Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Since we introduced two of the older chicks to the flock, they’re gone on an egg producing strike. Is this normal? It’s been four days since any of them have produced an egg. They all seem fine, except for one. Schatze is mopey, and this morning she was sitting on a roosting bar with her eyes closed. Could it be possible she has an egg stuck? I’m going to check her vent today, see if there’s an egg stuck - she’s also got a poopy butt than I’m going to clean today. She’s an everyday layer, and lays the most beautiful specked brown eggs. Thanks for your help

never effected my hens, this year put in 13 chicks with others ( i think) lost track.
Maybe some stress was created?

One thing chickens hate more than anything is change. They love their normal daily routine, and stress with a change in it.
Possible egg bound if your hen has a messy rear and seems lethargic. Good Luck.

Stay Safe ... bigz

To top it all off today, something got our sweet Scout this evening. Can’t find her anywhere, but suspect a fox or weasel. The girls are all down and sad. What do we do to help them get through this loss?
So sorry. Electrolyte water helps with stress. You could try that. We have Hydro-Hen but if you don't have anything you can make it easy, just Google.

For your possible egg-bound hen with poopy butt, did it look like a broken egg there too or just poop?

I'd pick up some of that Hydro-Hen as that's got probiotics in it too and that can help with poopy butt. I have an old one that gets that now and then.

We are in our 2nd seven-minute storm today. Sunny skies, then suddenly in come the wind, dark skies, rains for a few minutes, then back to sunny again.

We haven't seen a rainbow in a long time. We got a double!
