Night all!

Where is everybody? It is 9:30 for pete's sake!

Yesterday did not start out well, I was 45 min late for work! I got ready to go, jumped into the Jetta, started down the road.... and felt the tires shaking. I thought perhaps it was from the car sitting for a few days (flat spots on the tires) so I continued down the highway but could go no faster than 50. By the time I made it 7 miles I was thinking I would ruin the car if I tried to drive the whole 40 so I turned around and came back home, but had to go 45 since the shaking would get really bad if I tried to go faster. This entire process took half an hour! I get home and jump into the van, only to discover I had to fill the tank! By this time it is after 6, and I am supposed to be at work by 6.......... good thing I have the night number in my phone so I could call the guys and let them know I was on my way. In the end it was determined that I have some ice in the front tire. Nothing serious but I certainly did not want to take any chances! Did a little shopping after work, came home and continued cleaning...... making repairs to drywall..... hanging up hardware.......

Today I need to get the floors done, wipe down all surfaces (yuck), and get cookie dough made. I also need to kick it in high gear and get another batch of soap made! My sis would like to give it away to her Choir.....

Better get moving!

Well I am off to go to the barn, I really need to run down the short OR other issue going on with my truck.. Jim I wish you were closer!!

I went to go feed yesterday morning and the truck wouldn't start, I assumed it was a very cold battery, so brought it in the house for a while.
Put it back on and NOTHING!! My old truck has a push button start and sometimes the wires get oxidized and I have to strip a little of the plastic off and re-wire the button.
So i tried to jump it with an old battery =FAIL!!
I did have power just it wouldn't start.. so checking the cables I noticed the positive cable was loose at the solenoid (?) or regulator.
I added a washer and tightened it, while doing so I forgot to remove the negative and accidentally made contact across two bolts
and lo and behold the darn thing tried to start..
So either the wire is dead/shorting out or the button is OR something..
SO I can use it at least.

I am finally getting a few eggs from the young jaerhons, I have to get the breeding groups going and get a flannel sheet up around the "mini-coop" where the older chicks and the seramas live in their winter stall along with some retirees and the marans!

Stay warm!

Carol

Good morning, everyone.

Got my list all made, heading out to Menards as soon as DH gets back from his errand, then heading over to TO to pick up my Muscovy eggs (probably going to be closer to noon but the time hubby gets back and I get what I need at Menards).

Thank you, TO, for collecting some for me. Got the other incubator fired up to dedicate to the duck eggs and have been researching successful incubating strategies for them. 1st bator full to the brim with chicken eggs, now nothing to do but wait for NYD for the first batch to start hatching.

My silkie has suddenly decided it's time to lay. 4 eggs this week after nothing for some time. Not sure what triggered her, but hey, I'll toss them in the incubator.

My free range (backup) rooster was out greeting me this morning. He was making cute chicken prints in the snow all over around the laying pen. The primary rooster was blustering and showing off to warn him away from inside the pen. Boys. The girls are quite happy to come out in the snow, such a difference from the other breeds I've had that basically wouldn't set foot outside all winter. They are enjoying some fruit and leftover cereal this morning and making quite the fuss over their treats.

Good Busy Morning Everyone! Cindy pies!

Just what I need. The cookies and treats are almost gone from the counter top but not from my mid section.

Neat pixs! The kids really enjoyed the sunshine yesterday after being locked up for a day. Their out and about now too. Laura is taking another oxy nap, they take about a half an hour to kick in. She's doing really really well! This has bothered her for 20 years she's looking forward to going potty regular [pun intended]. Got the news that Dad's back in the hospital with an infection. Doubt that it was under control when he checked himself out after losing mom. Can't go see him with L on the mends.

she needs me. Have most of the chores done except the dishes, just now realized I didn't have breafast yet. Better get going.

Oh brother! Another one of those fall asleep really hard after letting the dogs out mornings! So-Good Morning! I was glad to read that ODrH wasnt going to arrive at ten since that's when I hauled myself out of bed!
Anyone else have some trouble with BYC today? All of my stuff was gone and I had to go back to forums and find this thread! By the way...we are no longer on the top ten threads list--just sayin'! Took me forever to find my way here again. I did spot some other interesting stuff to read on my way though!
I hope you get your truck figured out Carol! Is the van dead? There is nothing worse than having an unreliable vehicle. I am glad that DH likes to tinker with them so ours are "usually" running fine. That is if he isnt at someone else's house fixing theirs! LOL! You know the Shoemaker's kids theory right?
Yes CC I would love to come and cook dinner for you guys! I am missing the cooking gig that I was doing at the retirement home for sure! Of course today I am thinking about baking stuff...we are on a "limit the propane use" rule until tomorrow though. The tank was so low (under 5%) on Friday when I called and the guy couldnt get out here that day! So tomorrow it is...I have to start putting a sticker on the calendar to remind me to check I guess...I did have a routine but like so many others it has been lost! (I really wonder where all those great routines go?)

Well, I guess I am going to make some breakfast...BL4--dont forget to rest a little; your day sounds really crazy! Hugs to L! You are a good nurse DrH!

Glad your car is ok, Mellie.

No issues with BYC here, TO, but I seldom log out. Maybe we'll have to do dinner sometime. We still have to do that brewery tour too. DH keeps reminding me about it.

Back to cleaning, then baking, then making sure everything is thawing. Oh, and more laundry. Gotta love the holidays, eh?
