Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

We are in our 2nd seven-minute storm today. Sunny skies, then suddenly in come the wind, dark skies, rains for a few minutes, then back to sunny again.

We haven't seen a rainbow in a long time. We got a double!

Got a double here too! I also saw a rainbow when I was crop scouting down in the Sand Counties a couple weeks ago.

So sorry. Electrolyte water helps with stress. You could try that. We have Hydro-Hen but if you don't have anything you can make it easy, just Google.

For your possible egg-bound hen with poopy butt, did it look like a broken egg there too or just poop?

I'd pick up some of that Hydro-Hen as that's got probiotics in it too and that can help with poopy butt. I have an old one that gets that now and then.
Thank you for your kind words. I gave them Hydro Hen, and the suspected egg-bound hen just had a poppy butt, which we cleaned.

They’re on an egg strike now, hopefully this doesn’t last too long!

your chickens will be fine,I have lost 1 rooster 1 hen. 2 broody hen chicks drowned ( solved that problem i think ) this year so far,
last year 2 or 3 hens 1 rooster 5 or 6 chicks lost count.
2022 also took a number of them to Amish had them butchered, never made much difference to my chickens.

I dont give them names, well the 1 rooster had a name..its gone.

5 more chicks to intergrate and another hen sitting with 4 eggs and incubator going for the nieghbor.

The hens have been laying really well for 3 and 4 year old birds. I'm glad I didn't hatch more birds this spring. I thought I would need some young ones added this year, but I'm good to go for this year. 10 out of 15 almost daily is the norm for daily egg numbers.

Stay Safe ... bigz

Wow,
I wish my hens laid that good. I think mine are maybe 3 years old. Not quite sure. But out of 12 hens I get 5, Maybe 7 eggs a day at the most.
They're happy and healthy. And shockingly, these 12 hens actually get along together really well, no squabbling.
Just don't lay a ton of eggs.
I'm not really complaining.
What eggs me and Cooper don't eat I give away anyways.

was getting lots of eggs, well now 2 broodys with chicks and another sitting, 1 rooster 11 laying hens, that be 8 active laying, about 5, 6 eggs day average, my birds range from 1 year to 3.maybe a 4 year old in there.
Have not been by farm and fleet and seen any chicks for a 1.30 or .70 cents and thats prolly and good thing.
