Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

A search of the Kohler Method of dog training took me to an hour long session of reading about dog training! LOL--it was enjoyable anyhow. Mel I too wish you luck with the dog--DONT GET BITTEN! I have worked with lots of dogs that need rehab...working on this terrier now. She is coming along! Where did you hear of this dog and how did you get involved? (If I may ask)

Thawing one of my biggest chickens to make for dinner tomorrow. I am thinking about just roasted with veggies. I had to edit my recipe at JAP and it looked so good I decided it must be made this week! Last night's pork roast was fantastic! (albeit a bit dry) Definitely need to get some feeder pigs in spring...I hope the price of corn continues to drop! Tonight I am making beef stroganoff. OK--how is that spelled? My corrections give me "estrogen" or "strongman!" ***???

I guess my break is well over...I wonder if I should make my own noodles?

Looking forward to Saturday! TerriO

Chilly Evening To Everyone...thanks for all the congrats and good wishes on the wedded bliss!

It's always good to hear from the missing folks....I raised springers for prolly 20 years. They are easy to work with, and can be trained with a lot of good progress. I acquired a gun shy beauty from folks that gave up on him......he loved the water....through that training I was able to turn him into a wonderful bird dog. I would get him retrieving a dummy with shots a distance away taken with first a 22....then little by little, I graduated him to shots closer by....turned out to be a great grouse and woodcock dog.I worked with him daily.

Glad you stopped by huntress. I'll have to share my bear stories with you sometime.

The bowhunting continues...I'm hoping to pull this off pretty quick now...the early season is getting short now, and the stand is commonplace for sure.

I made a batch of spicy vezun jerky that would please everyone. I was shy on the amount of spices I added to the bash batch last year...It won't happen again, I promise. I measured some stuff this time, and created perfection...LOL!

Keep the fire going...bigz

I had to change the timer tonight. I forgot to change the settings Sunday when I changed the clocks. With it getting dark so early and not ever getting sunny, I just adjusted the lights to stay on for 12 straight hours. I normally set it for a few hours in the morning and a few at night, but in the past the sun actually comes out!

The rabbits are still digging for gold! Apparently Mr. Gibs spot wasn't good enough and Lily has covered it up and is building 2 new ones.

The kids are all leaving tomorrow for a long weekend. DD12 is flying out to Maryland until late Monday and DD11 & DS9 are headed to their moms. DH, myself, and my dad have the house to ourselves. Good thing I'm leaving on Saturday!

Actually we are going to find a nice places to go for dinner. I suggested Chinatown.

Hello everybody, We are in Northeast Wisconsin. Our new chicks should arrive tomorrow morning. I am so excited. We also picked up our three ducks today. McGee, Ziva and Kate. We also have 20 rabbits.

Thanks everyone!

So the Springer has arrived...... so far I have determined a lot of his growling is just him vocalizing and it is all in play. I found out he was locked in his kennel in a closet; so he has separation anxiety. He has been tagged twice by the Rat, but I expected that.

Thank you Huntress, TO, Cuties, and BigZ! The owners had contacted every Springer rescue in the area, plus Humane societies and they all told them to put him down. I have seen some aggression with food and toys, but honestly he behaves like an overgrown puppy. We re-direct him and he moves on. He thinks our cats would be fun to play with, and has tried to play with our two gods, but nobody has been interested....... The kids are also doing well with him, disciplining and re-directing when needed. My DH likes him a lot.....

The owners have said that after two weeks, we can make our decision to either keep him or give him back so they can have him put down. Honestly, right now I cannot see that as a possibility.

So,

Our dog growls in communication also...will be curious what steps you take!

Ok...can someone tell me what wry neck is and how it happens? Tonight I noticed that one of our favorite bantams was fluffed up like cold and tilting his neck now and again funny. Is this wry neck? What can I do?my daughter will be so upset if something happens to this little one..sigh.
This is a two year old little I bantam brown leghorn...

Hubby leaves this weekend for a week long work trip to Vegas. Should be an adventure.

Mel, great job so far with the dog. Good luck. I am glad he found a patient, knowledgable family that can give him the training and attention he needs. I really hope it all works out well.

Kristi, I am sorry, but I know little about wry neck. I thought it was suspected to be a nutritional deficiency, but I could have it mixed up with something else. There was something I read about "stargazing" a while back. Someone on here had a bird with wry neck. Was it Cind? Where has she been lately, anyway? I hope Neil is doing ok.

We had another bummer today. One of the cats was trying repeatedly to urinate in the box with only tiny amounts coming out. After a few calls, we finally got him into the vet. Thankfully it looks to be a UTI. I was really hoping it wasn't crystals. I had enough of that with Finster for 20 years.
