Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I just wanted to thank the ladies for coming to visit today! It sure was nice meeting Vicki & Kendra, and finally getting Terri over here. What a good time we had! I hope my DH didn't scare you off.

And I hope you all had a safe journey home. Thank you again for coming & buying my chicks, Kendra. I hope you like them as much as I do. Sorry they were so skittish for you.

They really are sweet babies, and a sweet breed. It really was a fun afternoon! Thanks for coming.

I had a great time and enjoyed meeting all of you and seeing CC's chickens (and of course bringing some home). No, your husband didn't scare us off!! We had a bit of a drive to Deli's house and then an additional 30 min. to mine. And since I had to use up my spare heat bulb last night, I needed to stop on the way home to get one. The lavs are settled down in their new digs and sleeping.
Colton,
Thank you for sharing your family..you are all so cute!!
I hope you do come here for help when you need it

I have a really good time today with the girls! Thank you for your hospitality! You have a beautiful home!

TO always a pleasure and I get to pick you up in the morning for class

Kendra..always so nice spending time with you..we need to do dinner soon.. make a date on the calendar for next month and let me know. Maybe a cook out? Cuties? I will try to make Kendra make the date after the chicks arrive and you and your hubby can come for dinner too. And anyone else who wants to pick up chicks next month. I will make it an open invitation to anyone.
Great pics Colton!

Del- We'd love to head out for a BBQ. When are the chicks arriving?
Guys I got a question, do you think a 6 ft. by 7 ft. coop will hold 13 chickens? I got to design a coop for my friends family and they want a coop for 13 standard sized chickens.
If they will be in it for any length of time beyond sleeping, I think it is too small. But if they will be free ranging all day, it could be fine. The 5 ft height would be a concern for me however as I like being able to stand inside the coop.

It has been a long and busy (mostly fun) day!

Had to run around a lot this morning. DD12 has a competition at Northern Illinois University all day today and tomorrow, so I had to get her out the door with everything that she needed by 6:45am...ugh! Then a doctor appt and spent most of the day in chicken talk with the girls (Del, CC, TO)

. DH wanted to go out to eat, so after I got all of the chickens fed, watered, etc we went to a pizza place close by with some friends and I just got home. Man am I tired!!!
I was supposed to run soccer practice yesterday, but with all of the rain, our schedule has cleared up due to poor field conditions. So there has been some benefit to all of this rain after all.

Some games have already been canceled for this weekend and others are pending.

The lav orps keep intermittingly acting like there is something wrong (chirping loudly). I go check on them and have been repeatedly showing them the waterer and food. CC- what temp did you have them at today?

Wow, look what I found on CL... Not Chicken related.... And not the gas company I have but just thought this was interesting....... wonder if it's true ?

Oh and Heather, I'm sure you would keep me in full supply !!! I'll have to see what you have by the bash !

Oh and boy oh boy, I told you all that I had to be in Racine to babysit the week of May 3rd..... well I called my niece and it is the week of the 13th !!!

Geez Louise !!! Told you all my memory is fading... Ok well it's gone !!!!

are they eating/drinking anything?
Are they under the light and warm enough ? Can't think of any other reason they would be peeping unless like Colton asked if they are eating and drinking and of course warm enough. Or maybe to warm if you have a 250watt bulb on them and a small area?

Maybe they miss Mama Robin ?? lol

Hi again! I saw that the temp at CC's was rightaround 95.0 HTH. they should be fine at a lower temp being a week old. Who knows with chicks?

Great fam Colt! Thanks for the pic,,,I still feel sorry for that sister of yours! She and Mom have to take a "girl's" trip soon!

I have read WAY too many posts tonight...I am off to bed!
Good night good folks! TerriO

What a handsome family, Colton! Your mother looks very young and beautiful! I hope you boys are good to your sister! Thanks for sharing!

My daughter left some frozen bread dough in my freezer awhile back and it looked freezer burned/dry to me so I tried to get them to rise (not much luck) and I baked them up for the chickens. I wasn't hungry and I usually don't like to eat late at night but the smell of baked bread is torturing me! What we won't do for our critters, eh?

All I can say is any weight gain I experience from this is all their fault! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
