Thanks everyone. So...It sounds like I could maybe smuggle a couple of ducks in with the chickens. I still need to think about it because of the stupid labs...maybe just try out a few. Plenty of time to think about it. Just food for thought ....I would love to put in a little pond out by the orchard....maybe that will be another year project. Well see...plenty to do for now. We put an arbor in last fall...so I'll be busy with that. Still need to figure out what tree I want for Mother's Day. I get a new apple tree every Mother's Day..and a new rosé bush for my birthday....that one is a surprise....but I do like to make suggestions on the apples. I think I want a state fair. I need an early apple and am leaning towards that. It's one of my favorites. Anyone else into apples?

labs are supposed to be smart dogs.. train them to leave your birds alone..

we have two apple trees.. I have planted dozens of them over the years.. they always fell into one disaster or another.. rabbits are the food source of the wild and tame animals.. apple trees are the "rabbit" of the vegetable world..

Denise: We have 8 mature trees here 1 honeycrisp and then 3 we are unsure-but they produce enough for us, family, freinds, deer, chickens, cider, 4 coolers to tide us over the winter and still tons leftover!!! Love them. We also have pear, apricot, and cherry trees which arent old enough to produce much yet. Also, about the ducks-I LOVE the small call ducks....but the idea that they have to have freshw ater to rinse their nostrils in during the winters has prevented me from having them in my chicken coop.....BabyLady and BlackBrookPoultry have some beautiful ones!!

That is great news Angie!! So many eggs!

I have two Crab Apples in the front..one is not very healthy and I would like to have it taken down. They are so beautiful for a short period of time.
I have a pear and an apple for us and the chickens. They get everything on the ground. They have been a bit buggy lately and I need to soap them this spring.

I tried to catch the chicks to take pictures, but every time I opened the door they dashed under mom..I did catch one before it tucked under.

Mom is giving me the stink eye

and that is why I don't gamble anymore!!!!

lol, I didnt write it down anywhere but I told my dad the Ravens were going to cover and win, he told me no way in HE!!, I told him to put his money where his mouth was and he backed down!

there is a lot of game left, and I'm not a huge fan of the commercials so far!

well my choice of teams did win,, and I won the half time score on the pool.. so life is good..

I made a batch of spicy chili.. I didn't mean to make it quite so spicy, but that is what happens when you don't have a recipe to follow.. I liked it just fine,, but IDK about the other people in this house.. nobody said they didn't like it..

the dogs are restless tonight.. In and out,, in and out.. I would let them stay out, but somebody always lets them back in..

Hi All!
Short day on the thread tonight I see. People must have been busy watching the game.... or gone.

Awww, nothing like a hen and her chicks

Nothing much here either. We didn't watch the game. None of us are really into sports. Neil (#1son) did allot of sports in HS and well...I think it depresses him now.

Those of you who saw him.... hard to believe he was a star athlete.

For those newbies... Neil has an aggressive form of M.S.

Anyway, one of the young guineas kinda got "lost" at coop time and I couldn't find him but could hear him. Then I remembered that the Dom roo was "daddy" so I chases him out to get the guinea. Sure enough, he heard the guinea and started calling him. Less than 5 min. and they were both in the coop! Gotta' keep that roo!

Guess that's it.... Night all!
