Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning everyone,

school finished yesterday, I start summer school Monday, working on my grad classes. I want to get 4 done in July so have been reading until my eyes can't focus anymore
I checked my chickens early early this morning and they are finally perching. I have decided the wyandottes are intelligent and will go in the coop when I tell them it is bed time, the
golden comets, run away. I put them in and if I don't close their door they jump back out. Either they are stubborn on stupid. Well off to read some more, enjoy the day\\\\David

Hubby really doesn't mind when I do things because then I am not ragging on him to get them done for me. He knows I am more than capable to do things on my own... sometimes I just play dumb! Although, he has yet to teach me how to drive the tractors around here...

All this talk of the bash has me wishing I didn't already have plans that weekend. Sounds like it is going to be a great time, and I sure would like to meet Frizz's roo! And all the rest of you and your furry friends too! Next year.... I will be putting it on my calendar!

Carol - so nice of you to take that dog in and foster it! I am sure you will be the dog whisperer and unbark it! I have a small ankle biting pom that I got off CL for free from a lady that had cancer (and has since passed). He barks up a storm when strangers come into the yard. I kind of like it that he warns me, but some days it drives me bonkers. I don't think he'd ever bite though. He has little dog syndrome, you know... where he thinks he's a big dog. And then there's Dibbs.... my basset hound.

Hey Carol, one of those chicks I got from you is sure a TALKER. Peep Peep Peep Peep... almost all day long. Happy peeps of course, but peeping none the less! Maybe you could teach the dog to talk CHICKEN!

jvls- get that corn in and hope that you find enough people to help that you can move into being a supervisor (on union break all the time!) HA! And glad to hear mama duck showed up with her babies. I'd love to see pictures!

Was going to say more... but forgot what it was! I am off to the animal shelter this morning to put in my volunteer hours, then off to TS to get some more bedding for these chicks and a new feeder because they have gotten to the stage where they fling it all over instead of eating it.... ahhhh. chickens.

Oh - on the news last night, La Crossed passed a chicken ordinence. City residents are allowed up to 5 chickens and they must have a city permit to have the chickens. Horray for La Crosse! But those poor residents that can't have more than 5... they will never suffer from chicken math!

Wow, those dang exclamation points got the best of me in this post....

Oh yeah; WELCOME to (was going to abbreviate...BM--HMMMM...gotta think of something better) How about Broo? That's better! So welcome to our little corner of BYC anyhow. Pics are a must.

Jim I just read back and you said exactly what I was gonna say, "they WILL suffer from chicken math--just wont be able to (legally) act on it!"
Oh yeah--Dornes--we all wish you were coming to the bash too! Any woman that does things for herself (and sometimes pretends she doesnt know how) is a friend of mine! Why do you think I pretend not to know how to use the riding lawn mower? Because then that job would become mine too! Funny he has become way less possessive of "his" lawnmower now that DD25 is willing to do it! We will have to arrange for a mini meet sometime...do you ride also? We had talked of getting together and riding since so many of us have horses too. (and any of you that ride but dont have...I am sure we can accommodate!)
Hey--I just had a great idea....doesnt Carol have like 75 horses somewhere? We can ALL meet there and the entire WI faction can go on a ride! We can bring lots of refreshments and drink them all up first so the people that dont ride will "know" how and they can come too!

Now that would be hysterical...we would have to call the TV station to film the whole thing!

Brent I will be bringing transportation accommodations for the Buckeyes. I had some eggs from Revolutionmama that were labeled as such but they did not hatch. The rest of that bunch are on day 24 in my incubator and I have seen nothing. THe only one that hatched was an Ameraucanna...of course the only breed that I already HAD of the bunch too! How old will these birds be and what kind of quantity? I want to bring the right sized case for them!

So about these shipped eggs...I paid $21.50 for the dozen(got 15) and 15 for shipping. After candling at 14 days I found half were clears. Of the 7 I continued to incubate I got 1 chick. What do you think I should do? It seems like her roos arent doing their job!

OK I have to go out and feed--I am cooking at The Pines today and then have a boatload of work to do here...cant wait for the bash...too bad I dont know exactly what is going on yet!
Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Chicken math? I'm not too good at that stuff. It really was only going to be a dozen egg layers. Really. Now its that plus 2 dozen cornish, 2 dozen freedom rangers on the way, a dozen ducks as of yesterday, 8 homing pigeons, 4 chuckers, and a broody hen sititng on a dozen eggs and 4 chucker eggs. DW if that stands for darling wife beginning to shake her head at me more and more. Especially when I mention incubators. No ordinances in nelsonville that say I can't but none that say I can either. Guess I may as well test it. Are there any small animal auctions near central WI tomorrow? I would like to take her, perhaps get her fired up for more birds.

lol! what's that saying???, day late and a dollar short??

good expensive rainy afternoon, Yes expensive.. I could not work with the tractor because of the rai, so I went to town and got my hairs cut, and then went and got a new pair of glasses.
let me tell you,, "50% off" is still expensive.. LOL

got home to a house full of company.. sister and her foster boys, and my friend Brian, and the lawyer for the state for Ken's guardianship..

Brian rought me 9 more pea fowl eggs.. and an assortment of batam and guinea eggs, also..

I asked Brian about the row marker for the corn planter.. the guy who lived all 58 years of his life on a farm said, "He!!, I never could figure that out.. I just guess where I should drive for the next row." LOL

He said his dad used to tie a stick across the front of the tractor and drag a short piece of chain down the last row.. That is sort of the same arrangement I came up with..

My garden is green again with all this nice rain.. I am going to have to drag it after all..

I think a nap is sneaking up on me.. maybe the sun will be out after I wake up, eh?

Hi all, been trying to keep up. Hope all are you are doing well. School has been a test this semester, but two more weeks and I'm done for a couple and then I start my extrenship. I'm so excited to start something new.
Ok I was thinking about the bash and I need directions. I havent look at the other bash tread, so if they are on there just let me know, otherwise bigz if you could direct me in the right direction that would be wonderful. I'm not sure what time I can get there, so I will bring a dessert and hopefully I can get there by noonish. Let me know if this will work Raimnel. Ok I'm off, later tators.

PS Terri-when we getting together and riding? Let's set something up.
