Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Dog woke me up an hour ago barfing by the back door and now I can't get back to sleep..... I hate when that happens! Been listening to DH saw wood here the entire time too......

Cute chickies Judge!

I agree, unless you are one of those mega-farm operators you would not be running around in a new truck like that. I agreed with what Mr. Harvey had to say. Our local station had him on 2x a day and I would do my best to catch him. My kids enjoyed listening to him too.

I suppose I can take a stab at sleeping again..... so the alarm can wake me up in an hour.

CC-I doubt that Deli is ready yet either. She is waiting on a few "experiments" and "critters" to .....um.....mature, I think. But I am just trying to make sure that I haven't missed any communications.

Morning all! No extra snow yet this morning. I think its still on its way. I did take the kiddos sledding for the first time this season last night.

I have cabin fever! At this time last year, I had already planted my Spring garden. Now, I am itching to get it started, but obviously cannot. How many of you actually start your spring crop (or others) indoors at this time of year?

Good AM All! Doesn't look like we're going to get any plowing snow now.

Cindy I'm gutting the walls because of the flood, but the bedrooms weren't insulated until I blew it in. Fun stuff to remove! Bl4 hope DH made a big pile of wood.

Love seeing the babies! Made me drool when I got the email yesterday from MPC that they had half off a mix bucket of 25 day olds. Just too early adn too many!

CC- glad I was not the only one who the freeze hurt last spring. We got very little fruit and we have 4 apple trees, 4 pear trees, 4 plum trees, a peach, cherry bushes and trees, blueberries and strawberries and raspberries. Tried planting a arctic kiwi vine but this past summer was a little hot and I am not sure it is coming back. Going to dedicate spring to the raspberry patch and the blueberry patches besides my veggies. We eat so much fruit, want it to be available and cheaper than hitting the grocery. Wish there were more u-picks around here too. Must be come my own!

Still working on the work situation. Must have my come to jesus meeting with them today. Yanking me around is getting old and I need to know my future, if I have a job or not. DH says to keep my mouth shut and ride it out... I just want answers...the stress is eating me up.
Got a date with some girlfriends tomorrow night to dinner and costco..although I think all are on the paleo menu and I still eat some real food. But thankfully they are a a very accepting group and understand that I am not ready. I love my dairy and once in a blue moon need an egg mcmuffin. Yup... this is why I will never have that supermodel bod. oh well.. I accepted that years ago!

So off to work I go

KJGoodman: I am not sure what variety pear/cherry trees we have-jsut know that the birds are the only ones that get to enjoy the cherries LOL They never leave us any. Last year was the first time we had many epars think we had abuot 20. I am hoping this year will be even better.

Kristip: Thats the second time in just over a week someone has mentioned this "paleo" diet....have you tried it? It sounds complicated!

Not much for news-14 eggs yesterday, working from home most of this week as my better half is in Cali for work...and I got this nasty cold going on.

Angibubs : lol ~~ good to know :) sounds like my blueberries!!!! grr

Jim: I LOVE the chick pictures. The one in the tractor is awesome. I can picture my boys hauling them around :)

Not much news from the coop today, still at 50% for eggs.......rabbits are getting in there now. I guess I don't mind, it just seems like I am supporting their growing families, so they can eat more out of my garden this summer!

Any advice on raising teenagers? Boy.. chickens are a lot easier.:) Going through my first "teenage experience" ... the thought of doing this 3 more times, makes me want to drink..........heavily!!

Angie, I think Paleo take a bit of getting used to. If you are already a celiac, it would not be too difficult. Just a LOT of veggies and meats, but only certain kinds of veggies; any legumes are out. That FB page Just Eat Real Food is always putting up food pics with the recipes, a lot of them are GF or Paleo. I am completely on board with eating all the fresh veggies and real meats that you possibly can and eliminating all processed foods, I just do not want to completely eliminate grains and dairy. Your diet should consist of as little 'brown' food (meats, fried foods, processed, etc) as possible and have a LOT of rainbow. The great thing about Paleo is that you get to eat a lot of eggs!

I wish I had the room for fruit trees...... and raspberries, black berries, strawberries.......

Someday.

A few flakes falling here. Glad I am taking a day off for myself! I have a few overripe bananas that need some attention..... perhaps some banana nut muffins....

I am in the same boat with you! I have a 17 yr old giving me more gray hairs daily! I am getting great advice from those who have 'been there, done that' and what my friends parents have done to them. I have no problem whatsoever being the 'mean mom' either. Right now we are looking at removal of phone, and limit time with bf. Stipulations of finding employment are also a must, as well as keeping grades up.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Delisha-is this the first Orphington hatch since we spoke? Let me know how it goes and when you'll set for me. I need to tell CC so she can set at the same time. Let me know how the hatch turns out.
These are pullet eggs..and they are doing great..I am going to check out the ones that hatched out under the broody and take pictures today. I need to get them to eat and drink. They are sticking tight under her and she is in no hurry to get them going.

I have more that went into lock down this morning. These are probably not pure bred.but could be...My Blue Orpington Cockerel is still too young to have good aim. He falls off more than stays on. He needs a good month to get it together.

So I will let you know. I am hoping for the Easter Hatch to have a bator full so plan on that. I have them separated for a month now.

I put 24 eggs into lock down..I have no idea about the Marans. I can't see them at all. They don't stink so I am hoping.

Looking forward to some good weather...Snowing again this morning.
