We got a huge amt of outside work done today. At least, considering the weather was kinda crappy and we weren't out for too long, we got a LOT done in the time we WERE out. Hubby got frustrated and decided to buy some weed killer for the garden. I can't take this anymore. There's no way I can pluck every single blade of grass, every friggin' weed, dig out every clump of dandelion, and who knows wth else is growing out there. I can work for HOURS and still not be fully done with 1/4th of it!!! The stuff does say that 's safe to use in flower gardens and vegetable gardens. But it says to wait 3 days to plant. I think I'd rather give it a week. but DH says they're not going to tell you that if it isn't safe. They have to go thru strict testing with that stuff before they can say to just throw it out in your veggie garden that ppl will be eating. So I guess we'll see. We got so so so sooooooooo much cleaning done in the house over the last week or two to get ready for our family/friends coming over for our Memorial Day get-together. There's still stuff to do, like clean the stuff out of the den that got shoved in there w/the door closed so no one would see the mess! LMAO! And I have to finish cleaning the spare bedroom, as that's kinda become a catch-all junk room and I friggin HATE that! Finish getting caught up on laundry, and I've also got to get the older batch of chicks outside, clean/bleach the sterelite tub out, and then move the middle batch into there so they have extra room. The older ones like to fly up and perch on the edge and I'm constantly cleaning a ring of bird doo off my laundry room floor but I haven't taken the time to do it since Thursday b/c I've been so busy cleaning the rest of the house. I just kept the laundry rm door closed when everyone was over. HA! Well now Iv'e got a bigger mess to clean. Oh, well. Comes with the territory.

The girls and I are getting excited about chickenstock and have stuff packed and/or set aside already on top of a running list of things not to forget and last minute food to buy. DD16's getting really excited about the stewpot so I'm afraid I can't turn her down. I have a huge pot I can cook on the stovetop or I can bring a different thing to cook it in the oven. It doesn't sound like the firepit would be compatable w/what I origionally had in mind, no biggie, I'll just use on of the burners on the stove. I'm bringing a lot of bulk ingredients, if anyone feels like adding to the stew let me know. If anyone can spare a few carrot sticks, a few celery sticks, 3 or 4 potatoes, maybe a pound of beef? I'll prob. grab a cpl loaves of french bread to cut up and put on a platter so everyone can help themselves.

We may bring some games. I'll see if I can dig out my badminton set, maybe a soccerball to kick around for the kids, scoop toss, frisbee, maybe cards or a cpl board games?

You're one busy lady, Psyco! Hope to be able to get to the bash one evening and try out some of your stew!

Hi all. Got part if my garden planted and I over did it for sure! Forty tomatoes twenty five cauliflower thirty brocolli twenty five brussel sprouts twelve cabbage and three zucchini. Still have the melons to plant and all the seeds. I think the garden will be a full time job this summer....

Hi All!

Boy you people got allot done! My coop still needs cleaning and I got to do some thing for all these chicks and moms! Storky took he kids outside the last couple of days. Thinking about letting the other hens just range too when they get a little bigger. I worry about too many mamas and chicks running around though. Would they be aggressive toward each other or their chicks? The Cochin hatched her 4 today. The ones in the loft should be any time now.
Nothing on the 2 turkey eggs that are left.

The 3rd turkey hen spent yesterday and the night on the nest, but got up late morning. The 2nd broody turkey had a whole new pile of chicken eggs!

Welcome to the Cheeseheads Amyb - great peeps on this forum!

Gotta give a shout out to my DH, he is out in the garage right now making a nesting box for my budgies.....

Gave them a treat of oranges and some strawberries. I hope my mom can manage giving them the nutritional support they need right now. It will keep her busy at least! I just doused their wooden perch with Eucalyptus EO, so pretty soon they will all be on the perch rubbing their faces all over it. If I manage to get any babies out of this I'll post pics.

I cooked up some of the BF's salmon that he gave us for dinner tonight. It is pretty good! I make some asparagus and fried taters to go along with it.

CC, your bug repellent smells eerily like Ricola......

Babylady4 - I'm curious as to the use of the Eucalyptus EO on the wooden perch . . . I love my essential oils and Eucalyptus is on I always have on hand.

Morning all,
Sounds like we are all sore and tired from our "holiday". 90 percent of garden/coop work done. Only tomatoes and peppers left to plant or pot and new coop setup working out well for new chicks that are now 8 weeks old. No rain here. Supposed to come tomorrow pm. Hope so. Everything getting pretty dry up here.

Welcome to Amyb and others. Glad to see you back Colton! Congrats on all the hatches and condolences for all the losses. Hope everyone has fun at the bash. Supposed to be a bit "crispy" Saturday night so bring the long johns.

No one on here seemed to know if Alfalfa was really toxic to poultry or not so off to do some research. Will post ffindings if anyone is interested.

Have a good week

Ttfn
