Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi everyone! What a wet morning. I want the rain to stop! Although they say maybe 70 on Sunday, but of course it's going to rain.

Spring sightings here are the red wing black bird for me. We have had robins since the beginning of March, oh and cranes too. I only live about 7 miles from the marsh, so a lot of birds come back earlier and visit here. TO I've heard the frogs too the past couple nights. Spring is here. Broody hens are a sign too. DrHa I agree that the bread is great for soup. My loaf is gone, made great toast too. Was extra crunchy and not for the weak toothed, but that's how I like it. Lost that chick yesterday. Figured I would, but had to try anyway. DH had his employee here yesterday, so I go a bunch of little things done. Fixed gates and fences. Finished siding coop. Took out another fence. I like it when they work here.

Next they are going to work on putting up fencing for the pheasants I ordered. We found a old tennis court on CL for cheap, so that's what I will have for an enclosure. It won't be pretty, but will keep the pheasants in and predators out. FM- If that little girl is laying by June, I'll be hatching eggs do you want me to bring you some at the bash? Also my MIL has a SL polish roo and I'll be bringing him over to hang out with my SL polish girl. Does anyone want some? They are banties. All right I better go get something done. Later

Oh TO ( and anyone else that rides) DH and I are talking about riding in the southern on Sat (if the trails are open) want to meet up? I'll let you know by Friday for sure.

Good Morning Everyone.... Hope your mom did good BL4. We haven't heard any results here.
Hope the hunt for the dry stuff turns out goody Doc. Happy to hear you liked the bb!
Called the phone company for tech support.... turns out the new modem they replaced yesterday
is faulty....why can't this country make and provide their own products that actually work?

Out the door for chores....later... ~ bigzio

looks like the hatch is done for now.. got an extra dozen very late buckeyes.. and 5 extra late americaunas..
23 out of 30 out of the americaunas..
30 out of 45 on the buckeyes..
I am going to let them cook for the rest of today to make sure they are finished..

I am sick of mud.. now that spring is here, I can't wait for summer..

I have new batteries for this keyboard..

Well the wood making is curtailed for bit due to high water. My cutting and splitting area has standing water in it. But found enough dry stuff to make it through the heating season. Was a really nice walk in the woods! Watched 2 toms strutin out in the field, always seem to have one HUGE one around. He's gotta be over 30lbs. Thasa big boy! I made a couple of hen calls, watched, and listened. Buster answered. Then Peatwo. Musta lost my touch. Cept for callin Roo's

L wants to make chocky chip bars for work so I'm doing the dishes to get them out of her way. Looked at the Lupine patch and thought about raking off the dead stuff now can't get the Dennis Moore song out of my head. [Monty Python] Bigz glad your getting your modem straightened out. Doubt it was made in the US! Bec I love a good heavy crusted bread so that really hit the spot with us. Sounds like got a lot done!

But in all fairness you gave them credit too! Jim sounds like your hatch was dang good. Congrats! Have 35 eggs going and will know in 8 more days how many are developing. Temps are steady and humidity bounces between 34 to 42%. God I hope their not all furtile. My dance card is full, don't need to be adding on to the coop right now. Took a walk through the big garden too. The snow is gone but still frozen in spots think by the end of the week I'll be tilling and sowing some early stuff.

Here comes the rush to get things done on time again

kee so sorry to hear about the divorce even if it's a good one it's never a good one. Trust me, been there twice. I think Lollipop is a cool name for a cat! But not for one that has a hard time finding the litter box.

Hope things go well for you! Dishes are callin!

don't read this,, it is just a typing test for my keyboard. I really have nothing to say.. why are you still reading this ?? LOL
OK I changed the batteries in this keyboard. I am not going to go back and correct any typos. I was hitting the space bar and got l's and f's or whatever it wanted to give to me.. once in awhile a letter would stick and I would have to unplug everything to make it stop.. so it looks like things are back to normal for awhile..

Brent, did you know that there are two colors of buckeye chicks?
Are they sex link? black or yellow..
Marlene, the guinea lady. is coming tomorrow for 5 or 6.. I know her, it will be 6.. LOL

The light in the outside brooder got unplugged during the night.
Don't know for how long,.. all the chicks are fine.. I

It looks like I am going to have to fire up the big brooder in the lean-to pen pretty soon.. those 38 chicks are growing faster than I remember chicks growing..LOL It is neat, with senility, each day is a new adventure..LOL

I have 4 turkey eggs and 1 goose egg to set today.. have to check what is due to hatch in the bator, too.. these rotation hatches get really out of hand when I don't write anything down..

Afternoon All... OOOOP'S...the buckeyes are all one color. The other ones are black java/buckeye cross. The egg color is so close that a couple must of got in by my mistake....how many off color ones are there? I'll prolly give you a phone call so we can talk more....

The java women are in with the buckeyes. Mutts are ok too!

Glad you found enough dry stuff to make er through Doc. It was a long heating season for sure!
My pile is gonna need alot of additions for sure.

Later.... ~ bigzio

Well, I turned out the brooder light on the Aseel/TSC chick brooder just to see how they would do since they all hang out at the end of the brooder without the heat. Granted most of their down is all gone so I thought to see if they could handle a little bit without Mama Light since it's warm in the house for the younger chicks. They were good for the first few minutes, all huddled under the turned off lamp, whistling and peeping to eachother as if discussing the ramifications of light going away and what their fate would be. Then the whistling and peeing got louder and more desprate! Then it got louder yet, so I took pity on them and turned the light back on. Ahhhhh....life was grand again and they all got up and took off flapping wings and playing and relieved that Mama Light came back. Total time with no light....5 mintues....*sigh*
