Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening To Everyone....been gone with some family coping stuff...kept up with the reading and now am on level somewhat. You're the bestest CC....this brings to thought about the flask that jim referred to.
What flask is he talking about anyway? Did you ever see anything like that?

Welcome to the new folks here...we are really nice people here.....don't believe everything you read here except from me....if in question, just ask CC for the real truth. It's just you and me, right CC!

In regards to the bash and the facilities....This is a family bash, with swings and sandboxes and affordable for all cheeseheads, you won't break the bank...you won't regret coming.....thanks for being the social butterfly you are TO!

The tweeek, or tweak to the Bailys is complete and worthy of sample.... Suzie just couldn't understand the need for raw eggs and heavy cream...just to slimy in the glass....here is my new version of perfection.....gotta tweek the recipe, right TO?

1 cup half and half
1 can sweetned condensed milk
1 2/3 cup whiskey....plus a drip
2 T. chocolate syrup
2 t. instant coffee
1 t. vanilla extract ( i substitute with vanilla flavoring)
1 t. almond extract ( substitute with almond flavoring) from the amish store. cheaper
mix in the blender til smooth, sample and say...oh ya! Makes 32 0z.

On another note...does anyone have ahome remedy for ear mites in cats? Our Lil Boy just can't seem to rid them with the stuff we are doing daily. He has a stinky ear. Kinda like who just farted?

Chilly Evening

Finished my one unit today, DH just has to pick up some extra boxes of laminate floor to take back to the store. Tomorrow will be working from home as the kids are out at 11 am- no point in driving in just to turn around and head home. Sounds like we will be getting some white stuff much later tonight and into tomorrow so DH will be on snow removal.

DrH- that is our 1st group of chicks for the year, have to start as early in Jan as possible so the chicks that are being raised for fair get as much growing time as possible. Will be starting our 2nd group of eggs tonight hopefully. DH is making a few modifications to the bator to see if the temps even out better.

TO- that is our wine-bator, this is our 2nd season hatching with it. DH modified a wine refrig that we got off CL, allows us to hatch more eggs at one time and hopefully cut down on the number of hatches we need to do. We can put in 3 shelves for hatching-DH will be making 2 baskets for each shelf so we can keep eggs separate by individual rooster numbers, we have 2 auto turners and can incubate up to 82 eggs

have you tried baby oil to smother the mites- put some on a cotton ball and wipe the ear with it. There is also a product called VetRx that is found at Farm & Fleet in the chicken section that might work- might have to do a bit of reading on it.

Thanks H&R...yep, this is our daily regiment...baby oil on a cotton ball and have used the fleet product too, maybe have to get another bot of that again. This particular cat seems to have a never ending health prob....not his fault, and I guess i'm lookin for something I hope i can find that works for him. His nickname is MR HANDSOME and agentle soul.

Good Morning All! Boy kjg you know when to leave town. Certainly don't miss like Jim said 2 weeks of -20. That used to be the norm. Vic if you beat the DH with something frozen maybe he'll get it. Amy glad you check in once in awhile but have to say I miss Cartman stories. :frow  Kildare49 glad to have you join us! Everyone gets a little more crazy about this time of year so don't be scerd. JJ congrats on the new layers! :yiipchick  Bl4 that was me poking and hiding. :D  Glad you made it home ok! H&R glad you checked in too looks like you have the bating bug too. Hope all that are get a good hatch rate! Think the kids that are up and hang around the fire pit get some education beyond what their parents intended. That's not always a bad thing. Jim those root beers are really having me thinking of going back to more than beer. Bad Naughty Jim! Forgot to put the timer back in line so I went out around 8 to turn the lamp on. Opened the door turned on the lamp and   Mice running everywhere. Saw around 5 have to wonder how many scattered before the light came on. So will be building a mazo carnival fun ride today. Going to have to dig out the water heater base to keep it from freezing otherwise it will be a mazo carnival fun ride and ice skating park. Still no uncrushed alumninum cans so guess I'll have to empty one or two. Darn it. -3 here this morning.

what is a mazo carnival?

Yep, I'm sure it's just a serious case of hard to get rid rid of long life mites lol.....he is really special with his ability to have a ailment.

Forgot to mention that all along i thougt julie was angie...and i called you angie, when i should'a called you julie....

at Camp...now i'm still confused no more.

Bigio: Now I;m confused LOL My real name is Judi? Were you meaning me or the Julie that was there? I kinda want to change my nickname on here-or would that just add confusion? (Have had Angiebubs nick for over 20 yrs-long story)

what is a mazo carnival?
I think they meant Tomski.
And I quote:

A good way to catch mice/rats without poison:

1 five gal bucket
1 piece of wood at least 1 inch wide and 3 feet long
1 gallon of winter windshield wash
1 metal coat hanger
1 can pop/beer
peanut butter
duct tape

1. Cut coat hanger and straighten so that it is long enough to lay over the top of the bucket

2. Drill or punch two holes in the center of top and bottom of can - big enough for the coat hanger to slide through. You want the can to be able to spin on the wire

3. Insert the wire through the can.

4. Lay the wire and the can over the bucket. The can needs to stay in the center. Use duct tape to build up two stops about an inch away from each end of the can or using a needle nose pliers, you can crimp the wire so that the can stays center. Make sure it's not too close to the can's edge or it will stop the can from spinning.

5. Use duct tape to attach the wire over the top of the bucket - or - you can drill two holes and insert the wire. Just make sure it's not going anywhere.

6. Smear peanut butter all over the spinning can

7. Pour the gallon of windshield washing fluid into the bucket

8. lean the stick up against the bucket.

The mice/rats will walk up the stick to get to the peanut butter. They will jump out to the can, the can will spin. The mouse will fall into the liquid and go to Mouse Heaven.

You can use water in the summer but during the winter you want something that doesn't freeze.

I WAS getting 3-4 mice a day for almost two weeks when I first set mine up. Now I'm only getting an occasional mouse - one a week or so. This works REALLY well and is simple to make.

ETA: ear mites in cats are usually treated with an oil, like baby or mineral. It usually smothers them. Does your cat go outside? I can't see that he'd get them at this time of year unless from another cat or animal. Try mineral oil. It is a little thicker than the baby oil. I'll do some digging on it.
