Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I like a buckskin colored horse. Don't know why. Come to think of it I like buff Orpingtons and my yellow Lab and my Morris looking Tabby cat. Hmmmmmm? Coincidence? I think not.

Deli - You need some old furniture in the yard for the trailer look to be complete. Like an old couch in the yard and a recliner on the front porch.

Can anyone help Viki out with these items?

Between my yearling and two mini donkeys, which probably equal to a full size horse, we give them 1-1.5 bales of hay a day in the winter, which we pay $3 a bale, and we go through a bag of grain in around 2 weeks. Last winter we went through 117 bales of hay, so we ended up spending around $350 for the whole winter.

$350 for the winter is a lot less then I thought it would be! How much does the grain cost per bag? And what does it cost for shots/coggins/and hoof trim? Oh, and shoes just incase. What is a good guestimate on how often to trim?

Clark, sounds like you have a huge heart. My daughter wants a black horse in the worst way ;-) I hope those eggs hatch for you. I see lots of ads on cl for hay. Might be a good place for you to find some... I do not understand why peoe need to get so greedy. I can see raising your prices to match the market. But that is ridiculous.

Thanks for giving me some straight answers!! Ive been researching for about 6 months, and feel as tho ive gotten nowhere!

Also clark, you have beautiful horses!! There is one that has been on cl for awhile. I love her. Blue roan. Aand is rode by a 16 year old. I wish I could afford her.

I believe grain is about $12 per 50lb at Farm & Fleet but if you have a local feed store you may be able to get it cheaper by the 100lb for their own mix which should cost around $19 as that is what it is here. Coggins was $25 per year but I haul the horses to the vet and he does the test right thru the trailer besides it gives them trailer experience. Shots are around $10 from Farm & Fleet also but you can have them done by the vet when you would get the coggins done, but I think West Niles is around $40, I never do those shots as have had friends who had problems. I think hoof trim is around $35 and shoeing was $30 for the front only. You usually trim every 3 months depending on the ground the horse is ridden on. When we were riding daily I only had to trim every 5 months. Some of these prices may be different per area so check around. I used to be a barrel racer so was really up on everything but over the last 2 years have fell out of the horsey loop of things.

Kids just come in and Ruthy my Black Laced Red Wyondotte died, she was nearly 6 so I assume it was age as she had no signs of illness.

Another Blue Wheaton x BLRW just hatched. Bring on the chickies!

I resemble these comments as I live in a trailer. Although I don't allow junk to sit around my yard and look trashy. I definitely have seen enough of it in this area though. Husband use to have a very vulgar hat with a trailer on it that said "F*&% Me I'm Trailer Trash!" used to get so mad when he'd where it when we'd go to town.
