Hi All!!!

DrH.... Sorry about your dad, hope he gets to feeling better soon
hugs.gif

BBP.... Scary seeing one of your birds hanging like that... hope he recovers well.

H&R... Wish I could help with the ear infections. When Duke was getting them all the time I couldn't prevent them for him either.

Bf4m... glad the job is going well.

vicki.... an oil heater is what I'm using in the coop. Not so much to heat the coop but to keep the water unfroze. Even if water gets on it I don't have to worry.

mjoe... Congrats on the hatch and fine pelt!!

Well, I got 3 eggs from the turkey hen in the 2nd pen. Didn't find any new ones in with the 2 hens except for that first one. I don't think that guy is doing his job. I may put him by himself and put the active Tom and the laying hen in the bigger pen. I really wasn't ready for this yet. Thought it would be another few weeks.

I never got to redo that turkey pen today.... I'm going to need some help.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Hey All,
Sorry I haven't been on lately.. But first, Dr. H. I hope your dad gets better!
Sorry to read about the barn/coop and other fires.

My job has become hectic, from not enough hours, to too many.. yes too many.
And everyone is bit**ing to each other, and stuff is going wrong and our interim GM is a guy I have dubbed the "Sham Wow" guy
from the info mercial...

Bleh.. I am off to bed, drugs have kicked in..

Carol

My husband used to trap. I got sick of seeing all the beavers he brought home to skin. I think he got tired of doing it too, so he stopped. We live on the river now and every year a couple of guys set traps for quite a ways down on both sides. My dog steals muskrats from the traps. One year they skinned a whole bunch of them and left the carcasses on our property. Game Over! I put huge sign down there along our property that said. "No trapping without permission". My dog had been rolling in those rotting things for about a week before we found the pile. If they would have set them again on our property I would have made it my mission to go around in my kayak and set off every trap they set out.

WCc job = drama. Vic always hear about barn/ coop fires and 90% are electrical. A lot of dust collecting in outlets and junction boxes. It surprises me that there aren't more of them. Cindy hope you get your pen situation fixed!

Amy! Looks like an inside day today hope it warms quickly!

Hey ll, just a quick post from my phone while I've got a few minutes...turns out one of my friends who I initially offered my birds to now wants them--first she said no but apparently she changed her mind! So they're leaving today then I have to find my pop door and heat up some charcoal to put around the base of the run so I can get it to unstick from the ground!

After some debacles with the movers I have to run over to the new place, too, while they unload the truck. Argh. Busy day.

Dr haha, glad to hear your dad is doing better!

Everyone, see you on the flip side!

morning all! -21 (reversed your # dr.H)

@ 7 a.m.!!!! come on now, there's crispy then there's rediculous!

Dr HaHa and Cindlady ~ yep, I agree on the dust, etc. in outlets, etc. I try hard to stay on top of that and always tape over open outlets. Brooder lights will just "blow" when the air gets this dry even w/o crazy temp swings. CL ~ yep. I mainly use my oil heater to keep the water from freezing too. Mine has a 'snowflake" setting on it where it automatically kicks in if the temp around it gets near freezing and then kicks off @ around 40o. So glad I have the older one and picked up another last year. I've been watching to grab a new one as a backup but now the only ones I can find are all electronic controls and don''t have that setting on them, sheesh. If it ain't broke I wish they'd stop fixin' it!!!

Well, out to the coop before my eggs freeze solid and taking the girls some warmed up soup with lots of noodles for their breakfast (oh, and nice baking powder biscuit to sop of the juice too of course

)

I can hear you dr H !!!!!!!

A good blessed crispy Sunday everyone!!!!

BBBRRRRR--good chilly morning! I am glad that I am not at that hockey thing! It is outside at Soldier Field. Reminds me of the time that they went to Green Bay to welcome the Pack home after the superbowl and froze their keesters off. No thanks--I dont care HOW much you love the sport! Now if they were PLAYING the sport, that is different; but sitting and watching? Forget it!

GLad Dad is feeling a little better DrH. We will keep on praying!
CInd--if you can work in the daytime I could probably come down and give you a hand. I know how hard it is to do some stuff all by yourself. Let me know.

Today I am helping my friend Peggy to load her stubborn horse. She is moving them to the place that she will be heading to at the end of the month. I will be sad to see her go; will miss our Tuesdays riding together for sure. Hopefully we can stay in touch but that is hard with even a little bit of distance unless both people are committed...

Deli--glad you made it home safe! Must have been SOME dinner!

Gee this coffee tastes fine this morning. My scheme worked! The dogs did not wake me up and I woke up by myself at 7:30...and I wasnt so tired I had to go back to bed either! Yeah, maybe I can get something done today? Probably not outside...the weather guy said that Tomorrow will be in the upper 30s--we will have to see about that!

Need another cuppa--probably back later. Have a good one! TerriOwonderingwhattotacklefirst

BBP- that is inconsiderate to drop carcasses on your property. Every year we find carcas piles dropped on the side of the road on public land that we trap. I just hope that none of the land owners in the area would ever think it was us! Very few can ruin it for all!

Dr H- pelts are graded by size first and the by quality. Every pelt at auction is hand graded and there are a lot of them for sure. The top lot always brings a premium and this year it is thought it would bring over $30 per pelt in that lot! I can listen to the auction live on the internet and plan on doing that on Wed! thanks for the early birthday wish.

Its ccccaaaacaccacold out today, I walked out with no shirt and bare feet to get some wood, whoa...not again!

time for laundry, moping and dishes!

Joe

good AM,

DrH, hope Dad gets to feeling better soon..

I did not work on the pen yesterday.. call me woosie, but it is too cold to be out there with bare hands.. I cannot work with wood with mittens on.. today doesn't look much better..

I have to cut 8 pieces to add on to the corners of the sections.. then I think I will be able to get a clamp on them while I try running the screws in..

yeh, UndaDan, You hit it right on the head,, when working alone, you use any part of your body you can to hold things in place.. I had to laugh when you said foot.. I was standing on part of the section while trying to align the top of it.. then to top it all off,, my cordless drill ran out of power after just 4 screws.. I had it charged, I thought, but after checking the charger base, it was partially unplugged where the cord went into the base.. that was a Hallmark Oh Sh!t moment..

our (now deceased) dog used to wait all year for the neighbor to spread manure on the fields around our place.. to a dog, rolling in that type of stuff is perfume..

Dora and the puppy have been chewing on a deer carcass all winter.. they didn't roll in it, but their breath was rotten enough..

ya know,, turkeys do not have to do the 3 minute drill all that often,, their "hold" time is longer than that of chickens..

IDK if it is my tom, but my % of fertility is about 50%.. this year I have 3 toms, so maybe the competition will increase the fertility..? the old Tom is 7 years old.. and he really looks rough.. his tail has not filled out yet,, and it might not either..
