Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am a hiking and camping person, tent camping out of a car and day hikes. Also like biking. (As an bicycle... No motorcycle.)
Nature lover :)
We also bring my dog most places.
Not huge beer/wine person. My fiance can't drink at all due to health condition and I can only drink a little.
Well, definitely the KVR then! Biking and hiking trails for daaayz! Leashed dogs are welcome, even on trails. One of my favorite things to do is canoe down, then bike back up the Kickapoo. I haven't done the length of KVR yet, but it's in my bucket list!

Isn't the "house on the rock" in that region ?
F L Wright built it..
He also built a house on the East Hill here in Wausau..

I never cared for hiking.. I did lots of walking when I was young, but only to get somewhere, never just to walk..

Now, I drive round and round in a parking lot until a space closer to the door becomes available..:old

Yup - maybe an hour, I think. I haven't been there since I was a kid. Before they closed down the Infinity Room... There's a whole drive you can do that takes you past quite a few of his buildings West of Madison. Through Spring Green and such.

Oh yes, the House on the Rock! When did they close the infinity room? My father painted lots of rooms in that place. The last was the room where the whale and the squid are. Then you would also have Governor Dodge State Park in Dodgeville. Great camping and hiking there. They even have horse trails and a horse campground.

We have 2 pups so far and at least one to go!

Not sure when, exactly... I heard of a fourth grade class that went to HotR recently and you can only look into it now. That's awesome about your dad- must have been a really neat project to be a part of!
Congrats on the pups and good luck!

Hello fellow Wisconsin people! I just joined BYC last week and will be inheriting BBZZZZTT's 3 extra chickens as soon as my coop is built. Yep, I'm her Mom. We're only allowed 4 per backyard and she has 7, so I will soon have 3. I feel bad separating them since they will have been a nice little flock for a while but it's better than having them crowded and neighbors possibly counting them.
I too love all things nature, camping and hiking (go figure!). We have a family camping trip every summer at one state park or another.
I'm excited to be here and excited about the chicks!

Love the driftless region.
Work & hunt the area. Don't forget the Blue Goose for
pizza. Grew up in the glacial lake basin ( Southern Wood County ).
Flat land, sand, jack pine & black oak.
Took me awhile getting used to operating equipment on the steep slopes
of the driftless area.

Welcome No More Empty Nest! Cute name! I came from the southwestern part of the state. Enjoy your chickens!

Welcome to the Cheeseheads No More. You will enjoy the hens for sure! Never been to the driftless area...sounds like a nice part of the State for sure.
Purchased my second Turkey Tag today...looks like the bird numbers are up around here.
