Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sorry for every ones losses.
Hard wire is the only way to go. Fort Knox at night.

Does anyone need to be NPIP tested?
I will be going up to the Waupaca area to do some testing, and to share cost, it would be great if others in the area needed some birds done. We would need to have it all done of the same day. I am only taking one trip.

'I just read through a LOT of posts and it's so late that all I can remember is oatmeal soap, chocolate sluts and fluffy butts."

Uhh...I missed the chocolate sluts...somehow...what's the scoop on that??

BigFam - What's all this about your thearapist issues? What's goign on? How old is Halden and what's he been diagnosed with? What a crazy bunch of b/s you've had to deal with with those therapists! :(

Who said "Happy spring!" C'mere! Ima gonna bash you! Thanks for jinxing us! LOLOL!

I was just sitting here reading on BYC, when I got up to start making dinner and look out the window to find a red fox in the yard again. I made the kids go out and chase him off. Then I sent the dog after it, but apparently he only has a nose for chipmunks because he got confused and ran the wrong way. If that fox would have come an hour earlier I wouldn't have been home and all my chickens and ducks are out free ranging. I've been gone all day. He picked a bad time I guess. I got lucky again.
I had a Canada goose egg in my incubator that was no good. I set it outside and it was gone the next morning. I also have this endless cycle of eggs under my broodies because the other hens just keep adding to the 5 nests. So I go candle every couple of days and take all the ones that haven't started developing and set them in the woods for the critters (skunks, coons, whatever). They're gone every morning. I have an unwanted rooster that sleeps outside every night but nothing takes him. My call ducks stayed out one night without me knowing and all 3 of them got eaten. I hate how that works.

So my swap dudn't go very well at all, and I am NOT a happy camper! This was further away than I wanted to drive and THEE ONLY reason I went is because of ONE LADY who had so much of what I was looking for, I figured it'd totally be worth it to go and then to just browse thru what everyone else had and it'd be a [relatively] great day. I typed out the list of what I wanted (facebook group) in her post and she DID initially say that she doesn't hold for people any more, BUT I told her that I GUARANTEE that I will buy what is on my list and she can hold me to it. Her response? Was to tell me [in a PUBLIC FORUM WHERE EVERYONE ELSE CAN SEE SHE SAID IT] was to PM her my list. So even tho I already had it in one of my comments, I resent it to her by private message and we talked back and forth a few times. When I got there this morning I found out that she in fact DID NOT hold out for me and she sold WELL over 1/2 of what was on my list. I was ******!!
This is what I told her I wanted and what I ended up with:
(I told her I will guarantee the lower numbers and will see what else I get and look thru more and may take more of the other ones. So where I told her I'd take 2-4, I would guarantee I'd take 2 no matter what, but would prob. get more, just depending on how much I liked them when I saw them and what else she had that I was digging thru)

- 1 Naked Neck turken pullet, partridge, std sz
I got the 1 I asked for

- 2-4 D'Uccles (I wanted 2 Mille Fluers and 1-2 porceleans. She only had 1 porcelean left, so I snagged it (pullet), and also got a pullet & cock of the
Mille's. She said I CAN breed the male to either of them and I'll either get 1 color or the other, or possible blue Millies.

- 1-2 splash silkie pullets
She only had 1 left when I got there, so I snagged it

- Trio of red crested red Polish, std sz
She only had 4 pullets left and NO COCKS when I specifically said I wanted a TRIO!

- 2-3 silver laced Polish, std sz
None left, sold them all

- 1-2 gold laced Cochin pullets, std sz
None left, sold them all

- I also told her I'd be interested in looking at other Cochin colors, black, blue, white, and if she had any splash or coocoo I'd take them.
None left. Sold EVERY SINGLE ONE of her Cochins before I could get there. (Really?? You can't freaking set aside ONE **** CHICK???)

- also said I would more than likely take a trio of her blue sweedish ducks
None left, sold them all.

- 12 painted Japanese Button Quail
None left, sold them all. This especially ticked me off the most out of everything else b/c it was for my kids b/c we had 5 baby ones before, but the dickheads digging us power lines in our front yard hit a cable and we lost electricity for over a day. All 5 buttons died and several bantam chicks, too, b/c of no heat lamp. So the kids were PUMPED for these guys! I even told her that if someone else came along and was serious about wanting them, I'd be willing to split it in half, so 6 vs 12. Nope! Why did they even SEE them in the first place? She sholdn't have had them out in the open! She should have had them in a box under the table w/my name on it and should've had another box w/everything else I wanted and put them under the table!

So, bottom line? Out of 30 birds I only came home with 6.

SIX!!!!!

Not to mention the fact that I filled up my gas tank ($65) and am now so bone dry IDK HOW I crawled into the driveway, so now I need to put MORE money in the gas tank. Plus I bought breakfast AND lunch for me & 3 of the kids (more money spent), plus bought 3 extra birds from someone else who bought from that lady but felt sorry for me so she let me buy some of the ones SHE bought from HER since she bought multiples (thanks!), plus running myself ragged going on only 3 hrs of sleep, getting my whiney kids up at 3:30AM and on and on and on, just to get up there and she freaking sells everything out from under me when she even SAID "PM me your list".

Needless to say? I did NOT buy the Sebastopol Geese from her like I wanted to. She screwed me over so I was not about to give her $100 + of easy money. Needless to say? She couldn't sell them and went home with them...AGAIN!

Halden will be 4 next week. He was just diagnosed with moderate to severe autism in Dec.

I've never been to a swap. I would have been irate by what that woman did. I wouldnt have bought a darn thing from her. Way better folks to buy from I say!

Ah. My 16 yr old has Asperger's Syndrom (high functioning autism).

The only reason I still bought from her is b/c no one else had turkens, no one else had the elusively rare red crested red polish, no one else had D'Uccles and we lost our 2 when the power went out and they died from no heat lamp, and that only leaves the 1 splash silkie. But that one was for my kindergardener and I wasn't about to put her in the middle of my anger w/that woman and explain to her why she can't have her chicken that I promised her. She'd think SHE was being punished. The lady had plenty of others to choose from, but I didn't bother to browse. I just bought the hard to find ones that I felt like I would've shrivled up and died if I didn't get. I've gotten bit by the chicken bug, what can I say? {{shrugs}}

I have to say with the dealings I have on Craigslist and even on Facebook poultry pages I would not hold anything for anyone, especially that amount of birds. There are a lot of people making promises and then never showing up to fulfill them - Jim is very experienced in getting stood up from CL responders. I just had a lady from Facebook that lives near me lined up to get some bantam cochins that she's been hounding me about for a year. I finally hatched some for her (usually I sell and ship the eggs). We had it all lined up for her to pick up last Saturday at 2 and she never showed!!!! I still have some of the chicks and sold some to a friend for $2 each. I guess I don't blame her for a first come, first served attitude. I know its frustrating that you drove all that way and got a fraction of what you wanted. And she should have stuck to her "no holding birds" policy and told you that.

Good afternoon! Sorry about your troubles with that lady Psycho! But speaking from the side that is doing the selling....there are MANY folks that SAY they are going to show up...and then dont. Right Jim? Earlier on this thread we placed bets on if this one or that one would show. You just never know as a seller..."money in hand..." ya know? I am not condoning what she did to you...if I would have had all the assurances that you gave I would have held the birds for you. Especially if they were "hard to come by" varieties. There is always another buyer!

Hey CCCCCCCC....I have a pic for youuuuuuuu!

This is a "Fruits of the Farm" pic that I just took out of the oven! It is for DH's B-day...finally I made it! I will give a report of the taste after dinner...this is my first GF try at pie crust! In the past I have won many award for my pie crust...I will say that this dough was a real beotch to work with! I am hoping I get used to it cause I used to bake a pie a couple of times a week...it looks good anyhow....
Yes CC and Steve stopped by to show us their new camper(all I can say is WOW!) and to pick up the peahen that I got from my friend. I opened the door of their truck and she almost fell out cause she had her arm on the armrest! SHEESH! (sorry again CC!) So a word to the wise; if CC is in the vehicle---DONT OPEN THE DOOR!
