so this 7 mile farmers market is there poultry there often ?

Me again,, Dora came from an Alpaca farm just 4 miles from us.. the owner is my former boss from when I worked at Weathershield windows, back in the late "70's.. He has a flock of about 100 of them.. he also has 5 Maremma dogs..

don't be too hasty to get rid of them.. the Llama is a very good deterent for coyotes.. my friend Brian has one with his flock of sheep, along with one of Dora's pups.. the dog and the Llama have bonded and make quite a team..

they all can be calmed down to be good pets.. you just have to spend the time.. as with any other animal..

people claim that a donkey is a good coyote watch dog, also..

I still haven't gone outside.. Annie turned the birds loose.. many of them decided that the garage is a good place to hide from the strange white stuff on the ground.. Yes, it is snowing here now , too.. a real fine flake.. the kind that packs in tightly for a good base..

I am looking on line for Panang Gai recipes .. Annie has one that she got from a Thai restaurant years ago.. still hasn't had the nerve to make it.. I like curry sauce..

I weighed myself today.. lost ten pounds since I started the oatmeal and omelet diet.. only 50 more to go.. they will be harder to lose from now on.. the first pounds are mostly extra water..

had more, but can't remember..

Looks like the lights are working already. I went from 3/4 egg/day average to getting 2 yesterday and 4 today. Woot.

Second coop all tested. They were not amused to be chased around in the sleet, but they're all rumpled, warm, and snug in their coop now, likely clucking away about the indignity while showing off their new bling (leg bands).

All pullorum negative, so now just to get the paperwork filled out and submitted.

The weather went from rain to sleet to snow to sleet to snow to rain while I was testing. We're currently in sleet mode.

Stay warm everyone!

I was able to catch up on my sleep today!

Woke up around 7:30, just in time for the snow to start. I was not planning on going out anywhere today, but the tree forced my hand. My Angel burned out and half the lights quit working! Normally I would futz with them and see if I could fix them, but it is such a pain that I decided getting new lights along with the new Angel was easier. Left around 10 and managed to slide back home around noonish. Lights are all on the tree and it looks great! Now all I need is to get the ornaments up on it..........

The neighbors of my friend are in the position where one phone call to the cops would eliminate the chickens completely; I feel they are in a poor position to make demands of anything. My friend offered to pay and they declined. Too bad then.

Only supposed to get around 6" of snow here...... I hope it stays, it would be nice to have a white Christmas.

CRS, has struck..... perhaps I should eat some lunch so I can remember things...............

Afternoon

, looks like the snow has stopped for now here, maybe got around 2 inches, heavy and wet. Had to hurry this am and get the snow equipment around so DH could go and start clearing around 2:30 pm so he will be gone unitl probably late tonight or early tomorrow am.

DD is making cookies for our 4-H meeting tonight- the club does a cookie exchange at the Dec meeting and they will be making Christmas card for the Veterans at the VA hospital in Madison.

Probably get the meeting done and then come home and watch the game with the kids.

good aft, I did go out and take care of the birds.. It was all that bad.. snow has stopped here , too. only about 1/2 inch,,,if that..

the escaped hen did a cool thing,, she flew back into the pen with 3 of her 4 babies.. I just shut the door.. I tried to catch the #4 baby, but she is wild.. and at her early age, she knows what a net is..

Annie called from work.. seems she found me a job for next spring.. first I have to draw up plans for an addition to bil"s house,, after he uses them to get the permits,, I am chosen to build it..
Now I not only have to lose weight,, I also have to get into some kind of physical condition.. folks,, I hope I'm not too old for this.. prolly means I will have to clean the garage so that I can find my good hammer..

that dog/chicken saga could get waaay out of hand.. both parties should just drop it..one of them has to "man up" and be the first to just shut up.

diet is going good.. I don't remember of ever eating this much fresh fruit each day..

It is almost time to close up the birds, then get some supper, and watch the Pack kick some butt..

.......gopack.......

Good evening! Still snowing here, and as much as I hate snow it is so beautiful-especially with the Christmas lights outside shining on it! Kids and DH are watching a movie, and I am getting ready to make some cookies. Then it's steak, baked potatoes, salad and corn I froze from our patch.
Hope you all have a wonderful night, and be careful for any of you that have to drive in the snow.
Go Pack!!

Going to start my post as I read!
Josh...I think you oughta watch out...Deli has her eyes on you as a partner! LOL! I thought the same thing when I saw your picture of your dinner. I hope you had a nice baker with that...I made some of my brussels from the garden the other night (with Hollandaise) and they were SO good! NOthing like home grown for sure!
Chickenscratch...there are some VERY nice houses in the Brighton area. My BFF lives and teaches in that school system. She is always trying to get me to move there...LOL--it is always sunny here in our area...if you are going to move why not MOVE? I mean away from that darn lake that makes the weather cloudy all the time? She is always amazed that it is sunny here in Lake Mills when it is sh!t by her!
Hey! THIS is the one you want....OMG, can I move NOW?
Cind...great score on the wood! My DH actually split a few pieces the other day in anticipation of being able to burn wood once the chimney is ready...I have not heard of Siberian Ash though....I hope he didnt import it!
Speaking of import...those birds that Deli had imported sure are neat looking! Really fluffy! AHe said they were like 12 weeks--they looked like the birds from here at a year old!

BigFam I am glad you were brave enough to get the child tested. Something my wife and I remind each other often is No matter the labels that are put on our kids, They are the same kids we love and cherish.
I love this JJ! Such a true statement. When my son was young they said he had ADD...still loved him just the same too! One of his classmates had Asbergers and another had Autism--the kids turned out fine just because the parents knew the problems and had the help they needed for them. Be glad you know BIgFam...now you can have help and do what is needed to make your son be all he can be!

Jim so glad you got Ollie back! Now you will have something to tinker with all winter...I am sure you will have him running tiptop by spring!
The ALpacas and llamas for fiber are in full force MLH! I was just at a holiday bazaar and there was a woman there that was making a killing on Alpaca wool socks! She makes and sells them (and donates too) to the troops and when they come home they buy from her because they are so nice to wear. I have a pair and she is right! Ultra comfy for sure!

OK--the people are hungry...they are starting to cook. They moved the furniture today--I am NOT liking my new "assigned" place in the living room...OK I have to go and cook...have a fantastic night and enjoy the game! TerriOgettinghollaredattocookNOW!

We haven't received any snow!! Maybe occasionally some frozen rain, but that's about it!

TO- you sure know how to find REALLY expensive homes! WOW.

My girls are still laying daily.

We really like the alpaca farm and have requested more information on the age of various items (appliances, roof, furnace, air cond., date of last septic pump, etc). We are working out the logistics on the money end! This is really scary to me as I've never purchased a home before, but hubby has. The one thing that I'm trying not to do is get too attached or excited!
