It may be that they are plucked, but the feathers are like wet or something.
what did I miss? When and what dog? Bbl we seriously need to get together and. catch up soon?CUTIES - X2!!!!!!
Oops, sorry I missed this.. you are absolutely right. "Doc Brown" isn't a vet, I misspoke. He's a semi-retired professor in veterinary sciences ( now fully retired due to a heart attack) that only does seminars, poultry shows etc, and has his First State Vet Supply that specializes in poultry. I love listening to his shows even if he does go over my head at times. If I hadn't had courses MedT (medical terminology) etc. at times I couldn't follow him at all but I still manage to learn a ton. Which reminds me. When I talked with him, his first recommendation was not duramycin, it was Tylan but I told him I wouldn't be able to get that locally. So did you get to FF ? I noticed there was an off brand for their powder Corrid I think was on sale the last time I was there. Cheaper then Corrid. Anyway, I don't know if you know this but Dr Brown is not a Vet or Doctor. Somehow he just acquired the Dr title because he helps chickens and sells meds. Just thought I would share that with anyone else too that might think he is a Veterinarian. Cocci sure is a weird illness. I've had chicks develop it that never hit real ground. So where did they get it ? Wonder if it can be carried in the feed ? It supposedely lives in the soil so ???? I think you are doing the right thing treating just the two newer birds. Hope it works out for you with the two new Amigos. Oh wait aren't Amigos boys? Sorry for all the chicken swearing !!! LOL Cindlady...... where was your husband yesterday.... driving around up nort ??? LOL Wow, that's pretty scary too. Does he ever fall asleep while he drives? I think this week has been so interesting in so many ways, Unk are you ready to recap the month of August for us ??? LOL Let's test your memory !! LOL Happy Labor Day Everybody !!!! Drive safe the FIBS are out !!! LOL jk.....don't know what to say other than after talking with Dr. Brown, poultry vet, aka The Chicken Doctor, I put my girls showing similar symptoms on Duramycin at his recommended rate of ! Tablespoon per gallon and I was seeing improvement the next day. BTW, Duramycin loses potency quickly once it's mixed so what I did was split the dose in half and mix it twice a day. (for me that worked out to 1/2 tbl. in 1/2 gal. water twice a day). Don't know if it helps but I just wanted to share what worked for me.Yesterday I noticed I now have sneezing/coughing in my coop and some diahria in my flock. I am sure they now have whatever Latte had at the end. Xanadu that was with her seems fine. I have been reading everything I can on what type of respitory infection this could be and more confused and scared than ever!! It sounds as though antibiotics will do nothing more than prevent secondary infections but will not cure any of these-more of a sit and wait. I put vitamins in their waterers. I have duramycin on hand and can possibly get tylan from BBP. Any suggestions on which of these to use? I stopped at Fleet Farm yesterday and they didnt have anything other than duramycin available to treat. My eggs have ropped from 12-15 a day down to 6-8 in the last 3 days also. Im scared.![]()
It is on like four. And I changed my mind, it is hard, like it got wet then never dried. They all look fine to me.

Morning all! Cind, I am so sorry about your luck lately :-( sending good vibes your way. And I have learned on the blrw, the only way to tell (for me) is looking at the saddle feathers.

Denim, those are cute birds!! Good luck with all that school work!
Clark, I really hope you take it easy for a few days. Give your body some time to catch up. Otherwise you will end up down and out for longer. You need to take care of yourself.
Looking forward to the eggs hatching!!!!
Judge, I dont think you are too far from me. You should send that hen my way. Rae is an amazing gentle rooster. He would take good care of her.
Habe a nice weekend!!!!

Hi All!
Didn't pay the internet bill soon enough (was waiting for when I went to town Fri) and they cut me off..... AFTER I wrote yesterday's reply, but before I could post!![]()
Vicki... nice dust bath area!
I don't remember what else I was going to respond too. Been busy!
Yesterday while I was closing up one of the BLRW I got from Delish got trapped under a cage and panicked. She was dead by the time I could get to her. So Sat. we are having very young BLRW for supper.Figured no sense in wasting her. I was surprised, she dressed dressed out at 3 1/2 lbs. She was still getting allot of "big chicken" feathers, what a pain to pluck. Of course it was the one of the 3 with no comb or waddles to speak of. I suspect the other 2 may be roos![]()

My special lady, my 15yr old cat that takes care of me when I sleep, has been missing for 6 days. She was a outside cat when we found her and was content inside most of the time, but she would get restless and go out for 2 or 3 days at a time. I think something happen to her.Really hasn't been a good week.![]()
