Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thanks for the pointers. I’m looking for a pup from a breeder. I am done with rescues..... I really don’t want to take on somebody else’s problem dog again.

I have a few leads, but nothing concrete yet. Hoping to get another dog by the time the snow melts. Speaking of snow, it is knee high down here right now. Looking forward to warmer temps next weekend, it will be a heatwave with temps above 20*!

My seed order came early! Want to get some raised built this year so I can have some kind of garden...... d@mn those black walnuts...... on Monday I am expecting beekeeping supplies. Now I need to order another couple of packages of bees......

A road trip is in my future........ I think I found a fur baby......

Chickens and ducks survived the cold snap just fine. Once again, heat is not needed nor is insulation in this area..... but they do get bored so I rigged up what the hubs is calling a ‘chicken piñata’; a cabbage head on a chain. They seem to be enjoying it. They were also very happy that the sun was out today and we were marginally warm! Looking forward to the climbing temps......

The last FFF of Feb is in the making. Decided to break out the fryer for a change. Home grown taters too large for bakers are krinkle kut fries with huge cod hand battered loins being deep fried to perfection tonight.... ;) home made slaw and a old fashoned for wash...heaven here .
Hope all is well with everyone.
This is truly as good as it gets.....have fun.
Tractor shopping...that will lighten your pockets in a hurry.

Stay Safe...bigz

I am so excited! New puppy will be ready in April! That will be a busy month! Chicks arrive the first week, the pup ready the second, and bees arrive the third......

I hope everyone else is getting ready for spring.....I am itching to start my seeds.

I am definitely itching to start seeds!!
I normally start seeds around St. Patrick’s Day to plant them outside on Memorial weekend. I can’t wait to start seeds!!

Hello! I'm in search of chicks in the Dodgeville area. I'm new here and to the world of chickens...any help appreciated. TIA.
Farm Fleet. Their chicks come from cackle hatchery. You could also try other farm stores.
You could try craigslist.
I have bought chicks from Farm Fleet and Cackle before and have some ordered this year. Farm Fleet usually has a in store assortment of a few varieties. I am by La Crosse. Think it would be the same in the Dodgeville store.
La Crosse is taking orders now for late april delivery. Prolly the same in your location.
Farm Fleet also has instore list of chickens for pickup or order and a online order some of the chicken varieties you can order just 1 chick some varieties need order 5. Some varieties you can order male or female others are straight run.
This site backyard chickens and cackle will have descriptions of the chickens. Layers, meat birds, dual purpose, coloring, weights, fast maturing, slow maturing, temperament etc.
I suggest doing some reading on the varieties of chickens if your new to them fit your needs.
good luck

If you want to support a WI business, use Sunnyside hatchery by Beaver Dam.
The Co-op “Provision Country Store” in Marshfield was running a Chick Days event where if you buy so many bags of Purina chick feed, you get free chicks. The chicks come from Sunnyside Hatchery. I know the event was for the beginning of March.
