Hi to everyone, I haven't read all the pages yet just wanted to say it is so quiet in the house. My girls moved out to the garage and so did the stink
sickbyc.gif

Hi Brent, I was thinking about you today.. I almost called you, but it was after 9PM and I figured you would be in bed.. with your eyes and mine, we would be lucky to come up with one good one..

Suzie is doing all the chores,?? Just how long do you plan on milking this ? LOL

I asked the Dr if I would be able to read after my surgery.. He said sure, after the blurriness goes away.. I said," GREAT !! I didn't know how to read before,,"

turkey #9 just finished drying off..

I had to put all the birds in tonight..I made quite a few of them angry about that.. 3 ducks kept giving me the slip.. I hope they are that smart when the fox shows up, those cockey little ()%^#(*$.. we had a fox visit us this morning. Annie scared it away before it could grab a free breakfast.. I told her, Oh great, all you did was to teach it to not to come at 7AM..

somebody was looking for sebastapol geese? mine are not laying yet.. I hope they start soon.. the Toulouse are almost done laying..

CFC927, we raise all our birds as pets, and then we eat them..

jvls1942 - Good, I hope that Guinea egg ISN'T fertile! I don't want Guineas, I think they're scary!

Will wants all sorts of strange birds. If our darn house sells and we make it someplace more rural, he wants pheasants next.

My Sebastopol geese haven't laid any eggs yet either, but I'm considering selling the adults...pretty birds, and they honestly are easy keepers that are cheap to feed, but they don't have the space they need right now, and the properties we've been looking at...I just can't imagine geese roaming around them!

Plugged the new 'bator in today and it runs great! Heats up, but the ancient thermometers don't seem to be working (there was a regular one and a wet-bulb), so I'll have to put some new ones in before I'll have an idea if the thermostat is dependable or not - and we ordered a replacement wafer anyways. All the switches and lights work (we'll have to try to find a replacement bulb for the exterior indicator light - all the other bulbs are conventional sizes and were easily replaced). We have the inside all cleaned out - found quite the collection of eggshell bits hidden in the back! Will's in the process of taking out the fan and heating elements as I type to look them over and make sure they're safe. He says there are a couple wires that are frayed and need replacing, and he's taking the fan motor apart to figure out why it's so loud (I think it's just old, be he seems to think something's loose

). I guess he's going to sand down the entire outside, and then we'll just rub the wood with linseed oil.

Anyways, it's time to move the Call ducklings out to the garage. Went to check the basement brooder this afternoon and we had a duckie on the loose! No idea how she got out, but she looked surprisingly pleased with herself (I would have expected her to to frantic to get back in with her siblings!) and had a mouth full of cat hair, the little stinker!

Good evening! I am installed in my "new house" for the weekend. Sooooo quiet! It is a brand new house and there is only me and one dog. He is lying at my feet.
So probably I shouldnt be listening to a Steven King CD! I hope I dont have nightmares in a strange house and everything.....well, I will have the dog sleeping with me!
So glad to have you back BigZ! Did you ever say how this happened to your eye that you needed surgery? That has to be a really scary thing! I am happy that your sight is coming back now.
Jim it sounds like turkey will be your favorite meat this year...or at least one that you will be eating often! You too H&R! Is your DD showing one again at the fair? I dont remember how she did last year with them.

OK I think I need to go to bed now! Mostly wanted to see if I could get on the internet here...sweet dreams! Terri O

HI All!!
We are up and online now at the new house.
So far so good using Verizon mobile hotspot, free hotspot thingy, 50 a month for a 5 gb plan with only 10 bucks for every gb you go over. And only a 35 dollar activiation fee.
You have 3 days to try it out, and can return it for a full refund including the activation fee.
DH was on the local NBC news tonight, you might have seen him at 5 or 10 if near ish to the Madison area, unless they show it statewide...
A story on the Employee trust funds (WI retirement for state employees and teachers).
Then they did a close up of his chin and cheek... WOW.. LOL

I got my friend and barn owner Joan a great mothers day present... I was picking up her prescriptions and found her the PERFECT present...

Yes its paper made from horse poop... she thought it was hilarious!!.. I told her she had a gold mine out in the pasture!

Just wanted to share, now that I can be on more than I should.

BigZ, somehow I missed the post about your eye! So sorry, glad to hear the surgery went well and hoping you recovery quickly!

WiC glad you are hooked up now! The TP gift for Joan cracked me up! I often wonder what the heck people are doing when they come up with these ideas. Talk about creative recycling!

Got the AC fixed yesterday (took 2 weeks for landlord to approve) and today it's downright CHILLY, doesn't that just figure! OK with me though the price of electricity down here is outrageous, probably because NO one ever opens their windows down here. People must think we are nuts, whenever the weather is bearable all our windows are open and yes we drive with our car windows down and get lots of strange looks. Lived in FL 3 times now and can't figure out why people always say they love the weather down here, they never go out in it and run heat and/ or AC 365 days a year. Guess I don't need to tell anyone people are strange.

Tomorrow I go back on the patch and put down the smokes. Losing Stanley so unexpectedly last week sent me running right back to the blasted things. Now that I'm over the worst of it, it's time to put them down again. I even have a quit buddy on here now so we both have someone to cry to when it gets tough! LOL

Got a phone call yesterday from realtor they finally did the septic system inspection. Apparently the access to the system is in the driveway (seems strange to me for it to be there) and it's below the drive, so all the rainwater drains in there. They said $1500.00 to correct and bring it above drive... then drive will have to be resurfaced because then it will be to high for clearance to get into garage. It's a heck of a long driveway. So today DH is tossing it back to the seller to see what they are willing to do about that. Would hate to be 10 days from closing and have this all fall apart. Wouldn't leave us much time to find a short term rental up there so we could start the search again. Seems this month nothing is going to run smoothly for us.

hoping the sellers will be reasonable and be willing to at least split the cost of repairs.

Hope all my northern friends have a fantastic day filled with some mild weather and lots of sunshine!

Dk, if I were you, I would start looking for a rental 'just in case'. This house deal is sounding worse and worse..........

The standoff in Oshkosh was about 2 blocks from where I work, so we had an interesting day with the trucks trying to get around the airport and Osh Truck area and make their way back to us..... thankfully it was over before I had to leave for the day! A good outcome too, nobody was hurt.

Ok, off to the grind again! I hear M. S. is having a flea market on Saturday........ I may have to stop in on my way home from work!
