Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

It has been a long time since I raised and milked goats..I remember them being pretty hardy for the most part..
I mostly remember the stink of the males during breeding season and milking in the winter..I did not like parts of having goats..but I loved kidding season...I do remember having a set of twins in my bathroom..when the weather was nasty till they dried.

Race Day To Everyone.... Hope junior can keep the pack behind him again today. Another good run would be sweet for sure!

Nice to hear everyone had a good time at TO's....I woulda snuck off with Derek for a couple snobby beers somewhere...must be a micro somewhere close by?

Cuties are your brahma roo's crowing at all? My Bucks and blue ameraucana roo's never shut up...my brahma roo hasn't crowed since last fall...weird. Talks all the time though.

Gonna fire up the grill later for some venzun on the grill...it's the best red meat one can eat.

I am sorry I missed out at TO's yesterday, I did have a great time with my cousin (who keeps trying to get me to move closer to her!). I have put in for a few jobs 'down south' just to see what happens... it would be so nice to live further south in a different growing zone...... I noticed the snow is completely gone in a lot of the southern exposure hillsides. Must be nice!

CS, glad you enjoyed the brownies. I love them cooked that way! I have been trying REALLY hard not to bake so much since I have lbs to lose and swimsuit season is coming up.......

The pup was a little shocky last night. Old Fonz ripped into her when I was outside so she was a little skittish after that. She has not eaten much since she has gotten here (but she can stand to lose some flab) I am certain once she relaxes she will eat just fine. The cats are curious but not terrified of her (a good thing). This morning she ate a few nibbles of food and was running around with one of her toys so I think it will not be too long before she settles in. Today the oldest DD took the pooch and Fonz out for some bonding time out in the woods at the in-laws place and the BF place, they are looking for sheds. I suppose you all would like to know her name too! Officially she is Ginger Snap, but she is going to be called Ginger at this house.

Looking forward to warmer weather; some of you better get your tree tapping supplies ready.

BigZ, DD says if you want tickets to go to next years Wild Game banquet, she can hook you up. She had a good time, they served Elk, Quail, Venison, and other variety meats (if she was home I would ask and get a complete list). They are going to try and have squirrel on the menu next year.

Hello all, just checking in.

Hope all is going well for everyone!

Just got done tagging chicks, putting the new ones in the small brooder and moved last week's chicks up to the larger brooder. Seriously can't wait til the glacier moves out so I can move older chicks outside!

The incubator appears to be tweaked, everything is hatching out well in spite of the freezing temps freezing some of my eggs. Cute Iowa Blues, puffy cheeked "Iowacanas" (IB x Ameraucana mixes), and a few other EE types.

The flock made it through this winter OK, though they are looking a little haggard. Has been a rough one.

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hey, everyone!" :)

It might serve you well next time you get in trouble with Anne.... you know... move over little rover cause the old dogs movin in!!!! nice to have some good temps on the way.. you can see the change in attitude in people and a welcome change it is,,,,,, good to see the new chick activity taking of....LET SPRING BEGIN<<<<< bring on the syrup Any one going to the beaver dam swap?? would you like to meet for coffee and r you selling anything? let me know,,, I am planning on going..nothing to sell.. C C I just cant come up with anything witty on the big trunk thing.. must be a little rusty... I m off to catch the race and then get a wood duck house or 2 built,,,,,time to get them out or up real sooooon have a great day one n all ,,,I enjoy youall as you share Ideas and humor!!! ZEKE

So glad you took that baby goat Cuties! I know it is in good hands! I like the pic...the cat looks freaked! The raspy breathing might just be from inhaling a little Karo syrup water or milk. If you are really concerned inject a cc of PennG in the back leg muscle. That will take care of it. Wait until it starts bounding around the floor in you rkitchen--it is hysterical and the kidoes will love it! (I think you should name him) Never thought of it but I should have given him a shot of selenium before you left...oh well. There is probably enough in the replacer. THe females were out wrecking the barn last night...I got them back into the pen without incident though. Thanks for all of your help yesterday BTW! Now I can milk the calm one and save it for BL4's soap!

So BL4--why do you have your cousin's dog? I must have missed something again!
GLad everyone's eggs are starting to come! My counter is FULL of them! I need to pick up some cartons again....and maybe pick up some customers too! I am going to put another add or 5 on CL and see if I can sell some.

Weird about all the people looking at puuppy adds and not buying Jim, I wonder what's up with that? Maybe they didnt pay their 20 bucks? Give me the word and I will tell my groups about your pups...

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and broccoli for dinner tonight...starting to smell pretty good. I am nearly down to the bottom of my garden potatoes...one thing about this winter, it turned the basement into perfect storage for them! Oh yeah, before I forget---I have saved many seeds from the heirloom hubbards I grew this year (thanks Brent) and I would like to share. If you want some send me a PM with your address. I planted about 10 seeds last year and they took over the East side of my garden but I grew all those monsters that I pictured. You dont need many!

Have a great night! TerriO

good afternoon,, so confusing around here,, some of the clocks got set ahead and some are not..

I did a little plowing, just because it was so nice out..

I filled the gooses' bath tub.. they enjoyed that.. nice to have thawed out hose ..

there was one Seb missing.. it was here yesterday.. I am thinking (hoping) it is hiding on a nest somewhere .. I will check for it when I go out to feed the puppies their supper..

Today, the puppies did not need any coaxing to come out of their pen when I opened the gate.. they all had a good romp with daddy dog.. I think he liked it more than they did ..

I wouldn't worry too much about gurgling noises when the goat is sucking on a bottle.. the milk is probably coming faster than when they suck on mom.. and don't be surprised if he blows a milk bubble out of his nose ..

Hello Connie!!

Sure is nice to see you..
are you hitting the shows hard this year?

I don't know about hard, but yes I'd like to get to some local shows this year. More exhibition than anything else as I don't have any SOP breeds, but hope to get the IBs out to some shows and get judges used to seeing them. :)

I am sure I will see you at Internationals..I am going to Illi and hopefully a few more..I think there is one a little farther north I might try..zi think it is at the Stag Farm..I will have to go look it up..soon and start to make some plans.
