Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh great Brent... You had to bring up the Daisy Dukes, didn't you? Honestly, I'd pay one of you old farts to make yourself some Dukes and wear them for 2 hrs at the Bash. A quick $20 for the brave man to show off too much leg and a little butt cheek... :D

(iam not paying for someone to show off their yucky/yummy balls though... Uh huh!)

Hopin I can dig out the daisy dukes tomorrow...tis the season.

My DH was the same way; meat, potatoes, and (homemade) canned veggies..... and then he started coming over to my house where we served stir fry, tacos, weird veggies like artichokes..... he will eat anything..... he actually requested that I NOT make boiled potatoes when we were first married.... I think I waited a year and a half before I made him boiled potatoes again. I am forever grateful that he will eat whatever I make (of course if he gave me any cr@p about what was for dinner he would be wearing it). I enjoy cooking and love to expose my kids to different foods and flavors, different styles of cooking and region specific dishes. I was astounded when I made quinoa and everyone ate it up! I figure if you do not like what I made, there is the kitchen figure out something else or starve.

What the heck is wrong with Brussels sprouts????? I think they taste WONDERFUL!!! I have some plants in my greenhouse right now.

The excitement today: my oldest DD broke her big toe in gym class. They were playing soccer and of COURSE she plays soccer like a maniac! She went to kick the ball and instead of connecting with the ball she kicked a kid in the foot.... hard enough to fracture the big bone of the big toe right near the joint. It is only a crack of one section of the bone (not straight across) so she has a walking boot for now. What really stinks is that she had just gotten a new job at a local greenhouse! Fingers crossed she has been given permission to ditch the boot when the Bash rolls around!

I suppose I should head to bed, it is about that time.

Everyone enjoy the weather tomorrow! I think I will give my ducks a visit.

In case no one was sure: the daisy duke wearing is for the men only at the Bash. May be we can get Steve and Derek to throw some on after a few drinks...? Terri? Robin? Can you make your men some???

Trust me, that is NOT something you wanna see, if you enjoy your eyesight. What about your young hubby? He has to be in pretty good shape with that job of his. Care to share any pics????

ETA: the only thing you're gonna see Steve & Derek doing after a few (too many) drinks is hurl their cookies.

No luck on the missing chicken, her name is/was Princess. I guess it would be stupid to leave them out like I used to. For now I am trying to only let them out after I get home around 6:00 and I put the terrier out there with them. I checked all the evergreens in the area, no luck. Those of you that let your girls free range do you just accept that you will lose some? This is the first time in two years. When you only have five, that is 20%.

Is it too early to replace her? I guess I would need two if I am introducing new chickens. Does anyone have any POL pullets ready or almost ready? I tried the person on Craigslist but I am not getting an answer. I don't want to push it with six. My coop is 4x6 inside, it is elevated so there space under it and then a 3x6 pen on the end. There is around five foot of roost space.
Sorry to hear about your girl..I have several pullets..but not sure where you live..I am in south wi
I have a cherry egger and several orp crosses
Hi,
Thanks for the info on the BLRW! Pretty! Cute chicks too!

Went out to feed and water and noticed one of my hens was having trouble breathing. Couldn't see anything, none of the other had an issue. Her croop was empty but she was gasping badly! Within a half hour she was dead. I'll open her up later to see if I can find anything. She was a cool year old hen too. A pretty blue Cochin cross.

So sorry to hear about the losses!!! It's hard to lose your feathered and furry kids!
Daisy Dukes on men?? I think I'm going to have to poke out my mind's eye!

I have no idea why I can't gag down a brussels sprout. I'm not a picky eater at all but I could see myself eating fried grasshoppers before I could get one of them inside my mouth. My daughter has the same problem with beets - ever since she was a baby. I couldn't mix beets with other veggies to disguise them; It was the only food she spit out as a baby/toddler.

Quirky taste buds!

I LOVE beets! Mushrooms too. But DH thinks they taste "like dirt".

He will eat them when I make them, though. Good thing, cuz I throw mushrooms in darn near everything. Yum!
I was the pickiest darn eater when I was a kid. Now I'll eat darn near anything I'm not allergic to. I'm still working on getting some of you to try one of my favs. Yeah Terri, you know what I'm gonna say. You warn everyone about it. Yup. Here it comes. Head cheese!

Here we go again!

was out in the coop with the littles today. I stayed in there with them because the three orpington are still picking on the littles.I was in there scratching at the ground with a stick and they'd come running to where I was scratching. At one point the "orks" scared the littles and they came running to me and hid under my skirt.
I dealt with my first 2injuries today. One little tried to fly from atop a shelf bracket, clumsily fell and got his wing caught in the narrow portion where it comes to a "V". Luckily I was in there and pushed his feet up freeing him. Otherwise I'd. Have come home to a dead bird hanging from his armpit. Second injury was a foot that had multiple cuts just tiny ones but at the nail and a few joints. I think he stepped inthe hay holder for the rabbit. Otherwise I don't know what could have done it. So I have two things to correct...remove hay feeder and protect bird armpits by installing a covrr or board over shelf bracket.
