Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

TerriO - I will take some of those box elders! I don't think I have quite enough just yet in my own flower beds!

All of you with green thumbs make me envious. All the talk about gardens and all that got me outside yesterday spraying a patch of my yard with 2,4,d and some other grass killing pasture thing that my hubby mixed up. The patch is almost brown. Went to Farm & Fleet today and picked up a bunch of seeds. Hoping to get them all in the ground late next week sometime.

Didn't get a chance to meet up with Carol today, sounds like we will be doing so on Saturday. I can't wait to get those chicks home and integrated in the brooder. Sounds like she is just as anxious to get the quail from SweetFolly!

Thanks Hens for the link. I was doing some reading and it sounds like it is for just hatched chicks? Can this stuff be used on chicks that are failing to survive? I was thinking it would be a great supplement for my one little chick if it continues to not eat...

Sounds like you all had a great time at the Mill tour today. My little mill here would be lacking too, but they are such a nice bunch and super helpful too!

Great to hear about the hatch, and hope the chick thrives! Was your DS happy about that?

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. I surely am enjoying being a chicken mom too! The sand mixture is just fill sand scooped up from our yard. We had a new house put in last year and the fill sand really needs to be covered and yard made out of it... someday, that will get done, someday... I just scooped up a bunch from the top layer that was all dried out and then the stuff you see in there is more than likely the shavings from their bedding. They have been taking turns all afternoon bathing in that thing. And now, I see that four out of the six are perched on the top of it... Guess it is time for me to find some tree branches to put in their bater too!

Well my day went from bleh.. to cr@p tastic...
I went to go get the rent paid, go to pay it, and my land lord "FORGETs" to tell me the rent is 550 NOT 500.. so after we met in Feb, talked about move in days.. MOVE IN..
Pay partial for May... catch up on that.. NOW she tells me.. she is older, and her DH was the one who apparently decided it was 550.
NOT that much of an issue. Just nice to know.. NOW...

I wait for the mail to come, after finding out that my former landlord in deed signed the signature waiver... Had to text Dorner to notify her I wasn't going to make it today.
Didn't see the mail person come.. wait till this afternoon, fixed my muffler, 3 o'clock rolls around, checked the mail. NOTHING...
run to the landmark mill since its close and get chick food and layer mash. Ran to the Amish dent and bent...its closed for ascension day??
Head home, NOTHING in the mail box...
I call the post office, and then have to call the other post office, as we don't have our mail delivered out of Brooklyn, its out of Stoughton.. No express envelope.
I finally get ahold of my former landlord via email, she gives me the tracking number.
I check it.. its been delivered..
NOT TO ME!! for crying out loud.. really...
So I go introduce myself to my neighbors.. they didn't get it.
So now who has the stupid envelope??!! (brickwall hitting smiley)
I got more chicken food, and that's it..
Oh and some laundry hung and washed, and re-wired my muffler.. the ole fashioned way!!!
I am meeting Dorner on Sat. AND hopefully Hurley so its a big ROUND trip.. LOL

Hey does any one need one of these??
A black mottled Belgian D'uccle rooster? I also took in a red d'uccle roo as well...
A nice lady I took some porcelain d'uccles to, she is friends with my niece's parents and was breeding the d'uccles for 4'H. I took in her extra roos to try to place.
The black would look like this

have a great night, I hope every one had fun at the mill tour, and TO.. you don't need that kind of person for a client!

Hey BBC--I had a Jersey Wooley---the coolest rabbit EVER! Unfortunately they are very heat intolerant... I left mine in a cage and by the time I got home form work the sun had been on him for a half hour and he was DEAD! I was sooo sad--I only had him for almost a month and he would come when I called him and everything...I say GO FOR IT! His name was "Eddie!" And no--I didnt name him!

I have to go to bed....I am sooo tired and sooo glad that tomorrow is Friday! Taking my popcorn and hitting the sack! Goodnight! Sweet dreams! Terri O

Dornes, Meyer has Nutri-Drench. I think Tractor Supply carries it too if you don't want to wait til it ships. Yes, iy does.

BBP, do you mean Jersey Giant? I don't think I've heard of a J. Wooly. But what do I know?

Nevermind me. I just read TO's post. Duh to me.
Humane societies have a lot of super friendly bunnies, if you're interested in a pet rabbit.
Oh, my achin' hands, neck, back & arms, among other things.
Typing is gonna be bad, & slow, cuz I got blisters on my blisters. I had no idea it was going to be so beautiful out. I was freezing in the AM so put on a hoodie to feed the girls, & wound up sweating. Spent the entire day weeding!

Noones fault but mine, I guess, because I just had to have a river in the front yard for the sump pump to empty into. No matter where or how often we moved the plastic irrigation(?) pipe to, it would cause a swamp in the yard. So I had this bright idea to have a river to solve the problem. Sure, it stopped the flooding, but every last freakin' grass & weed seed, and Box Elder, in the entire county seem to find its way into it. And it's over 100 feet long.

And since we have had so much rain & crappy weather, the weeds were 2 feet tall! So guess what I spent the majority of the day doing? And I didn't even get it finished, & I was out there til 9pm.
Ok, I guess I'm done griping.
Maybe not. One of my ladies was not feeling well yesterday morning, so I put her in a cage in the garage so I could keep an eye on her. I put some vitamins in her water & gave her some treats high in vit. A. By late this afternoon, 6ish, she was looking pretty good, so I took her back out by the other ladies, and the snot head hen was attacking her like crazy, or trying to.

They better not act up again in the morning........I've done enough chicken chasin' for a 24 hour period. And I really don't think I'll be able to move too fast anyway.
Sorry I didn't get to read everyones posts in detail yet, just skimmed them. But I have just GOT to go to bed now. Night all, and hope you have a good one tomorrow.

BlackBrookPoultry, did you want one for the fiber? I have an English Angora, and she's lovely and gives me the most luxurious fiber. Woolies are nice because they're a little more easily managed (fur-wise). I really love my EA though! She does well with the heat, as her hutch is in the run with the hens. They all get along quite well--it's fun to watch the bunny dig and the month-old chicks dust bathe in the loose dirt! Being able to dig down really does her well because she can find a cooler space. I need to trim her tummy soon, though...she's getting a little matted from all of her digging!

I'm actually trying to find a buck to mate with her because she has THE most easily managed angora fur I've ever encountered. EVER. I'm so busy and I put off the grooming, and she hardly ever needs it, which is super rare for Angoras. Generally they can become a huge mess very quickly. So if anyone knows anyone who has a EA buck (not fixed, obviously) who is looking for a home....

I say go for it, BlackBrookPoultry! I love the angoras!

Morning to all! Not sure what the day will be as it is semi-light out but woke up early to 1 of the Welsumer roosters belting out the first crow. If our windows are open we can hear them even though they are inside the coop and doors are shut. We try to be considerate with the neighbors who are close by and open the coop after 7:30 am on weekdays and a bit later on weekends, especially if their windows are open.

Carol- can the post office track were it was actually delievered? Hope it gets there today for you
