Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

we just got home from town.
it rained all the way in and all the way home.
according to my weather app, it is not supposed
to freeze. I hope that is so, because we have to
go back in , in a little while.
TOR, no harvesting corn today, eh ?
Its misting out and freezing here. Our whole driveway is ice.

was planning picking corn , had tractor out scraping slush see if I could get rid some of the ice, rain came. By the time I came inside I was pretty wet. No corn today.

Came inside made rice surprise, yesterday rice with fresh steamed vegetables and made some orange sauce.

The weatherman said the next wave would come at 2pm, he was wrong in fact he was way off. Had it not rained I would have gone and picked corn.

Ilovemychicks08 lots of ice here to, let this weather system move on and I will spread sand if this ice sticks around. had some ice in driveway, but now its all ice or last time I looked. Suppose to stay above freezing for the night. I will try with tractor again tomorrow.

<9"PM , just got home from town.
roads are good, just hit one slick spot as we were
leaving town
our driveway and parking area is rain on packed snow.
might as well be ice.
went to eat at the Lemon Grass Chinese restaurant.
It is a very friendly place. they don't mind if you sit at
your table and converse after y ou get done eating.
the waiters stop and talk if they are not real busy.

I have sand tubes in outbuilding just for this. Have not had to use any sand in about 3 years. Unfortunately the sun angle is not real good yet. Suppose to be sunny later this week the sun should hit the sand and warm it some I hope and maybe break the ice up, maybe. If anything some traction.

I dont like picking up the sand tubes anymore though.

Checked my hives last week when it was in the upper 40’s. Two are still churning along, one did not make it. I swear these bees put NO honey away at all…. there was nothing in the hive that died, they were eating the sugar cakes I had left for them. None of the hives produced any honey in the supers this year either….

I did give the two remaining hives some sugar cake, and was promptly stung for my efforts.

Pic is of the dead out.

BL4, sorry about the dead bees.
Not many people can brag about
getting stung in January..
One winter, it got sunny on a cold day.
our bees got warm in the hive and decided
to go for a flight. they got about ten feet
away from the hive and hit the cold air.
there was a circle of dead bees in the snow
all the way around the hive. hundreds of dead
bees. I blocked the door after that..

Late Happy New Year to all the cheeseheads.

In regard to fluid filled tires, I understand you need to check pressure with the position of the valve stem on top of the tire. My question is, does the fluid get into the gauge and ruin them by the moisture entering them? I've been meaning to check mine but haven't so far.
