I had to read it to DH and we both smiled. Funny what we will do for a little chickie

I wasn't the dedicated chickie mom. It was a quote from a thread I was reading. Here it is, and it is an absolute riot.
(I am not endowed enough to do what she did).

I'm glad you & your hubby got a smile out of it, though.

Evening all!

Susie J-I'm so sorry you lost Jane. Poor Tarzan!

Ms.Frizzle-I'm glad that the babies are fine!

BBP-I hope that you can correct the bum foot on the duckling!

Oh my! Do I have news! Winston crowed today!! Just tossed back his little head and crowed! No I-am-a baby-rooster-learning-to-crow-and-choking-on-my-crow sounds! Just a tin like little crow! He was sorta surprised!

I had to take the older hens out of the chicken run because they were being super mean to the youngsters. Violet decided to go on a rampage and beat up the kids and Emma followed her lead. Lavinia decided to pummel one of the Barnevelders, so they got to go into another cage until I can figure out what to do with them. Naughty girls!

So here the pictures of the new rabbits:
This is the New Zealand:

This is the Californian buck:

This is the Champagne D'Argent. She will change color as she gets older.:

Could you post a picture of the Nikkeii/Manpuchi never heard of that one. Yes I'm new to chickens and have so much to learn. Thanks Susie

x 2 for me...sounds like a cool breed though! I read the other thread when that woman hatched a boob-baby! That one was hysterical too!
Another steamer here today...I was glad there was a bit of a breeze--it is just gorgeous out there now--I still have to go out and close doors so I will enjoy it just a little more.
Too bad about Jane Susie!!! So sad...are they not locked up at night? What do you suspect? I have a part jungle roo that sleeps up in the rafters of my barn. He is the Dad of many of the babies that are hatched out there--he has a whole harem that he has stolen out of the laying flock! I know his number will come up eventually...until then he is king of the mountain!
I had a little hen killed today...one of his daughters I am sure. But this one was killed by my Parson's Russell Terrier! DD19 (yup the troublesome one) let her out by herself! I found it laying in the yard still warm! I saw an ad on the bottom of BYC and ordered the video of this guy's teaching of dogs not to harm chickens...he says it can be done with any dog! If it doesnt work for my terrier I am sending her to him!!!

OK gotta lock up...I have the morning off again tomorrow...thinking I am liking this schedule!

THat Mill tour in Milton is on Thursday right? It starts at 1? Can you post it again for those of us that forgot to write it down and are too lazy to look it up? (thanks*blushing*)

Sweet dreams everyone! Terri O

ETA: Your hen decided to escape H&R...my dog was rounding her up (right into the neighbor's cornfield) so I waited a bit and then pretended I had a treat for her...she came right up to me and I grabbed her legs! THanks to your kids for having them sooo tame!

I put her in with the blues and she is happier...

What is with the losses today? I am so sorry, TO, esp. because it was your dog. You must be a little steamed too. I sure hope that video works for you.

MLH, what beautiful bunnies! The Californian is adorable. And the last one sure has some pretty coloring to her.
You're going to eat them?

at least it don't hurt, yet! went to the zoo with DS 5 and DD3, seen everything i think. hey TO was ur turtle one of the ones that get HUGE? we seen some at the zoo and holy moly those are huge! 2 1/2 days till school is OUT! I can't wait! I don't like a schedule. thinking of stopping paino lessons for the summer too. ok what do you guys think? as you MAY know, I have 15 - 20 eggs in the 'bator (3 of DS5 left from the farmer) suppose I should say the the duck eggs in there are due in a week and a half but the chicken eggs are due friday! I have 1 duck and 3 hens that have been broody some where between 1 -3 weeks (depending which one it is) do you think I should/can separate them from the main coop and give them all some of the eggs from the 'bator? I was thinking ALL but DS eggs.. Doesn't matter me one bit if any of these live (except DS's eggs of course). ALL of the broodies are 1st timers except my splash silkie (she tried really hard to kill the ones she was on, last year) the only reason I want to separate them from the main coop is cause the nest boxes are to high for chicks. should I lock them in the other coop so they don't leave the eggs? any ways tomorrow I'm gonna clean out that small coop. DH is almost done with the coop (2nd coop, bigger than our 1st coop
ya.gif
) equiped with it's own removable brooder box! (the one I posted pics of) I got the fence all put up this weekend, just need to make the divider "wall" and the doors! good night all, I can't type anymore. or maybe I should say GOOD MORNING! in 6 minutes! I'm gonna be sleeping by them I mean by then. lol

I would not move the clucks.. your nests are not too high.. the cluck usually sits on the new chicks for a day before leading them off to eat.. You should be able to intercept them and put them onto the ground.. If not. the 3 or 4 foot drop will not hurt the chicks.. make sure there is a soft pile of straw for them to land on..

Sorry to hear about Jane....D@mn predators! I get the feeling someone else lost a chicken but I can't remember... sorry.

Bra eggs.... I think I remember my mom saying that she finished hatching a couple of eggs that way. Something got the hen and most of the eggs. She took the 2 that were left and hatched them in her bra. I think it was only a week or so that she had to do that. But it worked!

DS#2 got the wheel of the camper fixed! He brought it over yesterday and we opened it up. Ants everywhere! We sprayed it down good and I'll get a bug bomb today. It sat for 2 years so I have allot of cleaning to do to get it ready for the Bash. It has some holes in the canvas where the ants were too. Good thing he brought it now so I can fix it up. It's old, but then, so are we! LOL DIL is looking forward to using it once I get it fixed. LOL She also spotted the plastic pond (that came w/the house) that was never used. She said she would love a a pond like that so I gave it to her.... son was not happy!

Poor kid, they bought a "fixer upper" just before we bought our place and is getting overwhelmed with projects.

Almost SIL is going to swap me some bluegills for asparagus... not a bad trade!

Well, off to bed!
