BF4 - sounds like George has angel wing. Is just the edge kind of curled up? Its thought to be caused by too much protein in the diet. My mom has a goose with it too.

Ok, I just reread your post, sounds like it may be more serious than angel wing. Any pictures?

I would use that vetwrap stuff to anchor the wing to the body.

If you look at the picture, look at the biggest, thickest blood feathers in the middle of the wing. If I were holding George's wing like this, the middle third would be bent backwards at least at a 90 degree angle away from the body. Just the middle third. Do I still try to vet wrap it? It is NOT angel wing.

It is sort of confusing to figure out what part of the wing you are referring to. Any growing feather is a blood feather so this does not help. Pictures would though....

I'm wondering if he didn't break that part of his wing! I didn't think it was a break because the rest of the wing is in place and mobile. But this part is just so... Wrong now... I have to do something for it. Should be interesting, vet wrapping my gosling's wing. I'll see if I can get some George pictures tomorrow.

BabyL... Start counting at the left of blue feathers, count over 5 (approx) then imagine taking those 5, and the section directly above, and bending it backwards

I am still betting it is angel wing.. is it like 4 or 5 feathers ? I have one goose like that.. I am not so sure it is because of too much protein.. I think a lot of it is heredity..

If you feel you must do something,, tape just the one wing.. If you tape both wings, you might compromise his balance..

I have to make a correction to my last post..

the goose decided she wanted to go inside the coop with the other geese, and left the nest.. I just finished putting 10 goose eggs and 6 guinea eggs into bator #1...due the first week of August..

Evening everyone!

Spent most of the day puling out weeds and volunteer "Mexican Midget" tomatoes from the garden. I pulled 100s of them. Does anyone want some small cherry tomatoes?

I also thinned out the carrots and replanted the ones I pulled and also thinned the beets, but they went into our dinner salad. We had smoked chicken, salad, and for dessert chokecherry crisp. I picked 3 pts of chokecherries from the neighbors yard and made a delicious crisp from them. Only flaw...we had purple/blue teeth and lips for a bit! The jam that I made didn't turn purple, it was bright red. Curious?

DH is playing in his first soccer game tomorrow. Does anyone want to go laugh at him with me? He hasn't had any practices and the rest of the team speaks Spanish! We might just be the only Caucasians there!

Got car/van back today. Had the sway bar, alternator, belt all replaced and an oil change. I love our mechanic! Great prices and fast turn around! Plus always a year warranty on all work on top of any factory warranties.

My mom is still here with us. We visited Kenosha and looked at Senior housing options for when she decides to move up here. Don't know what we are doing tomorrow (besides DH soccer game).
