Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Everyone is BZ, yup spring has arrived. have 1 field tilled thinking of planting tomorrow. Its chancy, but the outlook looks good.
2 roosters either fighting something or each other. I think maybe the rooster had its head twisted or should I say neck. I think they were fighting each other, anyway one rooster looking really rough. Might euthanize it.
Lost 2 chicks I think my salmon ones. Something ate them. White feral cat was around for abit. Shows up then disappears. White cat never bothered the chickens before, but does not mean it didnt eat the chicks. Hard to say what got the chicks. See what happens, would not be the first feral cat thats been shot.
Otherwise down to 5 chicks nothing missing last couple days. Hen has the chicks outside everyday. Might have to get couple more.
Mowed again. tie rod end broke on mower.
Hope everyone enjoy the nice weather, 14 day forecast looks good.

I was looking at my rhubarb yesterday too Jim. I was thinking rhubarb crunch though.
I'm anxious to get some garden planted too TOR. My plants are starting to out grow their containers fast.
Hope to get a few things accomplished today.

I took a scoop of granite to the culvert at the road.
there has always been a couple of feet of it exposed.
not any more..
bought a tiny pump oil can. just the right size
to fit a bottle of 3 in 1 oil into. flexible spout.
much more convenient to dispense than from
that flat can.
now for some lunch.

Well yesterday try to feed and help the rooster, went picked up daughter from school came back and it died. Maybe had other things wrong with it?
Had to many roosters so not end of world.
Planting sweet corn today.
Hen still has 5 chicks, humm wonder what got the other 2. Weasel would have been back.

The farmers up nort haven't even started planting field corn, yet.
I saw the farmer who uses my land taking soil samples.
We are blessed with smoke from Canada. I guess the whole state
is, too. I have a friend in Iowa, she is smoked in, too.
I finally got the planer all waxed and lubricated.
Soon I can start wasting wood.. I want to make a gluing table.
I extended the parking area by about 20 feet.
spread 18 cu yds of granite with Ollie. took about two hours.
I will let it settle for a few weeks and then tweak it some.

Kind of smokey here today.
Yesterday I charged up the batteries on the two
lawnmowers. They both started very well after that.
today I will pick some rhubarb and clip off the
seed pods already.
the apple tree is loaded with blossoms. and the
weatherman promises no more frost.. Now we
wait for the bees to do their job.

Yep, overcast with smoke here today too. I need to split wood tomorrow and get going on next year's fuel.
Hope to get the gardens tilled this week with the no rain forecast too. So much to do and so little time.

Stay safe .. bigz

Had a great day yesterday.
picked enough rhubarb for a pie.
tweaked the miter saw and it is ready to go.
fiddled with the transmission on the Husqvarna
lawn mower and got it figured out.
even had time to sit in the shade on the deck
and do nothing..
Mark Holley pulled a switcharoo on me.
Now he says frost possible.. I hope he is
wrong.. I sure would like to get some apples
this year. got none last year..
going to try to sharpen lawn mower blades
today..

Tilled the Hmong gardens by me couple of them, they are quite large. The ole massey 65 really got a workout with the 7 foot tiller. Springs came in for my wheel horse mower. 1 field planted with sweet corn. Bought 3 new chicks replace the 2 lost. working on JD planter. Still have branches to cut up from the all the heavy wet snow we got in April.
