Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

So doing a little research soil test id P and K and PH does not included nitrogen as that is a separate test. Guess some farmers will take apiece of the corn plant and have it tested. Seldom is the nitrogen test done. Special procedure for nitro test.

well, it looks like most of us got some rain. we got a lot.
it never fails, though, just when I get set to saw the big branch off of the black walnut tree , the rain comes.
that's OK, we need the rain, and I needed a day off.
We are getting alot of rain right now its been raining hard for almost 1 hour. What do you all do for winter? Im trying to prepare last year the chickens didnt do so well. I can only have 5 chickens and supplemental heat is a option but i dont like heat lamps. Im going to get some straw/hay. And i have a heated waterer. What else can I do.

My chickens stay in the front of the barn and have no heat, not much for drafts. Place for them to roost. I give fresh water daily in below freezing. I use a rubber feeder. The left over water will freeze I just turn over and step on it. The rubber feeders I found are very durable. I have a few of them.
If it is real cold below zero I at times give them water twice a day and get eggs. try get eggs before they freeze and crack.
