Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Got outside and hauled some more wood up to the house, fed and watered chickens and quail! I really need to butcher some quail and get down to 3 breeding trios!

It looks like I had a deer come into the outside run and get something to eat and drink last night! I sure do like the snow to track animals in the area!

Back to the game,

Joe

Mazo,
I can talk to KristiP, We have a joint venture going, I have a very very nice looking (show quality) type mille fluer d'uccle rooster, and a black/gold mottled pullet who is at POL, and Kristi hatched out a few eggs and one of those is another black/gold pullet. We were just discussing what to do with them She wants to keep her porcelain cockerel, a young mille fluer cockerel, a black/white mottled hen and two mille fluer pullets/hens, we are trying for blue mille fluer d'uccles.
So it would be a roo if you are interested and two black/gold d'uccle hens/pullets.

They do NOT do well in windy cold conditions, they must be kept indoors or be extremely acclimated to the weather. I got a mille fluer chick I gave her last spring and she was out and about in the weather of WI so does very well. The other birds came from a breeder who lived up the road from her and he kept most in pens in a large barn, or they free ranged, but in the large barn, not really ever outside.

So the birds are wintering with me.
Let me know if you are interested.

good early PM, what a blowout for the Packers,, it was nice to not have to bite your nails towards the end of the game like they usually make us do..

At half time I went out and played on Ollie .. I got the rest of the yard cleaned up.. even got a chance to use the bucket.. I ran out of gas, but luckyily I had a "fiver" on standby.. that electric fuel pump sure is nice .. turn on the switch, and gas is at the carb.. no priming necessary..

leaving for the inlaws' Christmas party in a few minutes.. As soon as Annie gets here with my sister's son who is going to stay with gramma..

I didn't eat a meal all day.. going to make up for it at the party..

I sliced the beef roast last night and made lots of gravy.. let it set overnight to get the flavor into the meat.. the sample I had last night was really good, and tonight it should be even better..

Oldest grandson made it here from Texas with his GF.. flew into Minn.. both DD's drove over and picked them up..

I had a long talk with UnkaDan today.. he is still having fits with Frontier,, thinks he will get the mess settled this week.. then he will be back with us again.....

checked the dipstick on Ollie,, the oil is deffinately milky.. I will be changing it out for sure as soon as I can warm it enough to melt all the remaining water..

What a beautiful day! A bit cold - but it sure was nice to have the sun shining so brightly!

Got the house all cleaned up - I even cleaned/conditioned the hardwood floors.

DD24 just called and said they were just coming up on Oconto. They should be here in 20-30 min. It'll be nice to see her... heck, it's been almost two years! I've already had three drinkee-poo's (I'm a wimpy/softee when it comes to my little girl)... Hope I don't cry when I hug her, that would make a hell of impression on her Beau (who I'm meeting for the first time)...

Chickens enjoyed the plowed through the woods.. This morning I spread about 5lbs of cracked corn/oats/flax/BOSS all through the trails. I'm sure the deer will enjoy what the Chickens missed. I picked up a 100lb bag of the mix for $22...

Well, Gotta go out to the wood shed and load the toboggan up with wood - 'Supposed to be pretty cold the next few nights...

Stay Warm...

Came in to thaw the fingers. Got to TOs to pick up Muscovy eggs (Thanks, again!) via the roundabout route. Made the mistake of letting Hubby go along, trip took 3 times longer than it should have, always when I've got a schedule in mind to get something done by a certain time. LOL Got to Menards, got the eggs, got the new coop door built (photo below) and hinges in place, but night fell before I could get it hung. Ah well, I made pretty good use of the couple hours daylight I had by the time I got home, will hang the door in the am and of course, I'm sure it'll fit just perfect and be no sweat at all. </sarcasm> LOL, here's to hoping it goes up and hangs straight, sweet, and easily.

It's a prettier door than before, at any rate, and I plan to paint the coop over in barn colors this spring, so this will look like a traditional barn door, I think.

OK, off to dinner, than need to check the incubator, and get the eggs ready for setting.

Have a good evening, all.

Joe...also come spring, we may have eggers or chicks then.

I may be interested in some eggs. I want to go through the whole process with DD and besides my GQF really does deserve to have eggs in it! It does an amazing job! I do have the space in my barn to keep them in it if necessary, but they will also have thier own coop to protect them from the LF is necessary. what is POL

I have been looking at Urch/ Turnland Poultry for some Wyandotte eggs and the also have some mille fluer d'uccles. Does anyone know anything about their stock and the quality? I e-mailed them and am waiting on their 2013 price list.
