Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

yes the swap was really wet wasn't it? Pretty good i sold my 3 runner ducks and my rabbit. I found this amazing pair of Grey call ducks! they are so tiny! i also got 10 silkie chicks and put them in our car but we went back to check them a 1/2 hour later and 2 were starting to die!

so we spent the remainder of the time keeping them warm in our coats, so far everyone is OK, we were getting really worried. So we packed up my friends remainder rabbits and started to leave but we noticed some silkie hens and got one blackish one and a buff! ive never been to that swap and it was pretty awesome! Hope everyone had good luck there!

got to bed late and was up at 4AM.. drove to the swap and met up with all the nice people,,..

I am ready for a nap !! after my nap I am going to bed.. LOL

13 chicks hatched so far.. Not looking real good for % this time.
was the rooster shooting blanks?

I had a ton of emails to read when I got home.. I usually read them a couple of times during the day so they don't pile up like that..

I gotta check craigs list to see what's for sale ..

DrH, I don't recall the hitchhiker gal.. where is it posted?

Spent a time in the Dells this weekend.

fordmommy My hubby and his daughter LOVE the dells and a place that used to be called Black Wolf lodge, don't know what it's called now. Looks like you had a great time!

Just woke up from my nap and had a spot of dinner....just a spot. Otoh--nice job on the coop! If you ever get tired of chickens(unlikely) you can take up ice fishing...you will be all set!

Becky--my phone couldnt get any calls inside the building...I missed Jim's too. We must not have had the BYC sign up yet when you came in. I used my considerable "artistic" talent to make a sign while I waited for coffee to brew this morning. If it hadnt been so cold all the people wouldnt have been standing in front of the sign trying to warm their backsides at the tophat heater! We decided to congregate there since we couldnt find anyone that looked like BCC!

It was not a bad day to stay home!

I think I will take a clue from Jim and go to bed soon...thought I had to work tonight...but I DONT---YEAH! Hot cup of tea and reading a book up in bed sounds like just the ticket! Nighties! Terri O
(PS) Yes Carol I can find you a goose...

can't remember if I mentioned this here.....
what the heck? is wrong with this chick? Its not intestines? it's not poo? its a red blob! I assume it is NOT good?! been like this since it hatched couple of hours ago?

Thanks for the help

I am soo glad you got a pair of calls. They were all but gone by the time we got there a bit after 730 or so.

Otonoh, nice score on the new coop.. where did you get it?? so awesome!

Glad you made it home Jim.

i found it on Craigs list. I think it will work out nicely. Lots of windows, ventilation, It just needs paneling to cover the insulation and roosts and 2 nest boxes. Can't wait to start working on it.
It was an ice shack, I have been looking for a few months, most have been flake board, this one is regular plywood, next year, I will put on siding, by the time It is ready, I will have spent TOO MUCH already:D

Yeah....welcome to the world of chickens...
Hey RAIMNEL--that looks suspiciously lie a prolapse to me. I would let it be for a day or so and then see if you can disinfect it, powder it with powdered sugar and push it back in? You will lose it anyhow if you dont do anything...I guess it would be worth a try unless someone has a better idea? Weird! Just goes to show ya--you never really know what will come out of that egg!

ALright, since I couldnt sleep any more I guess I will remove my turner...give the eggs the "sniff" test and see what I have left.
Jim...ODrH said that her blues look very similar to the ones I got from you and we "sexed" them how she knew to do and if that turns out right I have 4 hens and 7 roos! Yup--that would be MY luck! I will let you know. (the black spots had nothing to do with it

Nighties yet again...maybe I will add some brandy to my next cup 'o tea? Terri O, wishing you sweet dreams as always....

Think I made my "cold" worse today. Got home and crashed out with two baby boys snuggled under the blanket, just got up a little while ago. Fever 103, blegh, I feel like my brain is stuffed with wool. Called in to work to warn them that I may not make it in tomorrow, luckily nothing on the schedule too urgent. Work will make the calls, my techs are stoked at the prospect of an extra day off. DH is running a slight fever, too, and is now in bed with Tyler, Thomas is helping me do chores and stuffing his face with popcorn. "mmmMMMM!" says he.

My little wheaten Ameraucana pullet is bedded down in the dining room, after throwing a half hour fit about being alone, she's happy and snoozing. Once she clears quarantine she'll head out to be with the others her age. I'm not a big one of "yellow things", but find her contrast and color quite striking. Thanks Cheryl for picking out the BEST one for me.
