Selective quoting going on here. :p

Please tell me you have hens to go with him and can offer eggs/chicks?? :drool

Got a PM from someone on here alerting me that a seller on Ebay was using pics of my Jaerhons to sell their eggs. Sent off a cease-and-desist email. Sure hope they take it down without it getting nasty. Not asking permission from a photog is rude, but why not use pics of your own dang birds? Unless they really suck?

Ugh. Trying to do this from my Nook is frustrating. Yes, I got two hens as well. I have 9 eggs in the incubator as a test hatch.

I would be upset about someone using my pictures to sell their birds. Hope this person can be made to stop!

So all you duckie people i need your advice- remember how you all were saying that my duckling from TSC were actually Pekins and not Runners? Well I called them last week to ask them about it. He said he would contact the hatchery and see what he could find out and call me when the next batch came in and we would work something out. Ok- so he called today and said that what happened was that the very first batch they got was labeled Runners, but the next batches were just marked ducklings and they assumed they were runners. So he think I very well may have gotten pekins instead. I can either have a refund of the 4 ducklings, or they would save 4 of the new batch of either pekins or a black ducklings that he said are mallards. Thoughts? I don't think that I want more Pekins(if that is what they are) but what do you all think about mallards? Is 8 ducks a lot? I don't want to get in over my head here either..... I would love any feedback you all could give me!

Same thing happened to me! I didn't even call them though because I didnt want more ducks and I grew kind of atttached to the Pekins over the last 5 weeks. I only got two so I wasnt going to hassle over $8.

Mallards might migrate on you...to me 8 ducks is a lot of messy ducks.

Eh 8 ducks isnt to many :) I have 5 adult mallards ( was 7 but an eagle took 2), 1 adult pekin, 1 adult Rouen mix ( he was suppose to be rouen only but oh well), and now my 3 week old babies all mixed from eggs from my flock, and 2 week old rouens. Ducks are so cool. Personally I would keep the 4 Pekins and get 4 mallards :) I like have a mixed flock , I 'm not big on looking at an entire flock of the same thing.

ETA: I do not clip my mallards and none have migrated. I am assuming because my bigger ducks cant fly they decided to stay with them, that or they love all the treats they get ;)

Ok Update- they just called me back and said the store manager just got off the phone with the hatchery to get everything straight, and that the hatchery guaranteed that they ones they received today are definetly runners and rouens. Now what?

I'm home on lunch and that mallard hen isn't here. I'm really sad that she led my only pastel pair off. The worst part is, I hadn't gotten any eggs out of them yet, so I can't even look forward to pastels hatching.

I have to spend so much time reading, I'm left with little time to post... Can't keep up with this group!
I too am tired of the weather... Trying hard not to think of last spring when the tulips and daffodils were already done by now.
With all this rain, our bottom acreage is under several feet of water. Never seen so much. The good news is that I now have a large assortment of geese, ducks and who knows what other kind of waterfowl to watch out the window.
Posting pics of adorable babies is not nice when one is very diligently trying to keep down numbers...
