Good morning! I was planning on heading to Madison this morning with DD26 but she got up early after telling me she was planning on sleeping in! So I got up at 7:00 and fed the dogs, cats, torts, fish, parrot and chicken and then went back to bed. I get up and she says "I'm hopping in the shower and going to head out in a half hour! SHeesh...I havent fed outside yet and that takes an hour at least. Oh well, maybe I will call Peggy and see if she is up for a road trip...

Glad those ducks are developing for you Hurley! Your boys will LOVE them. They are much more delicate that chicks though and much harder to hold! Those little nails just take them up and over stuff in a flash! I love to watch them scramble after their Moms!

BL--you are a true cake artist! The best part is that you can even make them GF (and they TASTE GOOD too)

Agree with Mazo and Hurley...when I worked for the shelter we had to go and capture raccoons in the daytime if they were wondering around people's homes. Got called really often one year when distemper was particularly rampant. Most were already so sick that they were a piece of cake to catch.

Glad you are back with us Jim...you have missed so much! (SHHH--dont tell him about the hatching egg thing; we dont want to upset his healing!)

Nice to see you again Tomski! Any news on hw that stove is working for your buddy? I would live to see how it tuned out if you ever have the opportunity to get a pic of it! I hope your Franklin is heating up your shop for you too!

BBP--I would love to do a side trade on calls. I have a wild colored trio and the rest are black bibbed with one solid black female. (I think) All these colors really confuse me! But I would love to trade...please be sure to give me only eggs that will be female ducks please...LOL!
Chickenscratch...just let me know when you all want to get together in the SE area! I love where I live if only for the fact that I can hop on the interstate and be places rather quickly.

With all the talk about the Mousie Carnival Ride I think I might make one today too. I wonder if I would catch the beagle in it? Maybe the rat terrier? Ha--funny thought! At least I will know if I do have any mice around...The poison isnt disappearing much any more but it is strange that the feeder in the coop is sometime swinging when I go out to lock up...it is a foot and a half off the ground...HMMMM.

Jim--what are these "drying racks" of which you speak? I am kinda afraid to ask cause of what happened last time...did I miss something or are you posting in the "wrong place" again? LOL! (and I would NEVER miss a coffee clatch intentionally) I just got sucked into that situation....and I am still sad about it too!

Well, now that I have talked a really long time and probably bored you all to tears...I have to make some calls while I am doing chores. I really need to invent a kind of tether that you can attach to a phone so if you accidentally drop it while watering the phone is saved from falling into the bucket! Think I could make some $$$ with it? Now watch, this very thing will be for sale next week somewhere...

Trying to help with laundry and go to get it out of dryer. I understand wash like colors, but you cant wash 6 red sweatshirts together and expect them to get dry! that doesnt count the long sleeve red shirts! I need one for today at 1:00 hopefully they are dry by then. For now I put on my Flannel cause im going to haul some wood!

Almost pulled the trigger on some eggs, but thought i would wait for just a little longer and think about it!, DGF gave me the ok, but just have to think about things first as she is planning on taking a midwifery internship in Florida this spring and finances will be a little tight! Along with upkeep on this old house and a big trip to Alaska I have to start a better budget! Free coffee at work instead of pop and stoping this stupid smoking habit might be one quick way to save a good chunk of money!

I have to do all of my birds..depends on how old the chicks are when you get here if I need to do those or not. I have 20 birds and a prospect of 20 chicks. Half of those are for eating so I do not think they need to be done but I am not sure. My NYD hatch of RIR's will need it eventually at least.

TerriO, it's funny that you mention sending you only eggs with female ducks. Last year I kept 8 ducklings, they were all female (I sold 4). The year before I kept 4 and they were also all females. All I wanted was a blue fawn drake and I did not manage to get one by breeding my ducks. I also bought 2 gray ducklings hoping for a male, they were females. So I got 2 black bibbed. Finally I got a male! One was a drake and one a hen.

need some opinions, whoa, cant believe I just asked that!

still thinking about pulling the trigger on some eggs of EBAY, they are in Arkansas and would ship out on Tuesday, seller has 100% rating on 84 ratings and 15 in the last month.

my issues or concerns

1. temperature and shipping
2. does it effect bantam more than LF
3. I have turkey eggs in the bator right now due to hatch on the 13th do i just wait or get them and split the difference in temp and humidity of the turkey and the bantam eggs.
4. in your opinions what else should i take into consideration?

mazojoe, my opinion is: Wait and get the eggs later. It's risky with the temps outside AND if you have turkey eggs going I would let them finish first.

My lavender orpington no longer has prolapse! It went back in. The only problem is, I had not cleaned that area the day before it went back in so I imagine there is a lot of stuff up there that shouldn't be. So she is now on penicillin shots. 4 days at 1/4 cc per day. She is not a fan of getting shots either. I'm doing it by myself and when I put the needle in she tenses up and then when that cold penicillin starts going in she gets really jumpy. I have a hard time holding her down and injecting. But since I only have to do it 3 times it should be ok.

I agree with BBP Mazo. Also I have personally not had very great luck with shipped eggs. IT is a crap-shoot for sure. One time I got eggs from here and had ONE hatch! (out of 18) another time I had none hatch at all...good luck! DOnt you know anyone heading to AZ that can bring them?

The meatie in the basement died today...I think it didnt eat enough. (so I wont eat it) there was something else I wanted to say...cant remember of course.
