Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well bought 4 more chicks 2 orpintons and a 2 salmon (Favorole) whatever. Took the 4 chicks and put them by the hen few feet away. Afraid she would reject them.
Took a chair and watch the show. The hen went over pecked at a couple , not aggressively. Guess she was inviting them over. She took them in. :D She has 7 chicks, happy mama hen. This was yesterday. Today she had the chicks by the feeder and waterer, scratching around teaching. She kept them all warm last night.
This is good no brooder needed.

Now last year I gave hen some chicks and week later tried to give her some more and she rejected them. I had to get the chicks out, thought she might kill them.

I'm thinking I should probably keep my 5 Salmon Favorelles but I also have 5 Leghorn/hybrid egg layers. They are all robust but I think I should probably downsize. The Favorelles are rather calm but don't really like people too much but I like them. Well, I like all of the chicks but I think I got over my head with 10 chickens. The leghorn/hybrids are a joy. Very friendly and cute. Some of them have dark skin and some yellow. Some have a few black spots on their white feathers. There are 2 cockerals and 3 pullets approximately 2 plus months old. But I think I can only keep 5 so I would like to get the egg layers to a good home. They are learning to crow so cute. Does anyone 'need'/ want these or any possible alternatives? They're all health and not exposed to any other chickens. Thanks

Happy Friday!! Nathan and I got the 2023 garden all planted. We are expecting rain all weekend, so no watering for us. Now we pray for a bountiful harvest.

Chicks were moved out to the coop a few days ago, the upper portion, and are doing well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm off to terminate some fungus gnats!!

we were going to transplant some chives from the
ditch along the road up close to the house.
I also was going to grade the driveway.
as I was finishing pouring gas into the tractor.
it started to rain.
that's OK because the driveway will grade
easier when it is wet.

I still have to run in the clutch on my tiller before I can rework the gardens. Plenty of time yet to get er done.
FFF tonight is baked cod and baked potatoes. The rainy weather we are having here works well to have the oven on.
Good to read everyone is doing great!
Cut the grass once already, and it needs it again .... dang

Yesterday I got 18 cu yds of granite delivered.
today I took Ollie and spread it out and made
a parking area for three or four cars.
it took less than two hours. looks real nice
I have to tweak it some more, but I will
wait until it gets rained on a few times .
I have all the wheels on the wood
working machines. cleaned all the work
surfaces and waxed them all.
Annie has been doing yard work.
creating piles of branches, cleaned off
the deck.
just generally making this place livable.

Nice job on the parking area Jim. I still need to order limestone for my driveway too, but I have way too many projects going now and it will have to wait until I have time to deal with it.
Grass needs cut again, and the gardens aren't tilled yet either. Oil needs changed in the tractor and the riding mower yet.
Hoping everyone is enjoying the better weather.
