Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

It seems that the storms went around us, we had some wind and showers off and on in the later afternoon but nothing over night. DrH hope your friends are doing okay and that the damage is small if any

Paperwork today for awhile and then probably need to go fill the refrig up so the kids can have food for their lunches!

Hope everyone has a good day!

good morning, about half coffee'd up.. Have to go get some medicated chick starter for the turkeys.. some of them have taken it upon themselves to die.. Not as a group, but one here and one there.. this is why I do not sell any poults before they are 12 weeks old..

the gosling hatched overnight.. I raised the humidity to 63% last night.. that really seemed to help.. have about 6 guinea pips going.. Am anxious to see how the high humidity does with them.. 10 turkeys due tomorrow..

Dooner, I might have a small krueig..I D K,,, does this have anything to do with potty training?

I don't know if I should tell this or not,.. I have 2 brothers.. we are all about the same age.. when we were small, all 3 of us would stand around the toilet and sword fight..

Dooner, all carpenters make goof ups. The good ones know how to cover it up. the really good ones know how to cover it up with the client standing there watching.. My worst one was when I cut a set of stair stringers with the client watching.. only I cut them one step short.. NO covering that one .. LOL

At the bash, ask me about the dock I built for the priest.. Too long to type it.. LOL

I have to modify the hooded brooder for the turkeys, and have a lot to do today , so I will leave you now..

Good morning! Just a quit note here today cause I have a virtual TON of work to do today and all of this week...*sigh* I actually cant wait until it is over and it is only 9:30 on Monday morning! BL4 what was your SIL doing driving near a tornado? If it was YOU I could understand!
gig.gif
That would be scary for sure!
I sure hope all of our peeps are OK! I am glad it wasnt "our" campground that got hit! That is too bad though...is it Chris D that works there? Havent heard from him for a while....places that have campers or trailers sure seem to be tornado magnets! We were camping when I was small and our tent camper stayed put while the one next to us was picked up and tossed down the hill! We were all in the car waiting it out...thanks God the one that was tossed was empty! This was in a campground in Rome (we lived in the Milwaukee area) and that campground is about 20 miles from my house now!
Well--I better get out and let out the feathered ones and get over to my client's house. She is back now from when she left at Christmastime and subsequently broke her hip! I need to go there every day now, not sure how this is going to work out...Have a fantastic day everyone! Terri O

(PS) Jim your story cracked me up! I have 3 brothers and what they didnt do...I say forget about the darn cheerio Raiq and have the boy SIT! Toilets are for sitting, urinals are for standing! If only the men in my house would follow that rule. At least everyone puts the seats DOWN. I hate an open toilet!

Good Morning All...glad nobody was hurt in the storm. We had a ton of hard rain and wind and were dumped on by both storms good. Seems like everything is fine here! I also thought of all the folks on here when areas were mentioned on the weather forecast. I saw the campground by you Doc, and they said a house with your same hwy got nailed good. What a Spring, eh!

Thanks for the kind words sent my way. Hope the Doctor tomorrow has a good outlook for being able to do more stuff. Don't want to rush things and go backwards either. Hope to get something built for the newbies too. I sure wish I had your skills Jim.

Sounds like another cool week ahead for us. The grass will really grow after all the rain we received.

My last coop was from WWW.abuilding4you.Com They deliver and set-up. I was very pleased with the construction. They deliver all over the state. I can't build a dog house that doesn't leak, so it worked for me. Just the price of materials penciled out the same, so why build it and deal with all the constuction woes....for me anyway. I insulated mine and built nest boxes and roosts that should prolly be redone...I'm a good helper and can follow directions...but you don't want me in charge for sure!

Talk Later

Went to take check on my Guineas nest yesterday that had 17 eggs in it two days before ................. all of the eggs are gone. Asked DH (Chuck) if he moved that since we had talked about it...... no he didn't...... SOMETHING took all of them. Could it be the FOX that got some of my chickens ???

Anyway, about the Bash.. We are just coming down for Saturday. This is the bid day right??? So does anyone know what time PotLuck will be? Wanna make sure we get there on time.
We have so many critters to tend to before we drive down (about 100 miles). 6 horses, 3 donkeys, 4 goats, 9 or so Runner ducks, a mallard drake, a pair of rouens and way more chickens then I can keep track of. Plus my last count was 11 guineas but only see 9 around. Hope they are sitting on nests someplace and not in the foxes tummy !!! Oh and can't forget the 2 Great Pyrenese (never can spell that, different every time) a chocolate lab Juvenile that Chuck brought home that loves to eat chickens and my Bichon/nonsense. And my 4 african grey parrots, cockatiel and blue&gold MacCaw. Oh and the two cats that someone decided to drop off in my garage that decided that they like living in the house !!!
So that should explain why we can't camp out !!! Or attend family functions out of town together !!!! ............... No wonder I don't have any $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4

Are dogs allowed at the campground? I'd bring Buttons my Bichon/nonsense aka BeeShee I call her !!! She is 11 yrs old and since she lost her companions over the last few years she goes everyplace with us. Her nickname is ButtDog.
Hit with rain yestrerday and some long winded thunder and lightening but all seems good today. Overcast but not raining !!!

It always amazes me that you can teach a kitten to be potty trained so young and even puppys catch on fairly quickly but us humans the superior being it takes so long ..........

Jim is a riot. Although some of what he shared was way more information than I needed to know
lol.png

FT, so sorry to hear about the guinea eggs. I don't know if a fox would eat eggs, but if it was hungry enough, I guess so.
hu.gif
Usually raccoons & possums are the most common nest raiders, I think.
The bash is around 100 miles for us too, FT. And we have a zoo of critters also, but not as many as you've got! Wow! If we come, it will have to be only for Sat. too. And I think I remember someone else saying they were bringing their dog(s)?
Good luck at th Dr., Bigz. I hope they have some good news for you.
Thank you for the well wishes, DrH. Very much appreciated. And I'm sure we'll probably fit right in. So why does that thought scare me?

Hope everyone has a good day!

11 pages over the weekend! we went to the "dells" we have a campgrounds down there. 12 miles from the dells and hardly EVER go to the dells lol
had some hard rain and thunder there for a bit then we left and ran into 2 small storms, got a call from my parents saying there was tornado warnings at home and my dad decided to "try" to get our birds in
roll.png
I told him just to make sure the door is proped open a bit so it doesn't close or fly open and they be fine. my parents did a good job watching the critters THIS time, thankfully! then we got home at 6 and I fell asleep on the couch and forgot to feed Hazel (goat) her bottle
roll.png
I ran out with it at 9 and she drank it down lickity split.
at home we got some hail, but 15 mins away they got BIG bouncy ball size!

raiquee, each of my boys potty trained differently. MnMs for one, stickers for another (def. stick them to a paper). each one began potty training with sitting. they learn fast how to stand and pee. expecally if you live in the country lol but the cherrios thing works great or even a piece of TP in there and they can sink it. my girl potty trained the easiest, of course though she doesnt flush cause that is just YUKKY! therefore that is probably why she potty trained at 12 months (I would have said at 1 but that could be anywhere from 12 months to 23 months and she was like 12 months) she didn't want that on her tush. I remember the dr's eyes when I told her that she was potty trained already at her 1 year check up. she did have a few accidents heck she still has accidents cause the little booger will NOT pull her own pants down and climb up on the pot cause that is just GROSS!

anyways, chickens, while doing Friday morning chores (with my parents here) we open the coop door to the big birds and find a hen with her end trails hanging out
sickbyc.gif
hu.gif
blood all over we had no time to deal with that so DH dug a hole, he took a cripled hen too while he was at it. (no they weren't alive when they went in) Im good with losing those 2, they just stayed in the coop and ate all the feed, never left the coop to forage, no eggs. got more room now
big_smile.png

lets see what else, my stupid dog keeps mauling one of the goats, dog got a good scoulding this morning
smack.gif

the bash, if everyone would send me their names along with their "handle" I will do up the name tags. I need names of all that are coming with you also who they are to u.
me for example, our name tags would look like this (I'm not posting them all)
Raimnel (Amy)
Randy, Raimnel's DH
Isaiah, Raimnel's DS or should I put, the I part of Raimnel! lol
anyways you get the idea, THEN jim you and I can put names to "handles" I do hate that when I say something like DrHaha said.... cause IDK names lol

FT, yes Saturdays gonna be the BIG day, with a potluck for lunch (12, noon) and probably left overs for supper.
BL4 you're bringing me some of those calls right? I like the black and white ones but would love like 6 any colors. 6 calls total

Just lots of wind, rain, and some hail here overnight, no tornados thank goodness. Had my share of those suckers growing up in Iowa.

Home sick today. Looks like I was blessed enough to bring home the flu from nationals. Go me.

Blegh, back to the couch. Later.

No, no, no - I want them!

Nah, I'm not a ducky hog - I just really like the Black and White one with more White on it.
love.gif
I have a little Blue Bibbed one that just hatched all alone last night and could use a ducky buddy (more on his hatch in a minute). I saw the pictures of BL4's Call ducklings on Facebook last night and decided it was time to hop on BYC because I'm missing a lot!
big_smile.png

Anyways, we also survived the storms yesterday. Ended up locked down in our back hallway at work for about 45 minutes - which was REALLY scary - it was raining/hailing so hard that is was coming inside the building underneath our back doors, and we kept hearing crashing metal noises up on top of the roof. It was just 5 of us at work, and we opened the door at one point just to see how bad the sky looked, and it was a sickly gray-green, hail coming down, and a bolt of lightning struck the field just behind our parking lot while we had the door open - at which point we shut the doors TIGHT!
tongue.png
Will slept through the whole thing, of course - until Carol called, and he realized it was storming, and then the dumb-
duc.gif
got in the car and drive through the storm to where I work, because he was worried about me.
roll.png

So - my latest Call duckling that hatched yesterday looks like an alien. I figured out that my auto-turner for my Brinsea incubator has been turned off for almost two full weeks.
he.gif
Which helps to explain all the miserable hatches I've been having. This duckling is the only one due to hatch this week that survived. He never pipped into the air cell - instead, he pipped directly through the side of the egg. It looks like, either because he didn't get rotated around enough to have access to all of the yolk, or because he was in a weird position for hatching, he ruptured his own yolk and hatched with it smeared ALL OVER his body. It's definitely yolk - not excess egg white from too high humidity or anything - I run all my incubators dry, and he was covered in YELLOW goo - plus he was dragging around what was left of the yolk sac and umbilicus. When I found him, he was on his back, glued to the incubator floor.
sad.png
I really didn't think he was going to make it at first - his eyes were glued shut, feet glued closed, his navel was just barely healed over, and when I was giving him a bath I was afraid to scrub too hard because his skin looked so thin and delicate! But he's a fighter, and I put him in with my Cochin chicks when he was done with his bath, and he snuggled right up with them (they were quite alarmed, but they dealt with it
lau.gif
), and today he's up and around, eating and drinking (haven't seen him poo, but I made sure his bung-hole isn't glued shut). I'm calling him Igor for now - if he ends up being a she, we'll have to call her Igora.
