BBP: LMAO At advertisement-what was it ACTUALLY for????

19 eggs out of 21 hens on Friday!!! And my Mickey (Mommas girl) laid the cutest lil banty egg ever!!! with no added light.
Question: I sprout sunflower seeds but am wondering how far you let them sprout? I usually fed them in 3-4 days when they white sprout just started coming out. The other day left them till there were actual green lil leaves coming out-now wondering which is the right way or does it matter?

Dr H-Hope your dad is feeling better soon.

Came home yesterday to find my dominant roos wattles bleeding and a spot on comb. When watching them, the sub roo still keeps away from dom roo. However, when dom roo is breeding a hen, sub roo is going after dom roo. Sure hope they figure this out before any more injuries!!!
I got the LF blue cochins ordered. They will be in on April 5th, along with salmon faverolles. Hope you have a broody hen to do all the work for you.

BBP: You rock! I can't wait! Thanks for doing this. And sure hope I have a broody...had one most of the winter-now watch them all decide to lay and no broodys-goofy hens!!!

Was there any chance that the blues may be mottled or splash? And have you decided what others you may be adding to your flock? Do you have a chick day scheduled yet? Also which hatchery did you go with?

Afternoon everyone. Been trying to get laundry done today, ugh lol. Boy love is in the air around here, Shifu ( my Rouen/jumbo pekin mix duck I hatched last year) is mating all the females then when he's done my mallard drake are going at them. At least I know I'll have some fertile eggs :) If I get enough I'm going to let DD and her 4-H poultry project kids incubate them. I went to the county poultry comittee meeting last night and of course no one showed so talk about a waste of gas. In the mean time my youngest DD got ahold of scissors while DH was in the shower lol so her hair is chopped on both sides. Oh well, its kind of funny but now she looks goofy. Its looking like I may be getting eggs soon, the girls are getting their red combs and squatting :) . Boy I cant wait for spring. The chicks I ordered wont be here until April, and with seeing all the chick pics I'm going thru withdrawl. lol. Anywho I guess that enough from me. Hope everyone has a good evening.

DrH - I hope your dad is feeling better
BL4 - hope kitty gets better

Angiebubs - Our big chick day is going to be Saturday, April 6th. We'll have a bunch of varieties of chicks, free food and beverages, a presentation on family flock management, door prizes and chicken poop bingo. The chicks are all from Welp hatchery. I'm really hoping I don't get a big, dead box of chicks that day! But it should be plenty warm by then that I don't have to worry. The cochins were labeled blue, but I would assume that would include splash. It showed a blue hen in the picture, but blue breeds black and splash also, so hopefully they send a couple of splash.
To my flock this year I am adding some turkeys (royal palm and white midget), silver penciled rocks, chocolate orpingtons and possibly some jubilee orpingtons. I'm hoping to keep a pair of turkeys over winter and butcher the others this fall. But I know turkeys can be very friendly, so I may not have the heart to do it.

good aft, I did not go to F&F,, I just rustled up some old bar clamps and made them do..

I did add a few feet to the forks and used them for a work table.. then I used the work table as forks again, to carry the two joined sections down to the building site..

the one cordless drill I had charged up fizzled on me.. only one screw and it was dead.. It is a real cheapie, so I am not surprised.. Annie did find my good cordless.. I am trying to get both power packs charged up for tomorrow.. so far they are not taking a charge.. they were out in the old car and prolly are too cold..

here is my buddy Ollie with his extended reach forks on the bucket.
holding two sections that I have screwed together to make one wall..

here is a close-up of the wall,, it is 8 feet from the bucket to the opposite end,, and 11 feet from the near edge to the far end..

this is the beginning of construction.. the sections I had screwed together are being held up by the bottom two sections of the long wall.. they are only clamped together until tomorrow, so I hope we don't get any strong winds tonight..

the near end is where the door will go .. and then there will be another assembly just like the one shown coming in from the opposite direction .. the finished length will be 24 feet 10 inches..

hopefully one of the grandsons will be here tomorrow to help hold things erect while I fasten them together..

If the drill does not take a charge, I am going to go buy a new one.. this would be cordless drill # 8 for me..
