VickyW..... That's funny. I will be going to get feed tomorrow, would have been funny to run into you and not knowing who you were. I talk to everyone so I'm sure I would have asked what kind of chickens you have and would have figured it out. So how did you like the place?
Nice people hey ! Sorry you are having problems lately. Hopefully your hen improves. Why not keep the roo if it turns out to be one. Then you can make your own aussies in the spring. One rooster isn't going to hurt anything and may actually be good for your hens (they like to protect their women) It is so cute to watch the hens and roo's interact. If I didn't have so many roosters already.. Plus another 6 or so Ameruacana chicks hatched last week. Cute little buggers.
Bad news... the guinea that Cali (my new toy poodle mix) attacked yesterday died today in my arms. I was trying to feed it and give it water and it had gotten wet so I was blow drying it. Poor thing. GD dog !!
Searched all over today and the baby keets that were running around for the past two days were no place to be seen. I couldn't catch them yesterday and ET didn't get home until after dark. So keeping fingers crossed that they make it until tomorrow. But it rained really hard yesterday while we were in town dropping off the truck so .......??
Picked up the truck today.... $250 for a new idler arm and front end alignment. $50 for 4 used tires and $60 to have them taken off of the old rims they came on and put them on the truck.
So get in the truck yesterday and noticed that the tiny chip in the windshield in now a fullblown crack !!!! GEEEZ does this ever end ?????
Have to rob a bank to get the wheel bearing down on the van next week. That will be another $250. Then I can start on the car !!!
Time for new vehicles...... guess I better start investing in lotto tickets !!!
Went swimming for the third time in the pool today. I swam naked with a feather in my hair !!!!
Ah ha, just kidding.... I didn't wear a feather !!! LOL

I'm going to have to put down my chocolate orpington hen. She hasn't been able to walk for a while and she's not getting any better. She keeps the one foot curled and stumbles around. I've had her separated for a couple of weeks and have seen no improvement.
Hi all- hope all is going well you.
I have 5 hens sitting on eggs. Ugh- hopefully they don't all hatch. I even have one sitting on the duck nest. I checked on her and there is 3 duck eggs, and 2 chicken eggs under her. One of the duck eggs has a peck mark on it, so I guess technically there is two. I have no idea whose eggs they are. We lost our two Rouen ducks on Saturday. They got hit by a car. I was so upset, but I knew the risk of letting them free range.
Been busy canning. Made salsa and sweet sour cabbage, and froze 20doz corn with my parents and sister. 30doz more today and i am done with that. I still will make corn relish, but no more freezing for the year. Still have lots to do it the garden, especially now that the tomatoes are taking off. And I have to take care of the potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts and cabbage. It's like a full time job! Thankfully I have morning free until my little DS4 gets off the bus at 11:30.
The contractor and architect were here yesterday finalizing the kitchen and garage plans. Too bad it took DH so long to make up his mind. It won't be done for Christmas now, so we won't start until after. Hopefully it will be \done for Easter.

Do you know what happened to your hen BBP? Too bad she isnt recovering...I hate that.
Judge are you canning/freezing for the whole county? That is a lot of putting up you are doing...I bet you dont have to shop all winter! Lucky you!
Anyone have any ideas for pears? I dont really like them any way but just off the tree...I have a ton of them though and hate to see them go to waste! Wish I had a dehydrator that worked well!
