Spent the morning with Elaine, we candled and then float tested the eggs...
quite a few were porous and apparently that is a bacteria thing that gets in...
several looked viable, but float tested as duds....
two float tested viable and candled good, but are very overdue.
I brought them home and...set up a temp/emergency incubator
Should I put a tiny crack on those shells??
I have them set up in a quick emergency incubator...
IF it works.. I am going to try it on some of the cochin bantams I have left...
I took a styrofoam container, my zoo med small UTH, a styrofoam egg carton, cut in half.
And two thermometers, oh and some water and duct tape...
holes punched into the container, 1 large binder clip, some wire.. and viola...
I have the UTH hanging from the top, held on with the binder clip on one side, with wire, and wire around the cord on the other side...
water in the lid of the carton, the bottom sitting on it, with a few holes in every other cup.
The eggs in the bottom of the egg carton all of that sitting at the bottom of the styrofoam container...
thermometers... duct tape to close the holes where the wire went through..
And well if it works..
Poof home made emergency incubator made from common household supplies.
LOL
SOOOO um..should I try to put a small hole in the two good eggs??
Let me know.

Edited to add. IF this does work I did take pics.
