Nope, not waaay up north! Albion is in the south- near Janesville-ish. I was listining to my country station out of Janesville and the weather chick Maddie said that we were getting rain with snow flurries possible tonight, chilly and windy and/or rainy (read yuckie) tomorrow and Friday is sunny and nice:D. Rain on Saturday. Next week we get into the 60's and 70's! With sun!! Yeah!

Maybe we'll get lucky and the rain will have come and gone by the time the temps get below freezing tonight/early am.
I'm planting my containers Friday no matter what! I have got to transplant my tomato and pepper seedlings. They are getting to big for the window sill pots.

OMG--that was the best dinner ever! It was so delicious and I am sooooo full! Just had to tell you all that! Now I have to go and read some more of this site...and go outside and do chores.....Terri O says "sweet dreams!"

Hi, everyone.

Popping in to remind everyone about the recognition awards.

We want to validate the efforts and contributions of our members who give sooo much. This community is special because of the efforts of its members, and we all want to honor that.

NOW: get to nominating, if you haven't already!

Remember, each BYC member may nominate one member each month for each of the three recognition categories: BYC Friend, BYC Educator, and BYC Spirit. That's three nominations each month, and we want to see more submissions!

Use the Nomination Submission Form to make your suggestions.

Thanks!

After being attacked by him again today my lavender orpington rooster has a butcher date set. May 12th he will be going along with my friend's GLW rooster. I was bent down watching my hen and her little chicks when suddenly I got nailed in the back by that idiot. He's lucky he didn't jump on my head.

Oooooo, thanks Raimnel!! I think it was a Green Bay area ad, listed as Clintonville. I'll dig it up, contact them and we'll see what happens.

He got to feel my foot. If he doesn't quit, he'll have a date with the hatchet too. Jerkwad. I just hafta keep him long enough to hatch a replacement.

Speaking of hatching...I have a working broody, finally! She let me put her in the special broody quarters, and stayed there. So today I picked up 7 Blue Ameraucana eggs (from a Julie Krahn in Appleton) plus one of my EE eggs just for grins, and stuck them under her tonight...May 18 is the day

First time hatching, oh man

just a good night note before I go to bed.. I just tossed all the unhatched eggs.. there was a stinky one in there and I am pretty sure they were all done hatching, anyhow..

only one goose egg left in there and it is pipped and talking.. the other one did not make it.

we are letting the goose take over from now on out..

I turned all the barred rocks loose today.. it took only seconds for the BR roo and the Blue Laced Wayandotte to get into it.. they fought for quite awhile.. I couldn't tell who won., but they probably know..

sorry about that torando thing.. but it was hanging out there,,just waiting.. LOL I'm sure my turn is coming..

good morning all, Cleaned the brooder yesterday. Found out not to dump the wood chips as mulch around the trees in the back yard. The dogs rolled in it over and over, Most of the wood chips were in there fur but the time they were done.

Bianca is still alive, she looks like she hasn't grown and was fighting sleep this morning when I checked on them and gave them fresh food and water. I have electrolytes and am debating if I should use them, I read somewhere on the forum that after they stopped, several chicks died.

hope you have a good day

Amyable, who is this person in Appleton with the Ameraucana eggs???? I would be interested in contacting them to pick up some of those eggs for hatching myself..... how is the fertility rate?

Everyone enjoy the so-so weather today (BCC keep bailing....) I think I am getting the cold you guys keep passing aroundon here........

Good Morning Good People! Was all set to hit the woods this AM but called on the count of rain. Really Really don't want it! The sump pumps are to the point that their barely gaining on it. Think we gained an inch over night. The royal wedding didn't make the list of reasons to get up at 3. The puter was doing weird things this AM

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with roo testosterone problems. Picked Buster up twice to calm him down then my arms were full and he got a boot to the chest then had to pick him up 2 more times after that. He'll come all the way across the yard to attack my black boots. Peatwo is a lot better. The BFF was out yesterday and was laughing at the way he follows me around like a puppy.

We took a walk in the woods and I said look. There he was following us. He'd rather be with me than the flock. kristip hope all goes well today! Garage stuff to do better get moving!

good morning all,

I am going on an eg hunt today.. I thought I got rid of the stinky when I tossed the unhatched eggs last night.. NOPE !! It might be just a sour hatcher.. I have only one egg in there for a couple of days, so I think I will give it a good cleaning..

I wish it would dry up outside so I could get the tractor close enough to the coops to clean them out.. and a llittle sunshine wouldn't hurt either..

Annie mentioned getting a truck load of road grade crushed rock for the driveway.. I am thlinking of extending the driveway part way across the back lawn to avoid the mud, as we know it..

the barred rocks seem to love being out of that pen.. they went into the lean-to without a problem last night.. as if they were doing it all along..

I mentioned to Annie that those barred rocks are the perfect camoflaged birds.. when they were in the blackberry patch, you could hardly see them..

I am so fickle, I switch favorite breeds almost daily.. LOL and that folks, is how you end up with too many breeds running around the yard. = too many chickens

A duck layed an egg not in a nest.. hope she keeps it up so I can incubate some..

We sort of decided that we are going to butcher any male muscovys while they are quite young... Like about the size of a full grown female.. those full grown drakes are way too hard to process..

If I had a lot of geese, I would do a batch of goslings also.. I had a whole roasted gosling on a KLM airline flight from Germany.. It was the best meal I have ever eaten, bar none.. that was the "old" KLM.. I'm sure they are serving bags of peanuts like all the rest, nowadays...LOL

only one more day of this BS weather.. hang in there..
