Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What are the state regs for trapping/shooting fox? We've seen a big one run through here near the chickaroos and our renter has seen it 3 other times during the day. No problems yet but it makes me a bit nervous. (I think the hubs would enjoy sitting up one night with the shotgun on his lap!)
A landowner is required to have a license to hunt deer, bear, turkey, game birds, migratory
game birds, and bobcat, or to trap otter, muskrat, mink, bobcat, or fishers. The owner or
occupant of any land and members of their family* may, without a license and subject to all
other restrictions except seasons, hunt or trap on their own property for beaver, fox, coyote,
raccoon, woodchuck, rabbit, and squirrel year-round, and unprotected species causing damage
or a nuisance, and may sell the skins of these species (except for woodchucks) .......

Landowner Provisions: The owner or occupant of any land and any family
members* who live with them do not need a license to:
• trap coyote, beaver, fox, raccoon, woodchuck, rabbit, and squirrel on
the land year-round (see ‘Beaver Damage Control’ on page 18 for more
information).
• live trap with cage or box traps for beaver, coyote, fox, woodchuck, rabbit,
raccoon, and squirrel on their land at any time in cities, villages, or other
areas where the discharge of firearms is unlawful. Live-trapped animals
must be either humanely killed or released on unenclosed private land with
the landowner’s permission within 24 hours. Note: Live trapped animals
cannot be released on DNR owned and managed lands......

THANKS!!

good early afternoon,
we have 32 turkeys now and quite a few more pips..
keeping the hum% above 60% .. really helps, no sticky poults , yet.. I watched a few of them hatch.. once the head is out, it doesn't take them long to kick the shell free ..

once they are in the brooder, they are nothing like chicks or guineas.. they just lay down and sleep..

I called the guy to come and pick up what is hatched.. he is selling at the farmers market today and will be here right after he is finished there..

I found out that he paid $3.oo/each for the eggs.. He got them from Heritage Turkey Farm in Waupaca .. look it up.. they sell butchered frozen turkeys from $65.oo and up.. weights starting at 10 pounds..

If the rain holds off, I want to mow the front yard again.. the grass is really growing fast out there.

Thanks for the update on the legalities of predators etc. Still don't know if I could do it. Would have to have neighbors or ET do it without me seeing it.

Clark, sorry to hear that your dog is having issues. It doesn't sound good. What did the Vet say ? May need another visit.

Sure wish the sun would shine. My sister is out in Hudson with her new 4 day old Grandson. She was walking the dog when she called. Said it was in the 80's and SUNNY !!!

Oh well, better get moving. Go to town, do laundry and spend some money... that always brightens my day !!! LOL

Discovered that with half my coop flooding, that one of the 4 nestboxes in brooder must have had pine shavings too high below it and it made the shavings in nestbox damp. Somehow when I felt under the broody hen, she was all damp! Needless to say I have her moved and settled in to a dry clean setup. But I was sure the eggs would be dead. Candled and there is still movement in all 5 of hers! Poor momma!

Working to once again clean out the entire coops bedding, dry out the coop, sprinkle Dry Stall, put down fresh shavings and hope for no more rain!! Keeping in mind the coop is probably 12 ft by 20 ft with a ton of stuff in there to work around :p Im out of shape. There has never been water in there like this! They say this is the wettest spring since late 1800's.

It's cloudy here but hot and damp - Riley and I just sat out on the front porch for a little while - he's panting and I'm sweating. We're back inside with the A/C on. I think a little rain would clear the air but we've had enough rain to last a couple of weeks.

We moved the broody hen into the chicken tractor to keep her from hoarding all the eggs and she fought hard to stay on the nest. Now she's on and off all the time. I don't think she knows what she's doing and I doubt we'll have any hatching going on. MY MIL used to cull any hen that got broody - I can see why - it can be a big waste of eggs.

good afternoon, sunny here,, I mowed the front lawn and all the lawn coming up the drive way and then the lawn around the big fly pens and then half the lawn right in front of the house.. I even trimmed around the trees and cut the black berry patches back to expose more grass and make the contour nicer for the next time I mow..
I picked up a ton of fallen branches so I won't have to do that next time..
amazing how far you can go on less than 2 gallons of gas..

waiting for the guy to come for his turkeys.

up to 41 turkeys .. pushing the 50% mark ..

Hope to get at the lawn and the gardens...if it quits raining, and the sun shows it's face.
I think the stock market is a better bet....at least it's up...

so they are done. DH and DD and DS(14) were able to make the 2nd game, I didn't see either game... I was at the hospital with my parents......and they released my Dad today

he improved so much over the last week that he didn't need to go to another rehab facility but the doctor's recommended that he and my mom have extra help for awhile yet so that she can get some rest/down time. So they are now staying with us until they are ready to go home...one day at a time is what we tell my dad. His strength and memory are getting better each day. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

Other than that the grass needs to be mowed so maybe tomorrow.

Have a good one!
