Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good noon hour,

I am about 60 posts behind so I am replying one page at a time..

UnkaDan,  I hatched a Spanish black one time  He was very pretty,   but then he slipped (or was pushed ; murdered) off the roost and got hung upside down where he died..

I am tempted to get a couple of those midget whites (vertically challenged turkeys)   ..

how much do they weigh dress out ?  we need only a very small bird for only 3 ov us old people. If we need more, we can always cook 2 or 3 ..

what type of body shape do they have ?  is it like the wild turkeys ?  torpedo shaped ?

sunshine,,  trading does not reduce the size of your flock,  unless you trade 2 for one..

no comment about the bunny's embarrassing pose..

Well once you see these vertically challenged turkeys you will totally want them. They are so fun, curious, sweet natured, and easy to raise. Well once you get them past the baby stage.

Last year I had toms dressed between 10 and 20 lbs. most ranged right around 13 to 15 which is a nice size for a small family.

How about rodent live traps out by your coops or bird feeders? Won't cost as much as the electricity.

True, but for the few I would actually catch, wouldn't be worth the disease/parasite load involved with them or the risk they may have eaten picked up something that could harm the snakes (rodenticide, heavy metals, pesticides from the fields, etc.)

good evening,, I was not feeling bad about nobody reading my posts until CC pointed it out to us..
well, at least several of you are reading.. and TO<< I read EVERY post on the cheeseheads.. even yours..

on these cold days you should ride your horse bareback.. (not yours , the horses) then all that gets cold are your feet because you cut the circulation off to them..

and you guys should take it easy on me.. I owe my non-success to to fact that I became an orphan at the tender age of 70..

I have 5 guinea eggs to go in the bator.. I have to wait a couple more days for my rotation of hatch dates.. I also have 4 more dozen eggs from Pang.. she said she has 9 chickens laying.. she must be collecting eggs from her mother's hens to come up with this many eggs every few days..

I will have about 130 of her eggs in the bator after this batch goes in..

there is a slight odor in the bator room.. IDK if is a bad egg,, or just the cooked egg smell that some eggs give off..

I hope it is warm tomorrow.. Annie offered to help me hoist up a couple of roof sections.. It took me about a half hour to get one up by myself,, with help, it should tale only 10 minutes.. I can put three more up before I have to finish the framing over the door for the last two. there are 6 in all..

Ok, that one glass of Sangria did nothing.. time for another one so I can get to sleep early tonight...

Brent, I can just imagine the race over at camp to see who gets to plow..

I plowed a big pile of snow under my apple tree to keep it from blossoming early.. last year the blossoms all froze and we got zilch for apples.. I really should prune also.. time is running out for that.. I did not do it last year.. I have some suckers about 10 feet long.. I like when my brother helps me prune,, he is fearless.. " cut that one, cut that one, and keep cutting til you think the tree will die".. we took the same pruning class,, I guess he heard something that I didn't..

Hey Jim. i dont speak fluent alphabet. what is I D K ?? Also when my chickens have respiratory issues I put raw apple cider vinegar in small ammounts into the water. I was just quoting you, Jimbo.

Alot of people on here use ACV in their chicken waterers in the summer to, among other things, keep slime from forming. Just don't use it in a metal waterer. Sweet dreams, all, and thanks for the info, Hurley.

Hi All!

dbca... so sorry about your flock! Hopefully if it ever happens again you can catch it early and head it off!

Bf4m... congrats on the hatch!

BBP.... Wow! I think you ordered 1/2 the hatchery! LOL Sure hope you have lots of room!

Hurley.... Yes, that's humerus humor. I have an online friend that was hatching quail and chicks for her snakes. She tried staggering the hatches for when the snakes should be hungry. I think she gave up on it though.

cuties... cute cuties!

JJ....You can come pickup the noodles Wed or Thur if that's OK with you. Your getting TO's too?

OK... tired...Time for bed. Night All
