Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Been a nice summer, but now I'm ready for Fall... Plenty of garden clean up yet to accomplish, but all in due time.
The weather will break and then it's full time hunting and wood making..the chimney needs cleaned yet, and prolly 10 face cords to toss in the basement...great to be alive, and a lot of projects to knock off the list...

Not enough to sell at all. Scraped the honey and comb into my crockpot and set it on warm. Perfect! Melted all the wax, it floated to the top and now all I need to do is let the whole works cool, pull off the wax and jar up the honey.

Jim, I would happily take elderberry bushes..... just too far a drive at the moment.

Was working on the house this weekend too. Finished my painting for the time being, now trying to get the house in order so it does not look like we just moved in...... I need a week to work on this place.

good morning,
yesterday Annie and I bummed all day.
we ate all of our meals in restaurants. DD Barby joined us for supper at Culvers..
I never ate there before.. had shrimp. very good
Mel, the elderberries will not be ready until next spring. I am planning on bringing some to the bash , if they turn out as I hope they will..
today Annie doesn't have anything planned for me to do, so far,, so maybe I can get the rototiller started .. I haven't started it since last fall..
the rain is supposed to stay to the south of us until tomorrow, ..
I am feeling better and stronger .. this week I started using hemp oil.
Annie is a distributor.

bl4 that sounds like fun! How much honey do you think you got, then? Also, ooooh! Beesewax! Is there enough to do something with that?

I'm glad the hemp oil is helping, Jim! I've heard great things about that stuff. I hope I can make it to the bash next year because I'd love elderberry bushes too.

I like bumming days. Today is mine, I think. Taking a breather before we dive into the moving process. We have to talk to Jeff's grandma about storing a few big things in her barn so we only have to take one trip up to the new place with a truck/trailer and then come back a few weeks later for the canoes and the 20ft bookshelf. Getting those out will let us have a place to stack boxes, too.

Cuz yep, we have the canoes stored vertically in our living room. :lau I kinda love it.

Hi. I'm new to WI. Moved to Ellsworth area in May. We have 25 chickens, 21 easter Eggers all spring hatches, 4 mix birds that are 3 years old and about to be frozen. We have 4 pheasants and 8 icelandic sheep.
We also have a house full of kids(8 at home, 2 moved out on their own and 1 grandbaby).

welcome myclan..
you need good fences for sheep. and a good LGD
Sorry, I'm fresh out of puppies..
Won't be getting any more.. Sold half of the puppy factory a couple of weeks ago..
but if you are ever looking for a Maremma, let me know. I know people who breed them occasionally ..
today I bought a spark plug, starting fluid and carb cleaner..
put the new plug into the rototiller and it started ,,, first pull.. so I really didn't need that other stuff, but it won't go to waste..
I got both of the new rows tilled up good.
I still have to go back and make a trench in each row..
I hope I have time after the first hard frost and before freeze up to transplant a bunch of elderberries..

Jim, I've actually been looking into guard llamas. Apparently they're stellar, and since they eat the same and hang out with sheep 24/7 they're pretty easy to take care of.

Glad you got the tiller started! I feel like we're starting in on crunch time, then everyone can take a deep breath and enjoy the winter.
