Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Dear sweet Robin. I'm drinking enough that when I can't walk straight, I'm parking my butt in her lap and she can roll me over to my camper.

. (no, not roll OVER me on the way to the camper)

Frenchie I'd lock that leg up when you take it off because I might come up with a drunken scavenger hunt. Except when it's drunken you don't always remember where you hid stuff...

Mischief and mayhem should be my middle names!
At least you finally got that right.

And the rolling over you part too.

Now before you go getting that shocked and innocent look on your face, Heather, just remember that not only do you not respect your elders, but you have absolutely no regard for the physically challenged. Tsk, tsk. So if I were you, I'd be very careful where your toes are at all times when at the bash.

And a drunken lump passed out on the ground can easily be mistaken for a speed bump, ya know.

Us cripples gotta stick together & watch out for one another. Right Frenchie?

Sunday Evening To Everyone Nice.... Sounds delish tomski, I know others that will be there friday that love pork and kraut too. keep it simple always works best.

Yep, watched the race today CC. Dang it, Junior was lookin really good again late in the race. You were right about him prolly not having a great race at Kansas. Almost though!

Frozen pizza doctored up with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, olives and more cheese....actually not to bad with a cold brew for wash.

Prolly go set up a couple turkey tents in the morning in preperation of the Wed hunt. Saw 2 toms and about 10 hens 100 yards from the driveway on the way to church early this morning. I'll be hunting on the back 40...hope they can hear my love calls early, and come running.

Have Fun, I will...bigz

Ha...you guys are good for a laugh!
Sent a lot of the day fixing the coop run door...we bought a new one and I got it painted. Dh and I added some wire fabric to make it like Fort Knox...then put some pavers in front of the door where the mud freezes funny and broke the last door...no more mud to freeze. Now to put up my white picket fence and add some mor wine colored paint accents to the green coop. Love the color! And deal with the muddy swamp in the run. We bout extra sand so might put some in the worst spots.
Taking chicks to school again tomorrow...this is the hard part with the twins in different classrooms. They need to be in different rooms, but it is twice the snacks and twice the show and shares. Chicks are three weeks old, and getting big. The two heather shared are cuties and very plucky and in the study until they gt a little bigger. Started great training the three week olds. Funny enough, not seem scared except for the two little polish. They come running.
Need to grow some live meal worms...the dried ones get expensive

OK Delsih-you have me stressing now! They sold these as sexed pullets-better not be any males in there!!!
feather sexing is hard to do and it works..for some breeds, at very spacific times in the first few days. Not all breeds can be feathered sexed. Sexing chicks at hatch works in color sexing breeds, and pattern breeds. Vent sexing works 80% of the time with experts doing it. I see combs. If you see combs at such a young age it is usually the males that show first, but not always.

Like the lavender orps..if they are bred to a chocolate orp..the mauve chicks will all be female. The black chicks will be mixed.
Your Maran should be black and white..it looks light black and white..females are dark..males are lighter..could be my computer too.

CC: Not quite 3 weeks old. And I have a hard time ever getting rid of ANY of my chickens so I sure hope there are no males. ARGH!!!! I have two boys now that arent getting along very well....complete sweethearts I carry them around and they enjoy getting petted-but theya rent getting along......so I sure hope i dont have to go through trying to find homes for any more boys :-(

Funny thing-the maran is the one that has been a little more active etc......and wondered about HER (trying to not jinx this). But since these are four differnt breeds its hard to compare personalities, size, feather growth, comb growth, etc.

It is pretty difficult, for me anyway, to sex chicks. Some just mature faster than others. I had 4 LO & 2 BO chicks a year ago. I tried the feather sexing thing & thought I had a male and a female BO. Even their body shape was different from each other as chicks and they had different size combs, so I thought for sure a boy & a girl. Nope. Completely wrong. Both were females. So try not to stress too much about it. They'll fool you time and time again. They do it to me all the time, so now I just wait til they either crow or lay an egg.

Ok, where was I ?

I wasn't finished telling you all about my walk back from the barn..... The little old lady was walking and talking and I was huffing and puffing !!! Mind you I'm only 54 yrs young !!!! I was to ashamed to say "Hay (get it Hay not Hey LOL) I need to stop and rest here !!! " so I kept walking looking up to see just how far I had to go !!!
I did manage to get in three words while walking though !!! """"" I"m out of shape " LOL
So I made it as far as her chicken coop and decided this was a good place to stop walking and said (like I didn't remember) "So this is your coop right?" That bought me a few seconds to catch my breath !!!!
So we then continued to walk and she talked and we finally made it to the house.... Thank god.... She said... have a seat at the table...... No problem I couldn't wait...

She then served me coffee and cookies !!!!! LOL Just what I needed !!!! Now I'll huff and puff even more if this eating streak keeps up !!!

Then come to find out 5 years ago she had by pass surgery...... Well no wonder she wasn't huffing and puffing !!! Maybe I need one too !!!!

Actually I am on heart meds and I'd be yelled at big time if I went to my cardiologist right now.....
hide.gif
That did it, I've made up my mind.... I'm going on a diet........

The day AFTER I get home from the Bash !!!
thumbsup.gif
I mean really this 78 yr old lady has a huge garden that she digs and plants all by herself. She said even after her surgery. Then she said she had the surgery on a Thursday and came home on Sunday. No one came to help her. She is one tough cookie.... Oh $hit I said cookie, makes me want more......

Oh and on the horse front. For those of you who didn't make it to the Wis Horse Fair in Madison, my sister did and she said it wasn't that good this year. The only big clinician was a guy with the last name Winter???? Never heard of him and she said the show wasn't that good. ???

Ok, well so much for helping people find chicks. My neighbors were going to order chicks and I was going to add three buff orps to the order. Then they found out (after I looked it up) that they couldn't get the BR's that they wanted until June. So I found Ideal Poultry had them and they could get them this week.
Text ET's boss and told him I would have them and asked what kind of rooster did he want. Ok, thought it was all confirmed. Now neighbor doesn't want them until her husband is home from work the next time (he leaves for 10 days at a time).....
hide.gif
Ok, so that's fine I just text back and said well you better order soon or you still won't get them.
My gosh don't these people know how many times I've filled my shopping cart on McMurray, Ideal, Cackle and Strombergs ?????? Seriously, I'd look at all of the chicks, fill in what they wanted then shopped for myself. Keeping tract (or trying to) when what chicks were available.
I found out the hard way that Ideal's shopping cart will empty out even if you don't close the window !!!
I had ducks in there, magpies..... California whites (black and white leghorn).... porcelain dutch(cause I he one lonely rooster) some other kind of black and white leghorn... you know for my black and white theme around here. Then my cart would empty and I'd start over..... only to find my cart never had the same things in it !!!!! So I give up..... I don't need a darn thing anyway.... It was more like just a wish list anyway !!!!

Oh, I know what you horse people missed... My sister said there was a talk on Why it was good to keep poultry around horses. Helps so they don't get spooked while out riding etc when something hops in front of them. She said the room was packed full of chicken people. I guess Nutrena was there with their booth and the guy had a Rooster. She described the guy and I said I'm pretty sure the guys name is Twain, his wife is on BYC... Then my sister said...... .Those Chicken People Really Love Their Chickens !!!!...............I thought NO $HIT !!!! as I thought about all of you !!!!!! ps My sister isn't a chicken person (she's a poodle person)

Ok, back to my Duck threads... learning more about the color genetics, Anocana and magpie ducks.
