Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good afternoon all.

It is MISERABLY HOT here today.. 97, gonna be in the 90's rest of the week, which means getting out in the garage at 5 a.m to get any packing done out there. Knew it was gonna be really hot though because DH came home. Never fails, cooler weather while he's gone, day he comes home goes back to scorching hot.

Glad to hear some teens will be coming to the bash, will make it easier to convince DH and DSD to attend. Sadly her one friend isn't going to be able to come down for a couple of weeks this summer, so this morning she and her dad were looking at summer programs through the park district so she could meet some kids. 15 can be such an awkward age

Raiquee we had great success with the M&M's with my grandson. We used the little mini's so it looked like he was getting big rewards! Didn't take long at all, but about every hour and 1/2 we'd make him try. Good luck!

Baby what a beautiful duck and baby, what kind is the momma?

jvls, I too have been through a number of the end of the world deals. My favorite was years ago, I was living in Illinois and working midnights and driving to work and for some reason that night was picking up a radio station out of Alabama or somewhere down south. The preacher predicted the end of the world sometime in September as I recall, only a couple of weeks from that night. I noticed at the end of his message about the coming Armeggedon he didn't foreget to ask for donations, which I found hysterical. Even he didn't appear to believe his prediction! I have to admit I was a little disappointed, Carol had me all psyched that I might be able to get a nice Amish farm if it proved true!

Glad to hear folks are finally getting some gardening done. Seems I won't be too far off schedule when I get there and may be able to get a few things in yet. I'm sure if we applied ourselves we could be out of here in 4 or 5 days, but poor hubby is just exhausted from all the travel, otherwise I'd suggest it. I can't wait to get out of here!

Well, off to pack some more...

Afternoon All!

bl4-that is one purty mama duck! The duckling is just to adorable!

Dh and I got some gardening in today. We have more to do yet but if life gets to hectic, at least we'll have a little bit in. We got some sweet corn in, Dragon Tongue beans, snap peas ( I think those were the peas!) my multi colored bell peppers that I started and my started Oregon Spring tomatoes. They were an early harvest tomato I'd thought I'd try this year. I also added another topsy turvy hanging planter with one of the started tomatoes along with some containers of lettuce, spinach, peas-Little Marvel, some more bush beans, Golden Wax, Tenderpick and one other I cant remember. I thought I'd give peas and beans in containers a try. We'll see how it goes. I have the peas set up next to the chicken lattice so they can grow onto that. I also planted some of my saved Golden Pear heirloom tomato seeds in a container. I also added a Cherry tomato too.

We went to Maynards....oops...Menards to get a hose to water the garden and I was looking for a Ghost tomato plant but did not find one. Instead that had a sale in the 4" pots of veggies and we got two melons, a hot pepper and a sweet pepper along with a table squash for the chickens. We also go some grapes, blueberries, strawberry, black berry plants. I know that some of the plants are too late to plant but I'd thought I'd give it a whirl since they were on sale and looked in need of a home! We made sure we got chicken approved plants!

My container of green onions are coming along nicely.

I did not get a chance to mow that yard today...ah well....the grass is not going anywhere!

Well, it is raining here and with the tornado watch dh and I have decided not to go to the movies.....ah well....Saxon hates thunder so I know he'll be happier with mom and dad here to "save" him.

Well, I'm going to peruse heirloom seeds and see if I can find a ghost tomato! Chat later!

Ugly weather front moving through. Stay safe everyone. Watching the clouds build up and the chickens are out happily dust bathing.

They didn't want to go in the coop for a bribe, either, so hope they return to safety before any severe weather hits (if it does). The freshly planted field to my west is currently making its way into my house through any crack it can find. Off to make dinner.

From looking at the weather radar it looks like more rain is coming, in fact DS(9)'s baseball practice was canceled this afternoon so we're just waiting for DH and DD to return from softball practice.

Making cookies right now..... they smell great!

When it's time to teach him to stand up to go, I'd highly recommend using a Cherrio in the toilet bowl to help with the aiming training. My son thought that was a lot of fun to chase the cherrio by aiming at it... I also periodically used blue or green food color in the bowl to make it an "ocean" etc. Whatever I could do to make it more fun. He also really liked to "read" books while sitting on the potty chair so I made sure to keep changing the books. (He was more likely to sit longer with a "new" book than the same one.) Big boy underwear WERE A HUGE DEAL. I took him shopping and he was so proud to pick them out and get to wear them. I didn't give "treats" but gave him a lot of praise and acted really excited EACH & EVERY TIME and would also give him or let him choose a sticker to wear....

Good luck! Elaine

The three babies; the black bibbed, the black stripey one, and the silver one.

If you look closely, you can see the silver baby just under Mamma....

These are my Call ducks, and just a few of the babies I will be bringing with me to the bash. Mamma is Jules, the poor duck that the mallard colored calls were picking on so badly. She is still missing feathers on the back of her head.

We decided to get some fishing in today... first cast my oldest DS lands a nice sized Northern; not big enough to keep but big enough to out up a decent fight! Picked some morels for a friend while we were down there......

Raimnel I used stickers as bribery for the PT. We would go to the store and get whatever stickers that kid liked, then when they were successful doing their business where it needed to be done they would get a sticker to put on a piece of paper taped to the door. One sticker for #1, two stickers for #2!

I hope all of you are surviving these storms. We are getting ready for round 2 to hit in a few hours.

Whew! The storm started as we were on our way home from the horse show in Jefferson. DD19 got 3 thirds and a 5th in the riding classes. Not bad for a horse that wasnt ridden all winter! SHe even made 6 bucks in a "payback" class. I will say that Moon did very well and they looked great. THe classes had 10 to 18 in each so I think she did really well---placed in them all at least! My student was also there learning about bathing horses and showmanship. It was nice to see her.
ANyhow, we got home and the rain was coming down bad....then the hail started beating on my car as I pulled in to home. DH drove the trailer around the block first before he got in the drive...OK gonna watch a movie with the kids! Terri O

hopefully everyone is safe, I heard there is lots of damage in The Wisconsin Rapids areas. Sending my good thoughts

David

I watched the storm progress on TV.. I kept saying to Annie, Now the storm is going through Plover, that is where Bruce lives.. Now it is headed toard Brent and Suaie.. and the Northern storm went past Donny and Sandi's, and then past Dana , etc.. with this group and my wisc animal swaps group, I know people all over this state..
I hope you all got missed by the worst of it..
It got so dark here, and then lightened up, I felt that I should be making a fresh pot of coffee and pouring a bowl of cheerios..

I went out between the two storms and picked some rhubarb and Annie made a pie.. Yummmmmm
