Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I ordered from Sandhill once. They sent my order in 2 seperate shipments so I got alot of "packing peanuts" including dorkings, exchequer leghorns, partridge rocks, Iowa blues, and partridge chanteclers. I ended up with 3 exchequer leghorns, 2 males and 1 female. They were beautiful birds. They had more white than black on them. I sold them to someone in St Croix Falls and he was very happy with them.
I hurt my back at work today and now my sciatic nerve is pinched. It really sucks. I can't bend over, can't ride in the car without wanting to cry, and I can't lift anything. I am going to the chiropractor tomorrow. This will be my first trip ever. I'm afraid of how much it is going to cost. And no, I didn't turn it in as a work injury. I think if I want to keep my body in good working order I had better start working out or get a different job. I move about a ton of feed every day, 50 lbs at a time and its starting to take its toll.

Good evening--I had to take notes tonight--too many PMs and 37 regular messages! Sheesh!

I love my wife she knows when to cuff me in the back of my head while saying "just stop it"

Yeah...I am (we are) so lucky that we arent married....man, we'd need more land for sure!!!

BBP--that kind of injury really is a bad one! The chiro might be able to take care of it if s/he is good. But then maybe not. Why not report it as a work injury and then workman's comp will take care of it?
I did chiro for a year after hurting my back at 17...it still isnt great but I have a good chiro that will get me in line when I need it!

WOW--cant believe the number of messages today! I guess it is my fault for not reading this morning but I had to tell DS23 how to do chores and then MXM showed up...we had fun all day! (meaning she helped me do stuff) and now I am ready to go on my vacation tomorrow at noon! I might even get out on time cause all my scrapping stuff is already in the car!!! (first time in 10 years of going scrapping 3x a year!) THANK YOU MXM! We have decided to become surrogate sisters since neither of us have blood sisters. You must now consider us as such and I am so lucky to have niece like Cloe!

OK--I am now heading off to bed because I ate way too much of the scalloped potatoes and ham that i made for dinner! I am really tired and stuffed! Off to read my book! Nighties! TerriOneedtopostapicofmyrecipeyetthentobed

Hi all. Sorry to hear of your losses Ghost Rider

I hope your back feels better soon BBP!

I went to TS tonight and bought an incubator. I would have loved to get the HovaBator, but I just couldn't see spending $150 on one. I looked at the Brinsea ones too and they were also expensive. I bought a Little Giant and it was $39. The "chicken guy" said it would work just fine, so I guess we'll just see how it goes. Hopefully I am not kicking myself in a few weeks

The kids were so excited. My oldest, 9, wants to mix our rooster with one of our Barred Rocks and see what happens. I think it could look pretty cool. Lord only knows what I am going to do with all these birds. I might have to eat some to make room.
Oh- they were selling small, and I mean small, alfalfa bales at TS for $17!!!

DH and I were laughing our butts off thinking about who in their right mind would actually spend that. Outrageous!
Was hoping we might have some more turkeys visit us, but no such luck.
Have a good night everyone

We would not need more land darlin I have 42 acres. You would need to bring those big ol barns down here, then we could really make a mess of animals happy.

or just a really big mess

with your new bator... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT rely on the thermometer that comes with your incubator. find a cheep digital. I use one that came with a weather kit . It has the little sensor on a wire that can sit in the incubator with the display outside to check easily.

the thermometer that came with my styro bator was off by like 6 degrees and that is fatal when hatching eggs.

my brinsea is spot on for temp.by the way

TO - have a great time scrapping!! Where do you go for your weekends??

We used to own a scrapbook retreat up in Arbor Vitae, just sold it a little over a year ago.

Quote: x2 they are hard to hatch in..did you get the egg turner? or the fan?
No....they said I didn't need the fan because of Wi. weather, and that maybe if we were in Georgia or something that would be important. Also that I should turn the eggs myself so I know it's being done. I read the reviews and 20 of 28 would recommend it but those who didn't said something about the thermometer. I will have to read the instructions because I don't even know where to place a thermometer. Thanks for the advice

many here can attest that having your hopes up about eggs hatching is a long way to fall when it fails to happen.

I want everyone to have a chance to succeed.
