Chickens bounce back from hypothermia quite well.. I once found one frozen inside a cement block.. IDK how long she was in there, but I had to pour warm water on her to melt the ice so I could remove her.. other than a few lost feathers she was fine... she lived.. and then three days later, I made soup out of her.. Not really ..
Yes Terri, I keep the light on 24/7/365 unless it burns out.. I turn it off on leap year.. I don't want to over do it..
water is very important if you want eggs.. winter air is low in humidity, so they need more water than they do in the summer.. I have about 40 to 50 chickens in that one coop.. they go through about 2 of the waterers per day.. 5 gallons ? IDk how much that waterer holds..
I am going to mark this day on the calender 3 people agreed with me .. some sort of record for sure..
