BigFam ~~ Glad yours are feeling better. I didn't sleep much last night.. Only went through 2 pair of PJ's but he slept with us...and everytime his tummy would rumble, I would wake up in a panic!

I'm pretty new here too, but everyone is really nice and very helpful! ~~ My husband thinks I have Lost my mind as well... sigh....

Jim ~~ Wish you were closer. I sure could use your carpenter "talents".~~ New coop renovation ~~ Bar to finish in basement ~~~ 1400 sq Feet to sand ~~ stairwell to mud and finish .... hubby "thinks" he is a carpenter, but deep down, he knows that he isn't... LOL .. or it would be DONE by now!!!

All this snow...ggrr... this time last year I was riding my horses OUTSIDE!! All the snow keeps shorting out my snappy little water bowl and the lights in the coop. Girls seem happier without the lights though. Got 6 eggs out of the 8 yesterday!

Good thing they are running behind with my chicks... I figured our weather would have been better by now....

Well since i have jumped in to your chats and you asked I ll tell you a little about myself. 1st I am a terrible typer !!!!!!! I live 8mls west of fond du lac on a nice sized hobby farm. got myself a wonderful wife of 33 yrs. 3 children, all raised and gone, married an all. sadly they all live out of state. 2 awsome little grandsons and a grand daughter on the way. Kath my wife and I have lived out here for about 20 yrs. we ve raise all kinds of diff critters in the past, great experience with the kids. however we have trimmed down to just our chickens as we do travel some to see the family so we keep it simple. As for the girls[chickens] I m not a purist, I just raise what ever I see that I like. several diff. kinds. I go for the color, variety and temprement sorry bout that its just for fun. might get a few ducks. maybe calls, had them before, really like them. hope to build anew coop this year. really enjoy the chatter!!!!

the one group of eggs should be coming out around March 26th and the others April 1st.

sun is trying to shine here currently, hoping that will help the sap run into the buckets, we have about 10 gal again waiting to be boiled down. Finished our first batch, ended up with 14.5 pints, tastes pretty good too!

back to paperwork....... have a good one!

so far we have only come up with 3 pints of maple gold here. The sap is just not running like in years past. I blame the drought.

even last year we ended up with a gallon.

speaking of a year ago, I was watching my pear trees flower and then freeze, all before the bees woke up. I can take this weather as long as it gets me my 10 bushel of pears this year.

Hi I'm Chris a mom of 2 kiddos and a bunch of critters! We live in the Wausau area on a small hobby farm. I have just become a a BYC member as I recently picked up a batch of chicks that will be added to my adult flock eventually and realized I may need some help with this endeavor! It's great to hear about all your chicks and other hobbies!

When the trees bloomed like that last year, I borrowed some 50 gal drums to a guy at wodk. He lit fires in them by his trees. He still got some fruit... not like usual tho...

I feel like I live such a boring life. Everyone here has so much to say and so much going on. I guess I just don't feel like anyone would have any interest in my boring life. Get up, let 1 dog outside, go out check on silkie ladies, go and yell at 1 silkie boy to let other boy eat, come in and get daughter up, let her dog out, daughter does school through RVA so get class started, peek in at new chicks, and blah, blah, blah, zzzzzzzzzzz, snore, zzzzzz. See how boring!

Maybe you could help Jim (jvls) build chicken tractors
