Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh and one more thing.... LOL

My fermented feed pail has started bubbling... now what.... How long do I wait to feed it out (how long will it bubble?) Weird I started two at the same time. One is a 3 gallon pail (which is bubbling) and the other one is a chicken waterer (which is not bubbling) Do they need air or not?

Well, I'm not bragging, ok well I guess I am, I also lost about 15 lbs in a coupld of weeks after the bash....... I started taking a water pill....... you didn't say if you lost water or fat !!! I lost Water weight and maybe a few lbs of fat cause I was real good on the gluen free diet and no ice cream for one whole week.
Then I fell off the wagon, ate tons of ice cream and went off the one high blood pressure med cause my bp was 68/48, not good. Now on lasix, and feel bloated again but the congestion is cleard up in my chest....

So good for you. How did you do it? Stress or did you actually eat sensibly ??? Or quit drinking ??? LOL

Drugs. Plain and simple. Dr prescribed. Calm the crazy voice in my head. (Only the food related one). Help the metabolism (messed up by the anxiety med).

Drugs are not the answer kids. But for me it's a tool to get the ball rolling. Calm the crazy voice so I can and WILL eat healthy food and actually feel full. I can only use one drug short term, which is fine. It is meant to be a helper, not the solution.

Lucky for me I know all the stuff to do, but am hindered by genetics and anxiety med. Nothing worse than doing everything right and losing 1/4 of what the average person would. Hence the helper start. Is it cheating? Shoot, my big butt says he!!s no ;)

BTW Jim,

I do look and enjoy all of your pictures. I did however miss the pictures of your babies the other day. I somehow missed a page as well because I saw people commenting about things I didn't remember reading about..... and Yes everyone I do read all of your posts.

I forgot to say earlier, I bought a kong toy for Cali girl and two monster mouth rubber toys for Butts and Dolly. They aren' cheap. I hid some sausage type treat in each one that I got for $.32 each compared to $1.29 (love clearance) Cali took the one monster mouth toy and started chewing it right away and actually pulled pieces off of it. it is made out of the same rubber as the kong toy but where the mouth is for the opening to hold the treat it is thin rubber. Not please that it was so easy for her to pull tiny pieces off. Only a few minutes. Looks like it would be harder now to pull any off but am contemplating taking those to back and getting two more kongs..... geez... but bought them at Fleet Farm and they act like you are commiting a crime when you return things !!!

Gotta call Menards to see if they have their larger kiddy size pools in stock for $9.99 for the pigs... The three little piggies have gained so much weight being free ranged that we had to cut way way back on their feed. Porky hardly fits in his small kiddy pool !!! Such PIGS !!!
Every time ET goes to the garage for something they all (mostly Porky) follow him. (that is where we keep their food). And of course he starts squealing in protest because he didn't get fed... Poor boy,,,,, my poor poor fat boy !!! I know how he feels.
FT: We bought the 18 ft x 48 inch pool with the ultra frame online at walmart for 349. and also got the saltwater filter add on for 129. The saltwater filter has a timer so you can set and forget for the most part and also means you dont have to constantly test and add chemicals. Orignally we had to add 120 lbs of salt to the pool but that been about it. Biggest issue we had was trying to get the ground level....we thought it was perfectly level until we had it filler...ARGH! One side is a little lower and sure hope we have no problems with it. But I have to say we are loving it so far....a LOT better than the soft side pool we had last year.

You can PM me the name of it !! Wonder if it would clash with all of the other meds I'm on !!! LOL I know how and what to eat too. I acutally bought tons of fruit at Aldis the other day when I was in Wausau. Everyone had watermelons in their cart so I wanted one too.... then I bought strawberries and a melon... still haven't touched any of them..... I'm bad. I did eat a banana for breakfast today.

I told ET to save the little bananas for me.. I can't eat a big one.... he just laughed.... wonder why ????? All I said was I can't eat a big one !!!

Gonna have a yogurt for lunch... maybe make a fruit salad later????

Quote: Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about the salt water filters. I wouldn't even need the 18'. Had a hard time figuring out where to put my horse round pen. so I think the 15' would work fine. Was hoping they would go on sale but by the time they do our summer up here would be gone. What did you put one the ground under it, sand?

Unk... I couldn't agree more. But I wondered, if a dog learns it from someone else, don't they just come back home and say"HA! You again?" And revert back to their old ways? That's why I figured I had to be the one to do it to make it "stick"

Nope, a good trainer teaches the dog the basics (sit, stay, come, down, etc) then that same trainer will work with you and the dog together,,,it takes some time and a number of sessions (depending on the dog) Maybe this is what you have planned?,,,,,but the one on one with the dog and a trainer not in a "classroom or group setting" is what works best on a problem dog at that age.

this saves you all the time required to teach those basic commands and the dog learns what behavior is acceptable (gets rewarded) and what isn't,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,with the few basics down you will have to continue at home (regular sessions) but at this point that dog has no respect for you. Going to a stranger that knows what to do creates a clean slate for the dog,,,,,it also instills a vocabulary of commands (very important)

in the real world this will cost big $$$,,,,but try what I suggested earlier and work your wiles,,,maybe you can get off cheap, save yourself headaches, and turn that dog into what you were hoping it would be.

NOW,,,taking a page from Jim's book,,,,if you don't do something very soon that dog is of no use to you, and you will subject yourself and your family to an unwanted PIA for the rest of the dogs stay at your farm. Finding a home for an untrained, uncontrolled dog is not an easy chore.

good luck,,,if I was close I would offer to help ya out

You can feed right away, no need to wait anytime at all. Wet feed unfermented is better than dry this time of year anyway. You are good to go.
Quote: x2..I wish I was closer. I would stop daily and give him a good work out. He is so smart and knows so many basic commands already. I would also work with the kids and the dog together so they would all understand the *hows*. If you can't find anyone, I will take him for a month and do some work. I could as least start *leave it*, in that short of time, he would still not get it at you're place, but he will understand it is at least a discipline offense. He already knows, sit, stay, back, and wait. I have no idea if he knows down or not, never tried him with it.

Heather knows I am at work so I cannot respond right away. ;)

Nothing wrong with taking meds to help you get through rough patches..... or years.

Great advice all around on the dog. I was even thinking of driving down to help you out!

Back to work for me!

Well, I wrote this long post then BYC froze up on me.

So any way, hello all! I am swamped right now. BOTH my kids are getting married next week...one on Monday and one on Friday. Ridiculous that it worked out that way. Driving me nuts.

Last batch of chicks for the year hatching today.

Looks like you all will get that dog squared away. Amy-Praying for your friend...

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

Lisa
