Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What a beautiful day!!!!

Taking the kids sledding today at the in-laws. Since they have SO much snow, I am going to stop at the rental place in Waupaca and rent a pair of snowshoes and try them out. If I like it I think I will pick some up for myself.

Irish, I have something for you.

I have been spoiling the geriatric felines of the house. Grover has not been acting right for about a week, and he has lost a lot of weight. On top of that, he was going through an up-chuck spree just about every night and he has become very clingy...... so the heating pad has been pulled out and is on the end of my bed set on low so the old man can warm his bones as needed. I have also started to feed him raw chicken hearts. For cats that have never eaten raw meats ever, these two really enjoy the raw hearts! I did try to give some to the kittens as well. Princess powder puff Annabelle was not impressed, Jinx would eat an entire bowl if I let her. Anyway, everyone except the kittens have a vet appt the first week of March. That will be fun, bloodwork on everyone.

I will be interested to see how much weight Trixie has lost in the past year and how abnormal her bloodwork results will be.

Kids are watching Chitty-chitty Bang Bang........

I suppose I should motivate here......

Forgot to ask ... Jim, how the puppy sales going?
we just started a little advertising ,, on craigs list first.. next week the weekly shopper paper.. going to list all the cities it is distributed to.. that was our best bet with the last batch 2 years ago..

the puppies will 5 weeks old on Monday..

we have had a few people come to look at them already,

One lady is a vet.. she quit her practice because she can't stand people.. she can do her own snipping,, she has access to a vets office where she can borrow the facilities ..
she is waiting for the money from selling her two horses..

the other is the mortician who handled my mother's funeral.. He just bought a home, so now he is free to have pets ..

some people will not sell their puppies as pets.. I figure that with the bonding instinct these dogs have, they would bond to a family like sh!t on a stick ..

we still have them in the middle of our dining room.. as soon as the temps go above freezing they will be moved into the lean to..

they are at the age now, where they wrestle and tease .. It is like live TV ..

they are 8 pounds. it is funny to watch Ann (she really does exist) weigh them on the kitchen scale.. she just drapes them over the scale and they hang there , just as calm as can be ..

this is how to weigh a puppy..
he will be 5 weeks old on Monday, Feb 24,,
this is my favorite boy.. 8 1/2 pounds
I like his woolly head ..

as always, click on the picture to enlarge it ..

Oh Jim...what a cutie he is. Love those little fur balls. Maybe after our vacation in summer, I can talk hubby into a puppy to keep packer busy!
Few more days and we will have chicks hopefully. Monday is lockdown. We spent the morning working on her project...I shudder at the handwriting on everything and then remind myself she is a first grader. Hoping those gorgeous chanteclers, andalusians snd marans make it. Not sure if they're re are any viable marans....eggs are dark enough it is hard to tell.

Rberry and Terri...would love to see you guys but I work Tuesday through Thursdays.
First big training at work...I rolled out a new handbook we walked thought and the ever fun, sexual harassment training... Love it. Glad to be back in the swing of things with work.

Wrestling is done, swimming has not started yet so yeah for not rushing everywhere during the week. I think you moms with three or four or more kids are amazing to get it all done. I have a. Hard time with working part time and running two kids around.

Need to start ordering and setting all my seeds soon and get my bee stuff in order. Alright inlaws should be here soon for dinner...later

Afternoon All...Nice chick and puppy pics, looks like everyone has plenty going on, despite the longevity of our Winter here.

Thanks for posting the link again angiebubs. Did you get dumped on again, or did you luck out with a near miss this time?

Thanks for sharing the karma bl4. I have and use my military snowshoes. I know they just had or gonna have a snowshoe seminar at the Navarino wildlife area....you can rent snowshoes there..I think they sometimes do a night time shoe too!

The last of the apples were fed to the flock today. They really enjoy them during the Winter. I still have a lot of carrots left. Prolly ten lbs in the fridge and haven't even looked at the ones buried in the sand...25lbs for sure there yet. Never did them that way....hope they aren't soft etc...

Split pea and ham with home grown carrots and red potatoes tonight.

Have fun in the cold if you can. They had the annual fish derby today in town. I stayed home where it's warm. Had to be nasty on the pond with this wind we are having.

We went snowshoeing with the kids for the first time this winter, and they had a blast! I think we'll try it again next year when the youngest is a bit older and can hopefully keep up better. I enjoyed it and really felt the burn in my thighs. Hope you had fun trying it, if you did!

I hope all of you telling me how great snowshoeing is have been out on trails and that is why you enjoy it so much. I was out busting my own path in 2-2 1/2 ft deep snow..... I managed to do a little less than half a mile and I was exhausted! I had my coat off, my hat off, I was soaking wet from sweating.... how is this 'fun'?????? I am going to give it another try tomorrow behind the school since I have the snowshoes all weekend long..... right now I am happy I did not spend the money on some.......

Jim, I showed my in-laws your puppy weighing methods since my MIL has that same scale. They thought your puppy was pretty cute.

Terri, you called me on my trek in the snow and since reception is so cruddy out at my in-laws I just got your message......

The chicken hearts are doing wonders; Grover was begging me for bits of pizza tonight.
