Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

It is hawk crazy this year. I have fed them darn things enough this year. 6 birds now..that is the most I have lost in one single season. Time for flapping flags and trailor trash decorations.

really suprised I have not had a problem yet, or at least my neighbor because she free ranges, sort of. Hers are loose but the roos never take them more than a 100 ft from the buildings and there are big pines and lots of cover, walk thru pole building, and I am jealous!!! Anyway, the raptor migration is in full swing, being pushed by this cold front but no problems

. I plan to put net and greenhouse panels over the main run this week anyway.
Hope you don't loose any more

Oh no Vicki! That's awful!! When I come for a visit I have some big colorful flags I will make sure to bring some with me!! They seem to help here.... At least so far so good we are surrounded by woods and near water so lots of birds!!
All of my birds finally seem to be healthy hopefully I won't lose any more and the one on its way to the state lab will provide some answers. Enjoy the sunshine!

I have a family of goshawks. She is teaching to hunt. I put the trap up and caught one of the young ones and let it go hoping they would go away, but in an hour it went back into the trap. It took three times in the trap today before it would leave and not come back. The last time I left it in the trap for an hour before release. Very persistent family. They came back with moved furniture in the yard, streamers in the trees and a disco ball swinging..Joe wants to put a mirrors up on the coop roofs. My yard is officially trailor trash alley. All I need is to turn on my X Mass lights

Quote: I have woods..and my birds are pretty good about hiding..hawks are great hunters. I was in the yard and never seen them even when the birds were warn calling. I was in the yard with two of the swoop and steals...never seen the entrance, I only seen the exits. The baby's are easy for them to take since they are fenced in. The adults have the woods.

Do you have garden gnomes and pink flamingos? Oh, oh..how about concrete statues, reflective orb on a stand, aluminum pie plate, scarecrow, etc? Clear fishing line should keep them out.

I think she meant that the 2 of your chickens wandered off, not 30 of them. They would be easy to spot if that was the case. Hope you can track them down. With caller Id and cell phones you should be able to find the number to who bought them unless of course your friend only used a land line.
Good Luck. I gave some bird to a friend once with the understanding that if she didn't want them I would get them back. She gave them to someone else.... said it was by accident... She said she got them back and they later died..... Hmmmm Makes you wonder who your friends really are sometimes. Lesson learned here.

I know its just why would they say they gave them away give almost all of there chickens away and not include mine sady along with that , that was the ladies home for 1-1.5 years they never wanderd off (ok one did but she was diffrent) and I think they just dont want me to know for some reason like as spite or somthing very imiture for adults if you ask me...and sorry about your chickens and yeah it really dose make you wonder..
