Big game tomorrow for the green and gold......hoping they can stay alive with a playoff win in the frozen tundra!

Hope your move goes smooth bl4.....

Collecting 8 eggs a day from 24 pullets and hens, without any additional light. I feed my birds well and it makes all the difference. Longevity is the norm for my hens!

The eagle has landed….. sort of. Camped at my moms for the time being, chickens are at the in-laws.

A lot of work to move a household….. I would love to downsize and get rid of a ton of stuff…… 4 trips with the 26’ uhaul, and whatever we could stuff into vehicles.

Good times…..

The coop needs to be draft free in these frigid temps....make sure the flock has fresh water. I provide fresh water every mid morning and again in the afternoon if the waterer freezes. I have alot of waterers and simply change out the frozen for fresh. I provide a very deep bed of straw and freshen it up as needed by adding more. Corn and boss (black oil sunflower seeds) are excellent treats during the cold also, even hanging a suet feeder is fun and good for them. I collect eggs eggs 3 times a day and check on the hens also. Good Luck, hope this cold snap ends soon!

Stay Safe and warm.... bigz

Thank you i usally go out 3-4 times a day to change out there water. And there coop is draft free, not there run though. They have a heated waterer in the run i wish it was in the coop now. I have corn that i give them. And i hope this cold snap ends soo too. And i am trying to get some straw for them.

I add an extra layer of shavings on the floor for the chickens in this cold weather, then sprinkle some boss on it to keep them busy. I think the activity helps keep their feet warm. They still like to go outside in the sunshine - but this flock only goes out when I have shoveled their run. They don't do snow!

I have a heated waterer in their covered and wrapped (only in the winter) run so they will come out. No food or water in the coop for my ladies, they have to come out for it. I have been giving a few extra handfuls of corn and mealworms during these coldest of days. Added about 3 more inches of straw and check for eggs 2-3 times a day. Thankfully they have a window on the south facing side so the sun really warms up the coop. They really like to dig some beds under the nesting boxes in the really cold days and huddle together.

I am ready for the super cold to be done, the 20s seem like a heat wave
