Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all--glad everyone is Ok...well I sure hope the ones that didnt check in yet are OK too! Didnt do a darn think around here today...I really was hoping to do a bit outside where I wouldnt have to die sweating like the past few! Oh well--got the grocery shopping done between clients and got home at 5...now I a watching Improv on TV--O I havent seen this show for a while! Funny stuff!

MLH--I usually listen to a radio station out of Janesville so that is probably why they mentioned the fire--being so close and all. I was trying to think of what ight burn there...and since they had no details at all my mind was really going crazy! I a glad it was small and contained...and that no one was hurt!
(Charlie Sheen just joined them...wonder when this was filmed?)

DrH--I have an x-pen for puppies that would contain P2 well yet still give him run space....no problem to bring it along...we could always put all the dogs in it when you wanted to demonstrate his following capabilities! I know how you feel when you go away and something dies! THis happens to me almost every time I go anywhere! I'm sure nothing will happen like that this time though....right Carol?? OH OH--no pressure right?

We really NEED to get together so I can give you my chore lists!

So Dornes...did I read right that YOU took the skid steer and took off the top layers? Your DH must not "own" his stuff like mine does! I only use the skid loader when he's gone...I always tell him "it's not brain surgery!" When he complains. Besides I feel I do a better job cause I go slower and am much more careful. We have more work to do with ours this weekend...lots of compost to bring around!

Shanti--the only thing I can think of with the dove is that maybe she has some internal issues? Have you tried giving her a few drops of liquid baby vitamins without iron? Maybe up her protein with some game bird food? Sorry I cant be f any help to you!

OK--Out to do chores--there is something under my "O" key and it is making me nuts!!! Sleep tight everyone! Terri O

ETA: Frizz--those are some adorable ducks! You can be the start of the movement here in WI...after you get them breeding you distribute a few to each of us and then we can all claim tax exemption on our flocks 'cause we are bringing back a "lost breed" to preserve it!

Happy to hear all of you are safe. We did get some high winds and rain but all ok here also. We watched as it rolled in and was really a beautiful time of night here for a storm. The sun was setting and the sky was very pretty. We do enjoy a good storm as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

MLH that is a long time for the power to be out, happy to hear all is well with you.
What a weather change Brrrrrrrr. Let's pick somewhere in the middle

Not much happening with the lettuce we planted, is it to late to try again ?? Peas and beans look good, carrots not so good either. Corn is spotty. Onions great. Guess we will finish up this weekend. We can get the hose out that far so have been using a drip hose to water when needed. The potatoes are looking good, we tried 3 different kinds this year.
DrHaHa, can't say i would blame you for keeping your buddy at home where he will be safe and waiting for you to get home. We would all love to meet him but not at his risk.

I should bring our Roo and maybe you could give him a lesson or two. I think the only lesson he will learn will be to star at freezer camp

Friz, score for your DHs find. When will you get them?
DK waiting for you.

if things don't go well it won't be due to your lack of caring

Have a good one, Susie

Hey folks, newbie here between Boscobel and Blue River. Flock of 25 of White Rock(?), have 1/2 with combs and 1/2 without. Don't know if one set is a week behind the other in age or if I have a set of roos and a set of hens. Whatever the case, I luv em all.Was wondering if anyone else is having a gnat issue? Lots of them here (quarter to half mile from WI river, pretty sandy here). Just thought I would reach out to my fellow Cheeseheads! No weather to speak of here last night. Sorry to all those who got the brunt of it! Have a good nite all!

Brooster's_mom! Happy you found us on the WI thread! Always happy to have one more join in. Lots of nice, friendly people here who love talking poultry. Post some pics sometime when you're able. We'd love to see your flock.

mama duck showed up with all of her babies.. she must have been in the blackberry patch..

turkey hatched out 4 ducklings.. the chickens are starting to hatch theirs today.. 1 buff one so far..

I worked on the corn planter for a couple of hours today.. I think I figured out why it did not plant both rows last year.. there is a baffle missing to direct the seeds down the tube. it appears that they were shooting out of a hole in the top and spraying all over the place.. I made a baffle out of a piece of silver maple. If it will stay in place, it should do the job.. I might have to gorilla glue it in..

Marlene brought me 3 doz guinea eggs to hatch for her..

Annie made another rhubarb pie today.. No wonder I can't lose any weight..

we have 4 ukokkei chicks in the chickTV.. more pipped, too..
39 new guineas.. Not New Guineas,, more recent guineas.. guinea keets... yeah, that's the ticket..

Evening All... I'm also glad everyone seemed to escape your storm. Nothing here for bad weather at all. The ground is really dry here for this time of year.
Don't forget to bring a cage for the Buckeyes TO...if you still want some.... sorry to here fm ain't comin. Wish I could change her mind

Glad to hear the cat is still safe Jim. What does the guinea lady do with all those guineas? Hope you get the planter to work for you. You'll have to try it out when you have seeds to try it out.
Too funny Doc...by the way how's the new grill workin? Hope the fish fry went good, one day early. We were talkin about what species were doomed for tomorrow here. I only have one package of white bass left...sure wish I coulda restocked on them.
Down at camp today. The boys were stacking lumber from some pines we cut to make room for a huge swingset that we are trying to get set up and going. The swing we have is nice but we need more so kids don't have to wait for a swing. Alot of wood to be split and stacked....amazing how much wood gets burned there every year. With 60 acres there are always downed trees that need attention. Sure wish it was my 60.

Well we are officially fostering a "vicious" chihuahua, he seems to have settled down, but when I went to get him he bit me. He was being held by his owner, so that could very well be the problem.
I am doing a variety of techniques with him, and he is now getting along famously with my girls. He will have a small kennel up in our room to sleep in, he has a HUGE kennel, I mean Big Lab sized, but with those inserts to make it smaller if need be...
So I have a blanket, his food, a cup with water and a puppy pad, they let him self feed, his food and water dishes were HUGE... lab sized.. so he has a small tea/coffee cup that is wired to the side, and a medium cat food/dog food sized food dish, heavy ceramic.
We are also holding a mini rex, fixed male bunny, for TO to pick up to foster. She is a wonderful person.
The lady is the one who gave me the parakeet and siberian hamster.. Any one want TO to bring him up?
HIS name is Cinderella... and he has a pink cage. Poor guy... he loves his strawberries though.

Well I have had a LONG day.
Good night all
Carol

Good Cool Wet Morning All! Bigz the fish was excellent! Glad I found that BB recipe. We're planning a restocking of the freezer on Sun. Things are lookin pretty good around here so we're goin fishin! Nope we haven't broken in the new grill yet but it'll probably happen this weekend. Jim glad to hear your mama showed up with babies in tow. You are a hatchin mochine! WELCOME Brooster's_mom! always good to have people share in our affliction. Susie"J" you can plant lettuce 3-4 during the summer, it grows fast. TO your a bad enabler! If I do decide to bring him I would take you up on your cage offer. Was thinking this morning of where I could find one big enough for him to be comfortable in. Don't know how he would handle a big crowd, he likes everyone that comes over. It really has me in a quandry. Would hate to come home and find him gone. But on the other hand don't want to stress him either. Frizz your DD is not helping me!

CC that's just too good! Dad!

Have to be at the dentist for a cleaning at 9:40 really screws up my schedule. Can't get dirty before hand

good morning,, went to bed early and woke up early.. coffeed up and almost ready to go.. I got the corn planter about ready to go.. the seeds all came yesterday.. besides the bil tomorrow, my son called and said he was coming with his girlfriend.. one or two more people will put me in the supervisory position..

I am glad my son is coming.. that lets me have somebody to ride on the corn planter to take it out of gear at the end of each row.. otherwise I am hopping on and off of the tractor to do it myself.... Annie refuses to ride that thing.. ever since I took her through the dead furrow on the potato planter.. LOL No sense of humor,, that gal..

I am going to make a few dummy rows this morning to check out the row marker I made for the Farmal A .. If it works, I will send pictures.. if it does not, I will never mention it again... LOL

carol, vicious dogs are always the owners' fault.. some people think it is "cute" for those small dogs to be like "guard dogs".

and the reason that so many small horses are biters and kickers is because people don't train them like they do large breeds..

Brent, the guinea lady (Marlene) sells whatever she can.. she is sick, like the rest of us.. has way too many chickens and wants more anyhow..

On my cell phone I have her listed as Marlene/guineas.. Annie checken my incoming calls one day and said that Marlin Guiness called.. LOL
